Japan: The Cookbook

Delighted with this book, so many inspiring recipes

I'm getting into my asian cooking. I like that this book uses so much for traditional ingredients, it doesn't hold your hand, but when it uses japanese words, you can find what they are in the dictionary at the back. Some of the recipe categories involve some level of repetition between dishes, but then how many European dishes involve starting with browning onions in a frying pan. My only issue is sourcing some of the ingredients in the UK. The style of writing is simple to follow & I really like the bamboo hardback finish. On the whole I greatly recommend this book.

Great book, clearly explained,with helpful hints and Beautiful photographs! The only down side, some of the ingredients can be hard, if not impossible to find!

This is a high-quality and aesthetically pleasing book. However, I wish every recipe included a photo; it would make it much easier to choose what to cook and to better understand the final result.

Great cookbook very authentic

This is a serious cookbook for serious cooks. If you are looking for glossy pictures and not willing to put in the effort to either source ingredients or substitute ingredients then perhaps this isn’t the book for you but for the serious cook it’s a treasure.

Solid recipes, great insights into the food culture and very informative. Highly recommend

It will take a long time to try all of the recipes, but they are promising.

The first recipe I tried was excellent and I don't think it was an coincide. Although I have dozen or so Japanese cookbooks I bought this because I already have several 'The Cookbooks'. Japanese recipe names would have been nice in 'romaji' as well, for us who cannot read all the kanjis.
