STORY This is the story of how Remy the rat, a budding proprietor of the joys of food, rose from his stereotype ranks to become a expert on fine cuisine, yet it is so much more than that, it's symbolic of all cultures that underestimate and segregate other cultures. Hence there are many adults I would recommend this film to subliminally tell them to be more open minded! Symbolism aside, it's charming tale of a small rat facing a big world via his passions for food. The events early on in the film lead him to a Parisian restaurant where he encounters the restaurant that is the legacy of his TV chef hero. There he manages to befriend a hopeless sap of a chef, from which a zany partnership ensues. Though it follows a predictable animated movie plot (Small guy, becomes a good at something. becomes big guy, upsets those around him by selfish behaviour, reconciles by performing a big brave gesture) its all done with the elegance we have come to expect from pixar now, beautifully scripted, no bad voice acting, likeable characters, and a general sense of cohesion and flow, culminating in a pristinely done ending. BLU RAY QUALITY I bought Ratatouille just to see its prowess on bluray and I wasn't disappointed. As soon as Remy steps on to the screen, you can see every strand of fur in all its flowing glory. Its enthralling enough to look at that sometimes I was watching the film and not listening to it, missing bits of plot. Its graphically flawless as one comes to expect from a CGI animation like this and the colours are bold and strong with a wide ranging palette used in the film. There is no grain in the image and no blurriness apart from when intentionally added to the backgrounds to shift the focus. Sound is clean and clear with voices easily audible and plenty of work is evident on creating the background sound effects such as of a busy restaurant kitchen. OVERALL This is definitely a bluray show off disc. Its worth buying just to ogle at the marvel of the technology used but it also helps that the film is of such a high quality. I don't think this is necessarily Pixars best, but it has an abundance of charm and quality that permeates through to your inner child.

Wow .. what an absolutly stunningly buitifull film ratatouille is ! The story is as meaningfull as it is funny and will have you laughing and crying at the same time ! The visuals are amazing and the hi-def animation is a wonder to just watch ! but luckly for us we have ears so we can hear the awsom surround sound that this film offers as well. Disney have realy out done them selves with the quality of this blueray and I found my self on many occasions just pausing the film so i could walk up to my screen and just look at the detail !! which on occasion is just daw dropping ! The extra features are, as usual from disney plentafull, very well thought out and give you plenty of things to watch and play with. You must buy this film, not doing so is doing yourself, your hi-def telly and your bluray player an injustice ! This is what HD was made for ! What I watched it on. Love this film

Bought it as a test for my new blu ray player and it is certainly a reference quality disc! Felt slightly guilty as an adult watching what appears to be a children's animation film but does actually have some more subtle humour for adults too. Amusing with excellent and true to life animation but does seems to lack the sparkle of some of the earlier Pixar animation productions. Think you'd only watch it once for content but maybe more for its blu ray quality.

Best children's film ever? Bit over the top, but it's a contender. Bought this to show in France when my son and family had been to Eurodisney and the children had enjoyed their first sighting of Paris. My son lived in Paris some years ago and was impressed at how the film "caught" the city. I can only agree. Great story, lots of adult entertainment without resorting to smut. Kids from 2 to 11 loved it!

The film is fantastic. The quality of this blu-ray is stunning. The audio has an optional PCM 5.1 track for us Dolby Digital users. The picture is so detailed that you can actually count the hairs on the rats...even when they're moving and you pause it! Seeing is believing. Buy it and see for yourself - stunning! This is setting a very high standard for other releases quality-wise. TS

Disney seem to have forgotten its primary audience is children with this one. Nice film, but my kids got bored and did other things. Good concept but bad script. It just doesnt engage kids.

Bought this on DVD some time ago,it's brilliant and even better on Bluray! The quality is of a high standard as you would expect. I won't repeat what has already been said by other reviewers but I will say that the story is very unique and I urge you to give it a go :)

Très belle histoire et film d’animation très vif.

I'm unable to play the movie since this Blu-ray was not meant for North America use (region 1). I'm unaware of the number of Blu-ray players that are able to play discs from other regions, but since this item is been sold in Amazon Canada it should be a region 1 Blu-ray. So if you don't have a multi-region Blu-ray player, don't buy this item.

The Dvd would not work on my multi-region player. The seller wants me to ship it back on my own dollar-from Canada to UK. That would be more than just buying it again. Disappointed.

Unless you're able to change the country of origin on your blu-ray player, you're out of luck. Will not play in Canada! Why this is allowed to be sold in Canada is beyond me!
