I'm not sure exactly how accurate this thermometer is because I don't have anything to compare it to - but I made candles for the first time recently and it was a success - I followed instructions very closely and used this thermometer to gage my temperature readings. It worked great. The clip slides up and down the thermometer so I was able to adjust it based on how deep my pot is. Worked great for me, as I'm sure it would for all but the professionals or folks who would use it constantly. For me I figure I'll do it a few times/year. -D

This is a great thermomenter, the only thing I have to say is that if you are making candles in a large 4 lb pouring pot and do not have it filled up to at least the halfway mark, it will not reach into the melted wax.

Used this to monitor the temperature of melting wax for making candles. It's easy to read and easy to attach to the melting pot. Just what is needed to keep track of what the wax is doing.
