Great tool
This is a great way to see the codes for a check engine light. You can also use obd2 and the live stream function for realtime feedback of certain sesors, like EVAP purge valve and Fuel Tank Pressure sensor and a lot more. You can use the IM function to see if the vehicle is inspection ready.

Does not work on my modern Subarus
OK, ANCEL needs to make it very clear that this - now deprecated, discontinued, and discounted - device provides ZERO additional functionality for the owner of an American market, Japanese-made car. Any old OBD II reader will give you the exact same codes and live feed. I do not know if it provides additional features for imported, right-hand-drive, Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) cars, because I do not own one. I own a 2020 Subaru Outback and a 2021 Legacy, both assembled in Indiana and sold in the North American market. I was lead to believe by the description that this device would read manufacturer-specific codes for individual brands, like, maybe, say, for a malfunctioning CVT. It does not. It will read the OBD II feed, but it will absolutely fail to connect if I select the Subaru brand instead of the standard OBD II interface, even after updating. And I have NEVER seen a sketchier firmware updater. You can't even find this device's page if you search Ancel's site. You will only find its successor device. You have to search Google to find the product page. And then you download a compressed RAR folder for a Windows-only driver and installer? WHAT? Thank god I have a Windows PC with 7-Zip installed. Good luck if you only have an Android or iOS device - the most popular computing platforms in the world. The installer uses a character set - presumably Asian - that Windows doesn't recognize, so you have to guess what you are doing. The instructional PDF shows a completely different interface ... in English ... with fewer options. Oh, and the tiny manual you get in the box with this thing doesn't explain ANY of this. The manual isn't even tailored to the specific device. I had to surf the complaints on Amazon to find it out. Look elsewhere. This device's support is nonexistent, and the configuration management is a mess.

Works on my 2010 Toyota Sienna XLE
Works fine with my 2010 Sienna. Read and reset the error code (O2 sensor fault). It's something i can fix myself; so the $44 price for the JOBD scanner will save me a $400 repair at the dealer. I bought a non-JOBD scanner earlier which was much cheaper but did not work. In my opinion, if you have a Japanese car, do get a JOBD reader no matter what the non-JOBD manufacturers say (that they will work with such and such Japanese cars).

No JOBD live data
This unit will only read and reset codes for JOBD. It can't read live data from JOBD. It will read live data from OBDII. I have 2 vehicles, one JOBD and OBDII otherwise I would have returned it due to no live data from JOBD. Make sure to update the firmware in the unit when you receive it, easy to do and takes less than 10 minutes.

Perfect for Japan Cars.
I have my scanner for almost two years now. I have two 2008 Toyota Vitz. 1.0 3 cyliner and a 1.5 RS. When using the tool, dont select OBD if you have a Japan only vehicle. First select the vehicle manufacturer and it will work. Most people saying it does not work are selecting OBD2. I have scanned Japanese, US, European and Chinese vehicles and it works. Reads the codes well and clears them. Always impressed with this $50.00 tool.

Ancel JP700 Works with a Suzuki JB420
My BT OBDII dongle was reporting 'connection failed' on my Suzuki JB420. I learned that vehicle was never sold in the US market, so it doesn't offer an ODBII interface to the ECM. The JP700 does not report real-time stats like RPM's etc for my JB420 (connected to JODB), but it does report sensor errors and has a reset function. I have not tried the USB interface, however, as I gather from reading the manual, I think the only USB function is to update the firmware of the JP700. If you have a supported non-US market vehicle, this device is worth the money. This reader is supposed to work with ODBII vehicles (US market) as well, however in my opinion the BT or wifi dongles connected to phone/computer app provide more interesting data. The Ancel JP700 appears to be well-constructed and durable, made to withstand use over time.

Tiny bad boy. Easy to use.
I had doubts buying it cause of the rate but once I used it for the first time, I knew every word on the listing was true. I like that it is so simple to use, no hidden menu or deep menu like others. Just straight forward. I like that it is able to be updated from your computer when they release new cars to add to it. I like that it comes with a bumper case to minimize damage. Cable is an old old micro usb port so you can’t lose it. Clearing the codes is a hit or miss.

Works great with my jdm car. I couldn't find a scanner that would scan my toyota altezza however I saw this one recommended on a forum and it worked great, was able to scan and also clear the check engine light. Highly recommended if you own a jdm car in North America

I needed this device for a Japanese imported car which does not accept the usual ODB 2 system, instead needing JODB. The scanner worked without any issues whatsoever, quickly and easily showing all relevant information. I was also pleased that it not only showed what the fault code was, but also explained what the code means (which another device I have does not use). I now use this device for my Volvo as well as the Japanese car as it is not limited to JODB. The scanner is nice and rugged with rugged grips, so no fears of it being damaged.
