Learn Spanish with Paul Noble for Beginners – Complete Course: Spanish Made Easy with Your Personal Language Coach

I usually take gushing reviews with a pinch of salt, but Paul Nobles course really does seem to work! I am the typical product of British school language teaching of 40 years ago, and so despite the best efforts of my teachers to beat into me how to conjugate verbs in Latin, French and Russian I have (had!!) no language other than my mother tongue. This has had a profound effect on my life, and meant avoiding foreign holidays to anywhere that didn't speak good English. Such a shame... Anyway family forced the issue a couple of years ago and off we went to Spain for a week. Loved it so much, I returned twice more in the following 12 months with my motorbike mates. Fantastic! Just so embarrassing not being able to converse with the Spanish. Soooo, tried a few teach yourself books, and then Rosetta Stone. No go, just didn't stick. And cost a packet too. On the verge of giving up I saw Paul Nobles course mentioned, found I could get it on Amazon for a very good price and gave it a go. I bought a little MP3 player too, loaded the files and have spend most of my lunch breaks and morning walks listening and speaking, listening and speaking.. And now I can speak some really useful Spanish! Even more interesting, I'm hungry for more! Just awesome. If only my teachers had used such as technique as this way 40 years ago. Give it a go. It works.

My first attempt to learn Spanish was with a CD set from the US. It was quite good. It was Latin American Spanish though, so I stopped after a couple of weeks and switched to Collins "Easy learning Spanish", which is Castillan. However, I had to stop that course after 4 months. I had just got into the part 2, but it was such an uphill task. I got Paul Nobles' course to replace it. Paul Nobles' course is simply fantastic. He just eases you into it. He makes Spanish so familiar for the native English speaker. I never knew that so much of the English language is Latin rooted. He is repetitive when necessary, without becoming tedious. Late in the course, the native speakers are speaking fairly quickly, but you don't notice. They speed up gradually, so you're not even aware of your own improvement. I highly recommend this course, even if you think you're no good at learning languages.

I purchased this instead of the Michael Thomas set because of the price difference and reviews. However I have since purchased the MT set at the same price as PN and there is a clear difference between the two. Although PN does a lot of repetition and uses the same words it helped me remember the phrases, so now I can easily construct my own sentences as I learn more vocabulary. PN does go at a very slow pace and I particularly liked that, I know it may not appease everyone because some people can learn and retain information more quickly. I'm 52 and my learning capacity is not like it used to be. However when I started on the MT cd it was far more superior from disc one. You learn a lot more vocabulary and it seems a more natural way to speak, he appears to use everyday language. I'm only up to CD three and I've learnt more in them 3 CD,s than I did in the whole course of PN. You can do a PN CD and normally retain the information without having to go back. With MT there is so much in one disc I find I have to listen to each CD at least three times to retain and understand the information. So value wise you get a lot more for your money from MT. But I've given PN 4 stars because he goes at a slower pace and builds you up ready for MT. You can also tell that PN has been heavily influenced by MT and it will become obvious where, when you listen. PN uses native speakers from Latin America and Spain which helps you to understand the pronunciation, however MT uses two students. I liked MT use of the two students, it helped me pronounce the words correctly and I made the same mistakes as the students, so you literally feel as though you are the third student. Some people have complained that he corrects them too much, but without the correct pronunciation you may not be understood. I'm really looking forward to holidaying this year in Spain and eventually moving there. Both CDs have given me a lot more confidence but overall I would give MT 5 stars for better value for money. PN loses a star because he uses far less vocabulary

I thought I'd give this a go as I am fascinated by languages but find them difficult to retain, My son bought the French course & it makes it so easy to understand that I treated myself to the Spanish one. The fact that you begin with sentences encourages you to continue as you truly feel you are making progress. There is no pressure to get it right first time as you work to your own speed with no one but yourself judging you, & they don't even mind how many times they have to repeat something until you feel confident you have it. My brother speaks a little Spanish & after one day I called him to practice (haltingly I confess), asking for a room with bath for two people for two nights then reserving a table for dinner. I was amazed that he could tell me exactly what I had said & praised me on my accent! A fantastic course with various pronunciation given (Spain or Americas) to get you through every day situations as a traveller & I can't rate it highly enough. I'll certainly be getting more, great fun & a great sense of achievement. Deserves more stars.

