Such a leap forward
The Range 2 embodies a monumental advancement in its field, setting a new standard for performance, ease of use, and value. This device not only offers remarkable precision over greater distances, making it ideal for scanning larger objects, but it also excels in capturing intricate details with seamless panning around subjects. Coupled with user-friendly software, it simplifies the creation of 3D models to such an extent that even a child can master it with ease—my 8-year-old son is a testament to its accessibility and ease of use. What sets the Range 2 apart isn't just its enhanced scanning capabilities; its wireless connectivity directly to your computer introduces a level of freedom and flexibility unheard of in previous models. This feature eliminates the need for cumbersome cables or the necessity to tether to a mobile device, though the option remains viable for remote operations. This leap in technology is so profound that it blurs the line between consumer and commercial-grade equipment, offering professional quality in a consumer-friendly package. The craftsmanship of the Range 2 speaks volumes about its quality. Constructed from durable, high-grade materials, it exudes a premium feel further accentuated by thoughtful inclusions such as a versatile tripod/handle, a convenient phone holder, and a power bank handle. These accessories enhance the overall user experience, making it a comprehensive solution for 3D scanning needs. While it's conceivable that such high-quality scanning capabilities might become more commonplace in the future, perhaps even integrated into smartphones, the Range 2 currently stands in a league of its own. The level of quality and performance it delivers is unparalleled, making it an unmatched option in the market. It's not just an investment in cutting-edge technology; it's an investment in unparalleled quality and efficiency in 3D scanning. The Range 2 is unequivocally worth its price, promising to elevate the standard of 3D prints for professionals and hobbyists alike.

Advanced 3d scanner
This is my first experience of using a 3d scanner and I was pleasantly surprised by its ease of use. I'd put off trying it as technology can sometimes be rather daunting but this was straightforward and well explained. What impressed me initially was the freedom gained from using this model. The wireless capabilities allow you to roam without being connected through cabling to the pc, which has always being restrictive with previous models my partner uses. The level of detail is beyond the current model he uses, this is especially noted at a further range with larger subjects. You still can't get away from the need to use it against a relatively plain background, but this is something experienced users will be aware of. This model has the feel of a professional bit of kit that has been made accessible to the public. The flexibility it offers , wireless or cabled, handheld or tripod, small subject or large - it is a far updated version of any scanner previously used. It is evidence of how quick technology is growing and how it can advance the world of software engineering. I will update the review if I experience any issues which would reflect on the current 5 star review given, but all I can say at the moment is that it is an exceptional piece of kit which does what it's meant to do effectively and efficiently.

The arrival of affordable consumer oriented and priced 3D scanners like the Revopoint RANGE 2 3D Scanner, driven in no small part by the rise of 3D printing, has helped me realize a long held ambition, to make 3D scans of art works and architectural details with the hope that the scans might be used to output actual objects for future projects. The technology is really impressive. In the past this type of capability was very expensive and found only in industry and cinema special effects houses. That put it out of reach for most average users. You have to give Revopoint credit for creating a range of affordable 3D capture devices and software that interface with either a computer or smart phone. Setup was straight forward. Install RevoScan software, on your PC, Android or iOS device, decide whether to use a cable or WiFi to link the scanner and the software, and scan. Of course, it's more complicated than that once you get to the actual scanning part. The biggest issue, other than perfecting your stability and technique for hand holding the scanner for capture, or using a turntable for small objects, is finding a place to do the scan where the object to be scanned has no other objects near it, or in the near background. That can sometimes be difficult to arrange if you don't have an empty room space or if the object is installed in an environment you can't control. There are a number of issues of course with perspective and capturing tops and bottoms of things. One other issue, covered by Revopoint in a helpful video, is that featureless objects like spheres, boxes, balls, etc and objects with shiny or reflective surfaces can confuse the scanner and software and have to be ornamented with target stickers to give the scanner dimensional points to create a usable grid and mesh out of. The software can output both STL, PLY, & OBJ files. You should have a good grip on your final output needs before picking which one to use. The scanner has a max distance to object of about fifty-one inches. I am blown away and impressed by this tool being available for under $800.00. I am making progress on my early days scanning of test objects. Now I have to work on the real world 3D object creation from capture file technology part of the process. But very impressed with the Revopoint RANGE 2 3D Scanner.
