A grieving widow. A man with her husband's heart. And a devastating connection neither of them saw coming. From USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Hartmann comes a hauntingly emotional standalone romance that will shatter you, stitch you up, and leave you aching for more. Melody March had her future all planned out, and it was a fairy tale. Then, on her five-year wedding anniversary, her dreams shattered. Her husband was cruelly ripped away from her, leaving her broken heart behind. But he left another heart behind, too: his. Drowning in grief, Melody reaches out to her husband's heart recipient and seeks solace in a support group for fellow lost souls. She's determined to find the bright, optimistic woman she used to be, and the man with the only remaining piece of her husband―but she doesn't expect what else awaits her. Enter Parker. Dark, brooding, and emotionally detached, he's Melody's opposite in every way, yet she's inexplicably drawn to him. But as their bond burns brighter, so do the secrets that come to light, challenging everything they thought they knew about love and loss, grief and hope. Melody already lost her heart once. Now, another heart holds the power to heal her…or destroy her. Perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover, Mia Sheridan, and Brittainy C. Cherry, this is a story of grief, second chances, and love that dares to bloom in the shadow of loss. A Meant To Be Dark (ish) Love Story With a Powerful Twist
The Wrong Heart is a beautiful story of love, growth, fate, heartache, karmic connections, secrets, serendipity, pain, healing, yearning, discomfort, surrender, arrested development, and soul-healing connections. It would almost be reductive to call this a grumpy-sunshine dynamic, but most of us would probably use those words. Both characters are in pain and navigating it differently, ultimately leading them to one another. Our MMC is loveable (even when he isn't), private, protective, and struggling, and he holds deep emotions close to his chest that most would overlook. Our FMC sees him. Really sees him. She is vulnerable, sweet, sensitive, also struggling, and in need of emotional resuscitation and the possibility of a future that was cruelly ripped away from her. The twists in this book kept on coming, and each one was stunning. I could not put it down. The journey these two characters find themselves on as their paths cross is relatable, sweet, romantic, sad, spicy, inspiring, and ultimately life-changing. This is definitely the happiest of happily ever afters; our main characters have to go on quite a journey of transformation at first. What I loved most about this story is that it captured moments when strong, loving, and resilient parts of ourselves can be revealed in moments of crisis. And we may meet a version of ourselves that we never saw coming. The epilogue of this book shook me to my core. I was not expecting it at all. It was heart-expanding and instilled a sense of sweetness and hope I could have never seen coming. If you have ever felt your story was over, doors had closed, or happiness would never come around again, this book is for you.

So emotional and hopeful! This book will stay with me a long, long time!
Jennifer Hartman is a new author to me and The Wrong Heart caught my eye. I was in need of a deep lethargic cry and let me tell you, the overview and all of the five star reviews lived up to its promise. For several hours I read this book straight through; I couldn’t put it down and was so engrossed with where the author was taking me. I cried quiet a few times but also felt hopeful. I’ve read over 5000 books and Parker is at the top of my list for the most curmudgeony. The author spares no detail in his devastatingly painful upbringing and humanizes him with her beautiful poignant words. He meets our heroine, Melody in a self-help group for those suffering from depression and/or suicidal ideation, so buyer beware, there are triggers in this book. Melody is recently widowed and is feeling tremendous loss and pain, but also guilt. Even though she is depressed, she is optimistic and such a breath of fresh air. Melody is sunshine where he is a dark gloomy cloud, and she can’t help but be drawn to him and want to help. Parker’s directness and honesty is funny/not funny and is one of the most guarded characters I have ever read. He lets people know straight up how he feels and makes no excuses. But Melody hangs in there, she doesn’t allow him to mistreat her, but doesn’t give up hope that she can get through to him someone. Through a series of events outside of the group session, they meet and start to form, dare I say–a friendship? Honestly, this story really broke me how they slowly got to know one another and share parts of themselves. I loved how his foster sister never gave up on him either and was such a positive influence in his life. There is a twist at the end that I did not see coming, and while I always think I am clever and can figure everything out, this one caught me by surprise. This book does have a very happy ending and I felt such relief and jubilation for Parker and Melody. And the best part of all is that the author gifts us with TWO epilogues. The second one is way into the future and let me tell you, I cried and cried it was that emotionally moving and beautiful. The Wrong Heart was powerful and their love story will stay with me a long, long time.