I had been using other learning spanish options that just didn't seem to be working for me. So in an effort to prove that I could speak Spanish I thought I would give this course a "last try". And to be fair it has done the job for me. The course is some 13+ hours and it takes you through a limited amount of vocabulary during that time, but what it does give that other courses I had tried had not is to provide some context about how to formulate spanish so that you can build on your vocabulary. I have completed the course once and am now heading through it a second time, and intend to keep listening while also looking at other areas to improve and expand my vocabulary. Paul is easy to listen to, explains things well, and with this repetitive approach it does seem to be sticking in my memory. You can listen to this audiobook in a number of ways, for me I have it loaded onto my Sandisk mp3 player so I can listen when running, or in the car using the auxiliary port. I think if I had a decent phone I could probably bluetooth pair to the car and listen that way, but i have a rubbish phone. I also have it available via the Amazon echo devices which is really useful to have that in the background when your doing other things. This really worked for me so happy to recommend it.

I thinks it is difficult to rate a language course, but I have rated this one at 5 stars simply because I have enjoyed doing it and it has met my requirements at this time. Over thirty years ago I studied French for about 5 years at school to scrape an ‘O’ level (GCSE) pass which I have attempted to use on a handful of French holidays since then. Since school I have not attempted to learn Spanish (or any other language). I chose this course because I liked the idea of a focus on spoken Spanish, and I was intrigued by the suggestion of a different approach to language learning. The way I used this course was to listen to a few sections each day when out walking. Since I am out and about in uncrowded areas, I could easily say all the material out loud, with only the slight risk that someone who knows Spanish might hear me and wonder why I am loudly announcing ‘a kilo of mangoes’ to no one in particular. Although the course suggests not trying to learn the material and not to worry about getting it wrong, I found that listening to each section a few times worked best for me (e.g., Listening to sections 3-6 one day then 5-8 the next day etc). Since the course has a lot of repetition and revision sections, this may not have been necessary, but it seemed to suit me. (Looking at the music player statistics afterwards it looks like I listened to each section an average of 3 times with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 7). There are pauses provided in the material for you to say a response. Sometimes I struggled to find a response in that time and very occasionally it seemed that just not enough time was provided for a response even if you knew what to say. The instructions suggest pausing the playback to give yourself time, but this was just not practical for me to do and I did not do this. The course does just seem to jump straight in at the start and to jump about a lot, and there is very little reference to any grammatical terms, tenses etc, but surprisingly for me it did seem to build in an understandable way. I normally like things to be very logical and structured (I naturally like to see tables of information etc) but I enjoyed this approach. It did not always seem that logical (you cover yes in one section and no in a totally different one, you cover Spanish for ‘this evening’ and ‘this afternoon’ but not ‘this morning’ etc) but overall, it does seem to follow a natural progression. As other reviewers have commented it is highly repetitive, but that is what helped me to remember things. There is a limited set of vocabulary used, but the course contents do provide basics that will help in several common situations such as booking a room in a hotel, restaurants, doctors, asking directions and decorating a house(!). Whilst I do not think that there is huge breadth to the vocabulary used in the course, I do feel that it has provided me with a tool kit that I hope will help in many situations in Spain and will give me greater confidence in understanding and being understood. I will be looking at additional courses (including the Paul Noble follow-on course) to continue my study, but I do feel that this has been a great start (but yet to be proven by actually speaking Spanish to a Spanish person!). Note that the course does cover Castilian and Latin American Spanish with most phrases spoken in both. As advised, I focussed on just one of these, but I am not sure of the value of having both in the same course. The course comes with a very thin booklet, which as advised I have hardly looked at before completing the course, but I am looking at it now to try to link back the pronunciations that I have learnt with the written words.

