worth it, ill get more. and then get more.
The Peak Refuel Mendes Signature 6-pack is awesome. I already really like Peak Refuel, and this pack was a great mix of meals. Everything tastes really good and works great for camping or long days out. A little pricey, but the quality is worth it.

Surprisingly good texture!
One might think that a rehydrated biscuit would be mushy. ....One would be wrong! I was pleasantly surprised to find that after 10 minutes soaking in boiled water that the biscuits in this meal were somehow crunchy and flaky (well done Peak Fuel). Also, the Bison was tasty and rich. I had a hard time finishing all of this meal; it was very filling (and most satisfying)!

Taste Changed On Season
I constantly eat MRE's due to my job sending me to the middle of nowhere for a few days, I got to try many of them and I wouldn't eat them if they didn't have flavor. I tried both the Backcountry Bison and the Venison Casserole multiple times over the course of about 2 years. Based on the season the vension will taste different. When it first came out and for about 6 months, the vension had large chunks and a lot of flavor. So much that I didn't use my black pepper and cayenne I carry with my cooler to spice food up. It does wonders to staunch hunger with half the packet for someone at about 140lbs, and it is enough for two meals in the workday. The second half of the year, the whole packet was more dispersed crumbs of venison and less tasteful, even bland. Understandable, given that they likely really wanted to give out a great product at release and companies always have to micromanage quality or adjust into it over time. The backcountry bison was mostly bland and dry from how stubbornly dehydrated the beans were, so I didn't keep with it and I didn't like the overall tomato taste when I was looking for something gamey like the venison. Into the second year, the venison tasted like a mix of the original blend and the bland second half of the year one. Which is perfect, because they were both healthier and tastier than Mountain House's Beef Stew which I didn't think could happen for an MRE with vegetables as they are. I love these for their serving quality, the venison packs. As for the bison packs, in the second year I got back into trying it. The flavor profile was enhanced, although yes still dry but the flavor's steeped further into the beans you should treat like a rice alternative when it comes to taste. I experimented added little over 3/4 cup of water to the venison and that was the sweet spot for me. Sometimes at exactly a cup or more, you'll get more broth, but if you're hungry you need something hefty. Frankly, putting less as being more, that's a win for my survival book.

Even the Raccoons Wanted In!
I took these on a backpacking trip to Havasu Falls with my meaty CrossFit buddies, and they totally inhaled them—like they were PR’ing with a fork. But guess who else wanted in? The raccoons! We had a midnight raid where they went crazy trying to steal our packets. Pro tip: stash them in a rat sack unless you want a furry rave at 2 a.m. As for taste, they’re salty enough to feel satisfying after a sweaty hike, and the macros are on point for strenuous treks. Plus, and this is a huge win, they don’t make you gassy—so you’re not turning your tent into a fart chamber (my tentmates appreciated that!). Only downside: the peaches flavor is super sugary, so if you’re not into sweet overload, you might want to skip that one. But overall, these meals are a solid pick... if you can keep the raccoons away