Ugh this is so much more than a love story it's a revolution of life and the afters.
This book gutted me in the first four percent in and the ending was heart- breakingly beautiful. Just like the line in this book it's not just a love story but a revolution of life and what you make of that life. Yes there is deep sadness with a loss of a love one and when you think of all the what ifs or could have been moments, you feel those very same emotions when reading Melody's journey after losing her husband. The author gives you those maddening moments of how do live or function without that person and when is it ever ok to try to move on or should you just never move at all because you feel the immense guilt of still being alive but not truly living again. This book gives hope that there is a purpose on the other side but it's your choice to move through the grief and sadness to find your strength once again but never forgetting that missing piece that will forever follow you but doesn't define you as just the heart broken person but a true survivor. This book touches of so many powerful emotions from loss, to guilt, to abuse, to hope, and to forgiveness, so if your looking to for a book to give you every feel possible I suggest you grab this book and get ready to have a powerful emotional experience like no other. Parker was an amazing character to watch evolve throughout this book. The author gives you such an amazing reference of what it would be like to be broken inside and to cut off human contact so you don't need to feel emotions any more. I think I felt so much of his pain in his story as a child to becoming an adult with a hindered connection that most of us strive to find only to watch him slowly break and rebuild his heart, once he finally feels that one emotion he never seemed to truly feel before was being seen inside not just his outside appearance. This character was gripping and raw with such disdain for life but just one smile from the right person brings everything to a halt and flips his world upside down. This book has many layers and even a few twists that will have you needing to know what will happen next because it's a heart pounding emotional journey that these characters take you on. So yes I highly recommend this book and know that this author is able to weave a story from loss to acceptance and finding your way once again in the most dire circumstances. There are not enough stars to give this book it is beyond gripping and emotional it's just so much more than your heart can take at times but she leaves you with an ending that will tug at your heart and make you shed a few tears but it's a perfect ending for these two characters.

Me most of the book: 😭😭
This book emotionally wrecked me 😭😭 It was raw, heartbreaking, and beautifully written. JH has a way of making grief, love and healing feel so real it hurts in the best way. Parker and Melody are both deeply flawed and human, and their journey is heavy and emotional.

Best book ever!
“We hold the key to our own happiness, and what we put on the other side of that door is entirely up to us.” Well, I know if I will love a book at the beginning. This book took my breath away! This story was a poetry and had so much power, caring and love. The characters were built with so much personality. Thank you author for sharing this amazing story!

Thank you so much for this.
I am a fan for a long time now and I pre-ordered the book. You never disappoint. The story was so deep, so beautifully written und the characters were so deep developed. I loved the dynamic between Parker and Melody , I so loved it... I am always afraid that I will lose my boyfriend, because sometimes happiness is so overwhelming that you get used to it, you take it for granted-especially when you find your other half in an early age and you are one of the lucky ones who don't have to search for long-. All it takes is a fateful moment and everything can be taken away from you. I so much sympathized with Melody, I don't know how I would react if something like that happened to me... it made think... it made me feel... So thank you. Thank you really, because your books and especially this one taught me things. I will appreciate more. I promise to Charlie 😊

Many tears were shed
I finished this book the same way I started it, crying. Don’t worry though, I cried in the middle of the book too. I may have been a tad emotional. The book is just beautifully written. I loved the storytelling and I was so engrossed that I finished it in one sitting. It was a rollercoaster of emotions and I couldn’t get off the ride. There are some parts of the story I could have done without, but it was an enjoyable read overall. I’d rather not spoil it so if you are looking for an emotional, tragic yet sweet and happy love story, take a chance on this book. 4.5/5