Wow! I am impressed. A few weeks ago I could speak a handful of words and now I can actually speak and be understood - excellent!!! I listen to each CD about 3 times and repeat in Spanish what Paul Noble says in English. It isn't the same a learning Spanish at school for 2 years, but then you shouldn't expect that. I am just over half way through the course and by the end I'm sure I won't be fluent, but well on the way to being able to have a conversation in Spanish. It's easy to follow, pretty clear pronunciations by the native speakers. Paul does repeat 'rules' regarding words and how you should use them, but for someone who hasn't learnt a language in years it is still helpful. I play these in the car whilst going to and from work and it works! Obviously if you want to become fluent you need to do more, but it is an excellent start (and cheaper than some of the alternatives!). Excellent buy would thoroughly recommend if you want something to get you started.

I never put reviews on anything, but felt compelled to here. I have been struggling with Spanish for around 4 years, falling in and out of love with it and using around 4-5 different CD/DVD courses, online Skype sessions with native speakers and books. I got the feeling that languages were not for me, and wondered how I actually mastered English! As the last throw of the dice, I read the reviews on here and took one final plunge. WOW. Paul instantly, from the first few tracks of the first CD, breaks down the rules that a lot of us don't understand, and covers the main points of how Spanish speakers construct sentences with a clear set of easy to remember rules. I am only at the end of the first CD, but already the mist has cleared and, although I know quite a few Spanish words, I can now construct them effectively. I listen in the car and at home, and I actually look forward to putting the next track on with some excitement. A brilliant tutor, a great (non-annoying) style, and he easily covers Latin American and Castilian versions of the language by using male and female speakers throughout, with the male covering the different pronunciation for Latin America. Wonderful, you will not be disappointed with this. If you can't learn Spanish from this, you really need to give up!!

This actually works. The method manipulates the natural way we learn languages via repetition and context. I'm going through the course for fun, one cd per every 3-7 days, and I remember more than I forget. And when I do forget words, Paul eventually reminds me as the course goes on and that causes me to reinforce those lost words in memory until I no longer forget them. I love the way the course had me forming sentences based on real life scenarios right from the start. Hands down the best course for learning Spanish. If you invest in this, you won't be disappointed and will learn Spanish, guaranteed. I'm shocked at how effective it is, really. Shocked.

