.
Would've given it five stars, of Sylvia Plath wasn't racist. But then again, I guess I was just never her target audience.

A deeply moving classic about loneliness, alienation and expectations
The book bears many similarities to Plathโs own life and one cannot help but feel that the novel comes directly from her own experiences. However the book isnโt just a cry for help, it also stands as an intelligent commentary on the expectations placed on women, the silence around mental illness, and the human need for meaning and identity. Sylvia Plath forces the reader to slow down and feel all that Esther feels while in the throes of her melancholy.Despite its darkness, The Bell Jar ends on a note of ambiguous possibility. Esther enters a psychiatric institution and begins a slow recovery. The bell jar hasnโt lifted entirely โ but it has cracked. And from that crack,a ray of light makes its way in.This matters. That sliver of hope is necessary.Because while Sylvia Plath herself may not have survived her illness, her voice โ and Estherโs voice โ continue to speak to millions, especially those who have ever felt alone inside their own minds.

Hard cover but quality of paper is very poor
The book was sent in appropriate package, and the delivery was fast, however the delivery (via speed post) was done to the apartment guard n not directly to under signed. Book could have got misplaced. The book is hardcover n price was less but the quality of the pages is very poor with few pages all yellowed. However the font size is good n makes for comfortable reading

Great storyline
The book arrived in good condition.I liked the writing style of the book, there were few chapters in the middle and the start where I felt a little bored n felt the plot being disjointed here and there, and struggled to find cohesion between plots and characters. But... oh god oh... later things started falling into places with explainations that hit me hard. Overall it's a great book, with great plot and I think it's worth reading ๐
