Maskal Teff Organic Ivory Teff Grain, 14 Ounce

After buying multiple brands, I'm convinced that Maskal has the highest quality organic teff at the best price point. I go through "phases" with my grains -- I'll eat something like teff daily for weeks, then not again for many months. Because of this, it's important to me that there is a long expiration date so it's still fresh when I'm ready to go on a teff-binge in another 6 or 9 months. This bag came with an expiration date almost 2 years out. Perfect!

This flour is an ingredient in my favorite bread recipe (Aran Goyoaga's Whole-Grain Seeded Sourdough). It works perfectly and imparts a touch of sweetness. I recently discovered that this flour can be purchased in 25# bags directly from Maskal for a substantial savings. I haven't pulled the trigger on buying that, but I surely will in the future. What a great product!

They really should highlight that this is grown in the USA. I kept skipping the listing due to the brand name because I thought it was just an import from a reseller, so who knows if it's really organic, etc. But when I finally looked up their website it seems like it's high quality/legit. I was looking for a vegan calcium source and teff has the most calcium of any grain, plus it's tasty and has a nice chewy texture. Would recommend.

Honestly, I didn’t like this teff. The texture was much finer than I expected, and it’s not what I intended to use it for. It might work for certain recipes, but it just didn’t meet my needs.
