Buy Remember When: A Nostalgic Trip Through The Consumer Era by Opie, Robert (ISBN: 9780753711415) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Totally engaging nostalgic trip! - What a beautifully illustrated book full of memories. A great conversation starter for both young and old. My husband and i enjoy looking through things we may have forgotten throughout our lives and reminiscing. Especially engaging read for elderly relatives or working with dementia patients. Excellent book 👍 Review: Another great resource - I have this book in my classroom, as the period that we are covering in History is the period from 1948 to the present day. (I know; how can that be History when it includes our life time!) The pictures and sections are beautifully grouped to the decades, and have resulted in many pleasant reminiscence sessions with colleagues. They have also intrigued the children and have sparked their interests. A lovely book for all those of us who have lived through any of the eras included in the book - and it takes us from the Victorians right up to the 1990s, so that must be all of us (although I doubt if any of us have lived through all of them!) You'll find yourself going through it and saying "Do you remember...?" or "Good grief! I had one of those!" You will also find yourself engrossed by all the wonderful illustrations, newspaper clippings and photos. A priceless and timeless book! (I'm buying one to give one of my class at prize giving!)

Nice easy book to dip into
I got this for my father who has difficulty concentrating on books now but still enjoys them. I hoped he wouldn’t find it insulting to his intelligence but he didn’t, he likes it, he said it was perfect to dip in and out of. There is some text but it’s not particularly weighty and you can just enjoy the photographs if you wish, it’s very well compiled and lots to trigger memories and thoughts.

Lovely
Bought for Mum after a visit to Abbeycwmhir Hall for their Christmas display, and saw this in the café. Very interesting for the young, memory reminder for the not so young. Could see it would be good for a dementia sufferer.

All the old names come back to you!
As I say when you read/look at this book all the old names come back to you, of course in keeping with how old you are?! But for me from the 50's onward are of the most interest, but it must be said that very little would be here now if it wasn't for previous times, in most or all things I would say. It is a well made & presented book, with plenty of nice colour photos, also with captions & more detailed information, I would throughly recommend this book for light research, enjoyment, or just general interest, many thanks!!

Happy memories of the sweet shop and toy shop
I bought this book for Christmas for my 86-year-old father-in-law who has mild Alzheimer's but is already extremely forgetful. He likes reading and on Christmas Day spent ages looking through this, although I didn't have chance to look at it with him. I think he will enjoy going back to it again and again, and as he will forget that he's read it before he will continue to get pleasure from it. I looked through it before wrapping it up for him, and was impressed by the amount and variety of information the book contains, but even for someone who just likes the pictures there is plenty to enjoy here - memories of products old and new, how they have developed and changed over time and a great opportunity for happy reminiscences.

You can't but memories
This large book is great to look through it takes you way back in time As well as being a fantastic present for the people who have everything Because memories are priceless and that is what this book contains With regard to age, anyone who is old enough to remember the contents Would love a trip down memory lane, alone or together.

The potential buyer should know that this books focuses almost entirely on England, and there is very little on the culture of the US mentioned. Within those limits it is a very nice tour decade by decade of the 20th century, as described in the other reviews. Caveat emptor.
