Inexpensive blade, quality carbon steel, can be made sharp. Stylish. Comfortable.
If you collect knives, you probably know what to expect from a forged blade at this price. It's high carbon steel. It arrives wrapped in plastic covered in sticky grease, needed to prevent rust. Mine still had a bit of rust on the edge. This cannot be helped with a material of this type. Upon arrival, one pass has shaped the edge over a grinding wheel set to about 25 degrees. You could open a box with it, but you would use it as a saw. When delivered, the edge is very primitive. But it's carbon steel, and it's not too much work to profile the blade, and give it a wicked edge. The steel is soft, which means it is less likely to chip. The steel is soft, which means it will go dull, but it will take a refined edge with a few licks on the stone. I'll also note that the knife is all carbon black and is covered in carbon scale when it arrives. Putting the blade to a stone will reveal some texture to the steel. I think it looks good after sharpening. The leather sheath grips the blade nicely, and the blade doesn't accidentally slip out. The sheath is nicely embossed and has double stitching with nylon thread. It will last longer than you or me, if it is kept dry and oiled once every ten years. The sheath has a long nylon lanyard. I don't need the lanyard, but there it is. I won't be wearing this as a necklace. This is an inexpensive knife, made for folks who know how to sharpen a blade. It is not a precious item, but it can be put to work. It is comfortable in my hand. It fits well in my pocket. If you want a display piece, look elsewhere. This is not that. This will look great in my sporran and compliment my kilt at the highland games. It will serve equally well in the coin pocket of my jeans when I need to open a box from Amazon. I'm giving this item five stars because it is what it is and it fully meets all requirements for a forged, high carbon steel knife with a bit of style at this price. If you are looking for a display knife, or something ready for whittling out of the box, you will likely give this two stars. I hope this review helps you!

It will make a good patch knife
The product looks old and rustic and has a handmade look to it though some reviews claim it is not. It is acid etched and not Damascus steel. Mine came with a very sharp edge and will function as a patch knife for my flintlock. For 11 bucks, I can't complain. It looks rustic and will add a nice detail to my reenacting garb.

Okay
It’s okay, more of a novelty than a real blade. I bought it as a gift for a friend that’s really into pretending he’s a Viking. I don’t understand it either. But it seems to make him happy. Anyway, he liked it.

Perfect Knife to Complete my Pipe Roll
This knife was exactly what I needed for a church warden pipe roll I made. The simple yet visually appealing style was perfect for the theme of a "Middle Earth" pipe roll. It came with a nice, heavy-duty scabbard. The knife was quite dull when I received it, but a fine cut precision file and ceramic rod fixed it right up. I am quite happy with the primitive style and finish. It worked out well.

Not sharp, poor blade quality.
This is a very dull knife.it doesn't appear sturdy. I'm almost afraid to sharpen it as the metal may break. Cute idea. Looks nice, just can't really use as a knife.

Very dull
Very dull had to do a lot of file work to get the knife to cut
