ZERO JAPAN Ceramic Coffee Dripper for #2 or #4 paper filter - Drip Cone Brewer - Tomato

Using for about 2 years now, absolutely love it. It rinses easily and goes into dishwasher whenever there's rack space. I love the simplicity of dripper+filter+mug coffee maker. The color choices are nice, especially the antique green and the coffee brown (ahhh, 70s). This was my first coffee dripper and I came back to buy a second backup one, in case the first one ever breaks. Some people have mentioned they're too fragile. I'm very careful with mine, but did knock the upper rim against a mug one time in the dishwasher. No damage. I don't place this casually in sink or anywhere it might be damaged. Some people mentioned they're not sized good to fit standard cups. For some cups, you might not be able to center the dripper on top as desired. You may have to scoot the dripper over to the side of the cup instead, which can make things more wobbly if you're not careful. I do wish they'd change the base for more flexibility, but it's workable. Due to the cup size matter and fragility others mentioned, I don't prep this coffee dripper above my cup. Here's what I do instead... 1 - Start the water boiling. 2 - Lay out a folded papertowel on the counter. 3 - Place dripper onto folded papertowel on the counter. 4 - Add paper filter while dripper still on papertowel on counter. 5 - Rinse filter in dripper at sink, return it to papertowel on counter. 6 - Add coffee grinds, shake it gently to level. Dripper still on papertowel. 7 - Wait for boil. 8 - When water's ready, place kettle next to cup, so everything's right there available. 9 - Place the dripper onto the cup and stabilize it. Don't leave unattended once on cup. 10 - Start the pour. 11 - When finished, place the dripper back onto folder papertowel to catch drips. Essentially, avoid prepping or leaving the dripper unattended while it's on top of the cup. If you do that, the most risk will be washing, if you bang it against the sink faucet or other dishes.

Nice and solid, you could bust someone in the head with it. It's heavy ceramic, extremely easy to clean (no moving parts or crevices). No planned obsolescence here. You can pass this down to your kids.

Great pour-over rig. I have a v60 also, and have spent countless hours trying to get a great cup from the v60. Don’t think I ever found great from my v60 but I’ve made plenty of bad cups with it (my fault, not the v60’s). But my point is that it’s a lot harder to make a bad cup from the bee house. It consistently makes good coffee, without having to learn the secret handshake. The only problem I have is that I’ve broken 2 of them (again my fault. They aren’t fragile, but can’t withstand a 4ft drop onto a tile floor). Also the bee house uses filters that you can find anywhere, which is a big plus compared to ordering fancy/expensive filters for other brewers.

I upgraded from a plastic cone because I became concerned about what chemicals might get added to my coffee every morning from pouring hot water over plastic. This cone makes a great cup of pour over coffee, smooth and rich (I use about 2 coffee scoops per mug, three for the tall travel mug) and I can drink it without concern for chemicals. It's also a little faster than the plastic one. I love the windows that show you how full the mug is - that's a great idea and I don't know why all cones don't have them! My only problem here is that the base isn't very versatile with fitting different mug sizes. It's too small for my wide Ikea coffee mugs, which are almost 4" wide. I can sort of get it to fit, but of the two times trying with those mugs, the second time it fell, sending coffee grinds onto the counter and my sleeve. It's too wide for my 2.5" travel mug (Contigo) because the inner ring of the base is the same size as the rim of the mug. I make it work by perching it on top, but it could easily fall off if I'm not careful. I'm definitely not going back to a plastic cone, but at least that was versatile enough to work on all mugs. I should have measured my mugs before buying this. With so much variation in mug design/mug size though, I consider it a design flaw that it isn't more versatile. If it fit my mugs I'd be giving it 5 stars because it's a great cup of coffee and I love the windows.

I give this 5 stars because as cofge drippers go it is probably one of the best. That said, I have decided I prefer a cheap coffee maker such as a Mr. Coffee. If you know you love coffee drippers and want a coffee dripper then this one is nice because: It is ceramic It will hold enough coffee to make 4 cups It is pretty and comes in lots of colors It takes filters that are easy to buy in the average grocery store. The coffee filters pretty slowly so you can pour more water in at once. Coffee houses often use them and they should know a good one. As with other drippers, the thing is very small compared to a coffee maker and can sit in a drawer or cupboard when not in use. As with other drippers, there are no tubes or parts to collect molds, germs, or other junk you don't want in your coffee. But you might not like a coffee dripper because: When you wake up and haven't had your coffee it is a lot easier to just push the on switch and in a few minutes have a whole pot of coffee. If you need more than 4 cups you will need more than 1 paper filter. My Mr. Coffee makes 12 cups with only one filter....or even a reusable filter, which is what we usually use. The coffee gets cold fast without a warming plate. There is a technique to making coffee with a dripper and after about a week I haven't really mastered it yet. I like it...but I like the ease of coffee at the touch of a button a bit more.

I ORDERED THIS SO THAT I WOULD HAVE 2 FOR WHEN GUESTS COME AND WE DONT WANT TO WAIT FOR THE FIRST PERSON TO FINISH MAKING THEIR COFFEE. JUST A WARNING- I ACCIDENTALLY KNOCKED MINE OFF OF THE KITCHEN COUNTER AND IT BROKE IN HALF. THIS WAS MY OWN CLUMSINESS, AND IN NO WAY THE FAULT OF THE PRODUCT. IT IS IN FACT A TESTAMENT OF THE QUALITY. A CHEAPER MADE PRODUCT WOULD HAVE SPLINTERED INTO MORE PIECES. ALSO THE PRODUCT FIT PERFECTLY OVER MY 20 OZ YETI MUG AND WATER FLOW WAS GREAT AS WELL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. (JUST AVOID BEING CLUMSY)

I use this ceramic item almost everyday. Per the other reviews, the liquids do go down too quickly with the two holes. But you can just cut a snippet of a chopstick and plug one hole. Try to look for a similar item and they are similar or worse for those hole issues. But this one has a good quality to it. Then the pouring process yields better results. I love the color red and the convenience of just using this item. It's quicker to use and clean up more so than a machine. It saves space as well due to this same reasoning. I am overall satisfed with this product.

Pro: It's beautiful (antique green), made really well with great finish and makes really great coffee (better taste compared to Melitta even with the same filter papers for some reason) Cons: It's a lot smaller to be advertised as Large. Pretty close to the size of my plastic Melitta with #2 filter. But the deal breaker for me is that the base was too narrow and wouldn't fit some of regular mugs (tipping hazard), so you're pretty limited to certain mugs. If you can get past those issues, get it! It's a quality product. But I didn't feel safe using it on top of few of my mugs due to all the cons mentioned above, enough for me to return mine.

I bought this coffee dripper as a gift. I love the elegant design of the handle and the open area on the part that sits on top of the mug so you can see the level of the coffee in the mug. I like the deep green colour and the very fine finish of the dripper a lot. It was a big surprise to me that they had it delivered right on Valentine's Day. Thank you for such a good service.

Beautifully made coffee dripper although the oval shaped base is not very stable on most cups. I think a round base would be better proportioned and provide more support for the larger cone shaped top.

I expected it to be larger than the normal ceramic dripprs that are advertised as it was described as a two cup If it had been the size of my old two cup plastic dripper I would be happy with itt and would not think it overpriced
