Wake Up Sid [Blu-ray]

Full of life, love, and dispair.Wake up Sid was a joy to watch, a refreshng tale of friendship, kindness, falling out, and trust. Great visuals and shot beautifully.The views of Mumbai(Bombay) were so wonderful, I fell in love with the film and the city. This movie above all else has a seemless blend of time and awakens the senses and feelings. I haven't felt this way watching a movie in a while and was very surprised at this production. Most teenagers don't have a clue about what they want to do, this is a tale of one such pure hearted child on his adventure along with his friends. Well done to the cast, truely lifelike performances.

This sweet romance is great entertainment, has wonderful music and will even go down well with all those who are not too keen on Bollywood. Technically it is top notch. The casting is enlightened and brings together two of Bollywood's most talented actors. If you have never watched an Indian mainstream film, this is the one you should start with. And if you know Indian mainstream stuff, this is better than most, an old story, granted, but told in a fresh and wonderfully sensitive way with very good performances from all the cast.

Excellent, sweet movie. Love the theme of the vital importance of women in helping boys/men to grow up.

Toller Film! Schoene Geschichte mit Ecken und Kanten. Juengerer Mann, aeltere Frau (wenn auch nur ein paar Jahre) werden Freunde und dann vielleicht mehr. Sehr schoene stimmungsvolle Aufnahmen von Mumbai. Nicht ganz klassisch Bollywood aber sehr sehenswert!

The titular 'Sid' (Ranbir Kapoor) is easy to dislike in the beginning of this film - so much so it was actually difficult to watch for the first half-hour. He's entitled, lazy, messy, blames his problems on everyone else, and sulks a lot. When his wealthy father kicks him out for 1) failing his college exams and b) being a weapons-grade ingrate, he turns to his upwardly mobile, independent, mature female friend Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma) for somewhere to stay. Essentially the film revolves around Sid 'waking up' and finding a direction in life, and his changing relationship with Aisha, who begins to find his newfound sense of purpose surprisingly difficult to accept. The two leads, Kapoor and Sharma, have great chemistry and inhabit their roles well. (I wonder if Kapoor could identify with this role somewhat due to his family pedigree in the film industry). Of course, the plot is entirely predictable, but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment too much. It's well shot, does a fairly good job of being a postcard for Mumbai, and the soundtrack is serviceable enough.

Great story about how a friendship can help a spoiled young man turn to a real man. My favorite part is the happy he was when he learn cook a egg. Honestly I love the movie, its different and fresh. The music is good. Kappor performance is so charming and enchanted I became and instant fan.

A flop of first magnitude. Some fine lyrics by the venerable atheist Javed Akhtar. The story line is a rehash of so many other forgettable Bollywood movies that you are better off NOT watching this one. Use your time on earth wisely!