Today, I’m going to review “Learn Spanish with Paul Noble for Beginners.” This is not the first Spanish program from Paul Noble that I have purchased. I’m very familiar with his programs and I must say they are among the best. There are many things that I really like about Paul Noble’s style of teaching Spanish. He has a no-pressure style of teaching. He starts out by giving you some “ground rules” on how to get the most out of his program. For example, he recommends that you do not actively try to memorize the material. There are pauses for you to answer his questions before the Spanish speakers says the correct answers. But he tells you to feel free to use your pause button and think about your answers before responding. He also recommends that you do not write any notes when studying with his program. That was some of the best advice that I ever received in a Spanish program – because no one has the time to review the notes they’ve written down. As part of Paul Noble’s no-pressure style of teaching Spanish, he also tells you to not worry about making any mistakes when learning Spanish. His “ground rules” and no-pressure style of teaching really put me at ease so that I could easily absorb and recall the Spanish he teaches. This is one of the few Spanish programs that teaches both the Latin American Spanish pronunciation and European Spanish pronunciation. Personally, I would have preferred if the program only featured voice actors from Latin America - because the majority of the Spanish speakers who I meet are from Latin America. The only real weakness in this program is the same weakness that I have found in many other Spanish programs. Many of my Spanish speaking friends are millennials and we talk about social media. We also work in computers and technology. This program doesn’t cover much Spanish for computers and technology or social media. Even with this one flaw, I still give it 5 stars based upon its effective teaching method. In closing, I’ll leave you with the 4 learning-Spanish resources which are currently my favorites. (My list of favorites changes from time to time): 1. 501 Spanish Verbs (501 Verb Series) If you think you can accomplish fluency in Spanish as an adult without mastering conjugating Spanish verbs, you are only fooling yourself. This book is an absolute essential resource for learning how to conjugate Spanish verbs. It will show you how to conjugate every Spanish verb tense imaginable. This is my NUMERO UNO resource for learning Spanish. 2. Millennial Spanish - Millennial Spanish - Learn Beginner Spanish: Learn & Speak Conversational Spanish This is my favorite learning-Spanish audio program. What I like most about it is that it teaches Spanish for the new millennium. Instead of learning Spanish centered around the same old conversations that most Spanish programs cover – such as checking in a hotel or eating at a restaurant - you learn Spanish for conversations centered around social media, technology and computers, veganism and even Uber transportation. This audio Spanish program also meets all my other criteria for being a top-notch Spanish program: Only features native Spanish speakers to develop listening comprehension and proper pronunciation in Spanish, and has a fun and engaging teaching method. The ebook alone will not do the job. You'll need to get the Audiobook at Amazon or Audible to get the most out of this learning Spanish program. 3. Learning Spanish Like Crazy Level 1 - New & Improved Version: Learn Beginner Spanish Bundle: Lessons 1 to 30 This is my second favorite learning-Spanish audio program. There's an "original" version of this audiobook that can be found on Amazon but this is the New & Improved Version. What stands out about this audio program is the style of teaching used. The teaching style is very engaging and interactive. The Spanish instructor is constantly interacting with the student and allowing the student to participate. Since the speakers in the audiobook are all native Spanish speakers, it really helps you to develop an authentic accent. But what appeals to me most is that there is a major emphasis on everyday, conversational Spanish unlike the Spanish taught in most audio programs which teach more academic or formal Spanish. Besides the beginner program, there is an intermediate version: Learn Intermediate Spanish Bundle: The Ultimate Learning Intermediate Spanish Bundle: Lessons 31 to 60 from Learning Spanish Like Crazy Level Two There is also a version for advanced students: Learn Advanced Spanish Bundle: Includes Both New Version & Original Version of Learning Spanish Like Crazy Level Three: The Ultimate Learning Advanced Spanish Bundle You will need the audiobooks. The ebooks alone will not be enough to learn Spanish effectively. All three audiobooks include a PDF transcript which can be found in your Audible library so there's really no need to buy the ebook. 4. Accelerated Spanish: Learn fluent Spanish with a proven accelerated learning system is my favorite learning Spanish ebook and that is because it does double duty. It has taught me numerous Spanish-learning hacks. And I have also learned countless techniques to enhance my memory. Not only am I able to use these techniques to remember all the vocabulary and grammar I learn when studying a foreign language, but I can also use the techniques to effectively remember anything, from small, minute daily tasks to insights that can have an everlasting impact. There is also a hardcover version of Accelerated Spanish.

I liked how fast one can learn to order coffee with the first cd. I really like that there are two (one male and one female) repeating the pronunciations in spanish. What I dont like is that I'm unsure which spanish speaking country this cd is aiming to assist getting by in, since as the author mentions that different accents and phrases are used in different regions, like American vs England english. I really enjoyed the part about English being derived from Old German and Latin. I felt like a kid again sharing this "Did you know" information with my family. I purchased this to help me remember the basics and test out of the college level foreign language requirements. I am not sure if this will help with that, which is disappointing for such a steep price. I would like it more also if a text accompanied the cd to read along with what the speakers are saying to become familiar with the spellings and because other users have commented that the difficulty increases. I took Spanish in high school, and distinctly remember one of the first classes teaching I in english is Yo in espanol. This is nowhere mentioned in at least the first cd. So I am a little confused, but I will continue on with the cds in hope they end up being worth it.

Yes, you need this if you want to understand Spanish. I work and live in Miami, and trust me, this has made my life so much better because I love Latin people and they appreciate that I am trying and I can help them too. This course if very very good. It is basic, so you're not going to be super fluent, but you will understand so much more than you thought possible.

I really appreciate the way Paul Noble teaches this course. You start out with very simple words and short phrases and slowly build on this to much more complicated phrases. Everything is practical and related to real life. It's a great introduction to speaking Spanish.
