Got this to replace a cheap off brand collar. The quality is night and day. Haven’t needed to use it at its max range but have used it much further than the cheap one. The quality of the remote is much better and the corrections are very consistent. The adjustment of the of the shock setting is nice. This model has the beep/tone mode. The battery life is decent but you definitely have to stay on top of it. The remote will tell you when it’s getting low. Overall very happy with this over the cheaper option. This company was recommended by a handful or dog trainers and owners of working dogs

I have used dogtra 33yrs, successfully. Dogtra 230c malfunctioned after 2 yrs continuous use.Purchased Dogtra 280x yesterday for those moments of wildlife chases, my 9yr old malinois needs minimal corrections otherwise.My malionis is trained, German, English, off leash, 100% recall and hand signals with the assistance of Dogtra 280C.One tap together, remote and collar, comes running immediately, he know he will be going out.This Dogtra 280x unit is a powerful, please check setting starting a extremely low regardless what setting was previously performance level use. 280c setting 52,280x setting 23.Also, I like is the turn on beep remote, beep turn collar, separately, rather than pairing. This insure both unit are on. Also, light on collar is a bonus.Ok, back to distance off leash, 100% recall !Thank you, Dogtra

So far so good. They are definitely making their money on this thing. Hard to believe it costs what it does. That said, I did buy a cheaper one first, and level 1 on that thing was level 16 on this! My dog responds to this thing at level 4.. so yeah.. I was cooking my sweet little baby May-may.The more finite control of the "shock" and the boost button make this a win for me. The collar strap however is something you'll absolutely want to replace right away. No way am I going to fight my dog every time I want to put that thing on. There are bungee options out there that I may end up with (3/4"), but for now I'm using the strap off the cheaper unit I bought. The only other gripe I have, I can't turn the collar on or off without taking it off my dog. Imagine fighting with the collar, finally getting it tight enough and then realizing you have to take it off to turn the dumb thing on!

This is the e-collar my trainers recommended because it has 110 different settings. Some only have ten settings and where one setting might not get the dog’s attention, the next one might scare it and make it yelp in pain. This is a great training tool and the flexibility makes it safer and kinder. I charge mine every night. I think it can go a couple of days, but we are working on reactivity and I want to be consistent. It has been a great tool for training better behaviors. I do recommend a third-party bungie collar. Makes it much easier to get on and off.

The collar is very cheap and flimsy. The contacts keep flipping around. I have a great Pyrenees. The remote does work fine, easy to use. But I've seen brighter locating light and tone from much cheaper models from different a company. I use the tone to locate where the dog is, and I can't hear it, when he's just 50 feet away. I'm disappointed because this model was so expensive.

Dog trainer asked me to buy this and trained me how to use it. It's great. She said not to over charge it. So I just charge it for an hour here and there.
