Champion Power Equipment 4000-Watt RV Ready Portable Inverter Generator with Quiet Technology and Free 3-Year Warranty

Update: I now have 55 hours on this generator and I am beyond impressed. I fabricated a generator mount for the front of my trailer, (See Picture), so I can run the generator while we are going down the road. (Keeps the inside of the trailer nice and cool)- and, yes, I have straps to hold it down when traveling (not shown in photo) I took it on a 3 day dry camping family vacation when the weather was very hot in August. Our Winnebago Voyage travel trailer has 2) 15,000 BTU Dometic rooftop AC’s and we had to have one of them on at all times. The Champion had no problem running one Air Conditioner at a time along with lights, and our large 12-volt RV fridge. It could not run the AC and the microwave oven at the same time. I really like the overload feature: if the generator goes into overload, it keeps running and a red light comes on the control panel, all you have to do to reset it is press the red button and it will start generating again (easy!) I have no concerns about running it all night under load until it runs out of gas, it does not damage the generator and it starts right back up after refilling. I disabled the CO detector (Thanks YouTube!!!!) it was easy and the generator has no issues with a hyperactive CO detector. On our trip running 24/7, It went through about 5 gallons every 24 hours, (the AC’s ran all day and most of the night) It didn’t burn any oil, started easily and was very quiet. I am more impressed with the quality of this generator every time I use it. So far no negatives, this is a quality generator especially for the price. Here is my original review: I have run it through its paces and it came out with flying colors! What I love about this generator: 1. It came really well packaged - no damage 2. It came with oil and a funnel 3. The door to check/add the oil has quarter-turn fasteners (no tools required) 4. Starts easy…I mean really easy ! 5. It is very quiet 6. Very light weight (47 pounds) 7. Very powerful - 4000 watts What I don’t like: 1. So far..nothing…. I did a 7 hour break-in and ran my 27 ft travel trailer with it. It started the 15,000 BTU Air conditioner with no problems. I ran the AC for 7 hours on one tank of fuel (the blower ran all 7 hours..the AC compressor ran for two hours) After the break-in period, the oil was pretty dark (not black, just grey) I changed the oil and put in Full Synthetic 10-30 oil. The oil change is easy if you buy one of those oil change suction devices. The controls are easy to understand, it seems like a very quality generator. I expect it to last many, many years.

Works great. Very light for a generator. Ensure you fallow the directions and maintenance for trouble free operation. The manufacturer sent me a free high altitude kit upon request.

Ordered 2 of these to link together. Did the 5 hour break in pausing to let them cool and check the oil a couple times. Both machines started on the first pull after adding the oil. Each time I started them later they again started on the first pull. I used various small loads like a Milwaukee charger and different size fans. Haven’t had time to put a heavy load on them yet. So much quieter than my big open frame generator.

When I received my first generator I noticed a small defect in the case enclosure. Having read the instructions, as always, it was recommended to put oil and gas in the unit and run it for a break-in period. While running it and connected it to our travel trailer, I noticed a small defect in the case (see picture below) that would allow water, dust, bugs into the generator. I could have easily fixed this with black caulk & duct tape, but after spending nearly $600 on this unit I didn't feel like fixing their QA defect myself. Fast forward 72 hours: I called Champion Customer service and since I put oil/gas in the unit, per instructions, I could not return this. They suggested I notify Amazon Customer Service, and after speaking with a very nice agent I was told I could keep the unit and get a full refund, or they will ship a new unit out, no charge, and I could keep both! I received my new unit within 48 hours The generator works perfectly and fulfills all our needs. Would recommend this unit.

Im sitting here actually laughing writing this review. I’ve been wrenching on cars for 28 years, and was a small engine mechanic before that. I remember when these guys came out, and I’m a brand name b*****d. As we all know, quality in a product nowadays is NOT what it was a decade or more ago especially from familiar names. This thing really is an engineering marvel. I know my stuff, do my research repetitively, and I’m humored that this company crammed a 149cc engine in this with a considerable punch, while making an a$$ out of the biggest brands in portable power. The unit I looked at was 3300 starting watts, no fuel shut off, no gauge for the fuel, 10 pounds heavier, only 2500 watts running and bigger. And significantly more expensive. 799 that is, plus not having a good rap for customer service. This one boasts considerably more power, a fuel gauge, lighter, longer run time, better build quality and I can keep going. It’s exciting to see. Do your research, this company really has something when it comes to build quality, ease of use, maintenance, and very clear instructions along with 24 hour customer support. Good luck finding anyone that offers that nowadays. In a world that quality and service is not what it used to be, I suggest you look very closely at this company, you won’t regret it.

Amazon is a ripoff! Buyer beware! We purchased this generator in December 2024. We used it maybe twice for very short periods. It was always hard to start despite the advertisement saying the opposite. Then about 10 months after purchasing when we needed it to work it refused to keep running. It would start up, run for a couple minutes and shut off. Then it would be impossible to start it up again. We contacted Champion customer support who walked us through many efforts at troubleshooting which eventually ended in having to take it to an authorized repair center. Today I was informed that the generator is beyond repair and will not be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Apparently it was allowed to run continuously with zero maintenance evidenced by the fact that there was lots of dirt and debris inside the engine. And apparently the oil was never changed. I was shocked! This was sold as a brand new item, not a refurbished one. It came from Amazon in this shape. Disgusting! Apparently it was a return which must’ve been shined up, put into a brand new box and resold as new to an unsuspecting customer. Too bad we didn’t run a thorough test on it within the return window. Now it is too late to get our money back. But it not too late to give a bad review. I wish I could give minus 5 stars. I am sure this Champion generator is a very good product in itself. Purchasing it from Amazon was the downfall. Best price is not always best price as in our case we lost it all and still do not have a generator.

I was all excited and happy when I got the generator. I was reading through the instructions and could not find where to hook my propane lines up to the generator. I went on YouTube and one video showed the exact location where the poropane line gets hooked up. I checked my generator and it did not have the propane line hook up. I was very upset and mad at myself for not catching this critical error. I wish there was a clear label that this was gas only. It would have saved me the frustration! I am an AC contractor and I will be out of town for the following week. I won't be able to return this and get another one in time before I leave!

Great Generator.. Put oil and gas in.. Started on Second pull... Ised it last weekend for the first time... Does exactly what I need..

Excellent 4000w inverter generator! Powers a 13k rv air-conditioner no problem!.. Runs excellent so far.. I only have 27 hours on it so far.. Time will tell how it holds up.. So far I'm very happy with it!
