Great learning kit for all ages
I am a full grown adult in online college now to become a physics teacher, and I love this kit! Because I am in online college, I don't have many opportunities to do hands on experiments, but this does the trick and it is fun! I plan to use this to demonstrate concepts of static electricity, electrolysis, electromagnetic induction, electroplating, and magnetic polarity in my future high school classroom. The book that came with it is simple and easy to follow, but be warry that some of the lessons within it are much too advanced for little ones, but they can learn it as they get older! I definitely had fun playing and learning with this kit.

Fascinating
The experiments look interesting. My grandsons are 11 and very bright but it appears there will be a lot of adult guidance required. I would worry that the kit is too advanced for an 8 year old. It does help that the boxes of small parts are color coded to match the page in the instruction booklet they correspond to.
