Excellent Star Wars miniature game!
This older version of Star Wars Legion is among my top table top miniature-based games of all time. This system is super fun to play not only for the wonderful miniatures with nostalgic table presence, but also for the relatively straightforward rules allowing for relatively speedy game turns. Building your army with cards and miniatures is a fun choice space, Simpler than Warhammer games, yet enough crunch to pull even seasoned war-gamers in. Itโs infinitely replayable with perhaps just a few extra minis or vehicles just to add variety, if you want to buy them. It comes with a lot of minis from both the Empire and Rebellion in this box so you donโt have to buy anything more if you donโt want to in order to have a great time. Youโll need to explore the right kind of glues for the miniatures as they arenโt the same kind of plastic as Warhammer minis. I use a flexible super glue (not the brittle kind) which seems to do ok. Photos include other models and terrain we have added to the game not included in the base set.

This is another hit for the amazing Fantasy Flight games team
Incredible value. This is another hit for the amazing Fantasy Flight games team. The miniatures are highly detailed and a joy to paint up. The rule set is their best yet and really gives you a gradual introduction into the complexity of miniature gaming. Just the core set is enough to have a small-scale experience. I would have dinged it a star for not including more dice, but for the price, you are already getting a lot and most other company's miniatures 2 player sets (looking at you 40k) have the same number of minis for twice the price. Component Quality: The plastic used for the minis to my mind is better than the brittle plastic for 40k or other table top miniature games. The minis are easy to put together and most are only 2-3 pieces that easily fit in together. Unlike other games, you won't have to hold the glue together after you glue them. The tokens and range measuring tools are typical high quality stuff from Fantasy Flight. The tokens are on heavy cardboard and easy to punch out. The rulers have great little details that make them look like Star Wars ship/droid components. Gameplay: I will need to update this later, but from my first impressions, there is a good amount of depth and decisions in every battle. I love that each scenario offers different conditions and the command cards really mix up the activations between players (many other games are "I go, you go" with a die roll for priority, but Legion gives you options to trade off priority for more activations and adds more strategic depth). I was amazed at how easy the game is to pick up just from the learn to play rules. And everything you need to know about a unit is on the card that comes with it. You will rarely find yourself hunting through the rule book to figure out how to activate your unit. Summary: This game is definitely more on the hobby side for miniature games (eg you will need to build and paint your minis), but it is manageably so. There are plenty of great painting tutorials out there and with painting shades/oils, it has never been easier to get into miniature painting. Star Wars Legion is a solid entry to the miniature war game front, and I can easily see it overtaking other major games due to the ease of entry and lower price point. I expect there will be a strong tournament and casual scene for this game. This core box is the perfect starting point and offers a lot of fun with just its components.

A must-have for Star Wars fans and strategy gamers
As a lifelong Star Wars fan and miniature painter, I consider Imperial Assault and its expansions. The base game is a masterpieceโdeep in strategy, rich in narrative, and visually stunning with its high-quality miniatures. Iโve built most of my collection through the Fantasy Flight Game Center here in Minnesota, which is a fantastic place to play, paint, and connect with other gamers. Their support for the Star Wars universe and the tabletop community is second to none. If youโre into tactical combat, immersive campaigns, or simply love Star Wars, this game will blow you away. Itโs not just a gameโitโs a full experience.

Vader
I bought 2 of these, for my son and myself to paint. They were easy to assemble, well detailed but without being overwhelming and fun to paint. I will say that the stance of this model is a little weird. I prefer the one in the base starter set but the model is still awesome and the impression of movement is pretty great.

Great Game, Questionable Gouging
I like painting minis, tabletop wargames, and Star Wars - thus, Star Wars Legion immediately caught my attention and I ordered this core set almost as soon as I had heard about it. I only recently started getting into various Fantasy Flight Games products and I enjoy their nice balance of depth and simplicity. Legion, as a game, is on par with this as itโs easy to get into and grasp the mechanics of quickly so youโre spending less time reading rules and scouring forums for answers and more time actually playing the game. The miniatures themselves are surprisingly well made and detailed and fun to paint up. The core box itself is also a great deal as the value of the included minis (if you were to buy the individual boxes) would cost you between $100 - $150. Plus it comes with two (Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader) that are entirely exclusive to this set. HOWEVER, there are two issues with this box and theyโre both aimed at FFG getting more money out of you. First off, youโll quickly discover that to easily play a full game youโll need to purchase the additional dice set. While the box comes with the appropriate white, red, and black dice you need it doesnโt come with enough of them. This will leave you playing in a manner where youโll have to re-roll already rolled dice for attacks and defends and having to make a mental note of whatโs already been rolled. Itโs not a game breaker but itโs, quite simply, annoying and clearly a tactic by FFG to gouge you - forcing you to spend more money on more dice. Secondly, the units in this box do not come with ALL of their upgrades or associated cards. To get those, youโll need to buy the separate boxes. Another blatant move to get more money out of you. These two moves really make it feel like youโre not getting the FULL experience and FFG is just unapologetically trying to squeeze you for more money - questionable practice to say the least.

The box of minis any mandalorian fan will want
This box is a kitbasher's dream. First off, everything is exceedingly crisp in it's details. Arms, heads, etc are easy enough to position in alternate poses, swapping from model to model. I'm tempted to buy another box to build alternate configurations, and then buy 3 more boxes to have for bits. Unlike earlier legion releases which were a softer plastic, these are the new harder plastic sprues. Make sure you have some flush clippers and some files for sprue nubs. Standard stuff for mini building but worth noting. Also, unlike the older soft plastic, this new stuff can be glued together with plastic cement. Highly preferable to superglue, Tamiya (orange cap) recommended for joins, green cap works great for removing fine mold line. The flight stands for the units in mid air are fantastic. Everything from the ball and socket join to the stylized swoop curve. Only downside is these bits do not work with plastic cement, so don't ditch your superglue. Assembly is easy thanks to their instructions, and as usual, legion minis are a joy to paint thanks to their detailed nature. Don't be the person who buys this and gives it 1 star for being unpainted. If these things were assembled and painted to box art quality they'd be 12x as expensive.

This Captain Rex is quality.
My first ever miniature. Painted while I was recovering from surgery. Model is greater, barely had to clean him up. I should've used better paints, but used what I had on hand. Turned out great, painted both helmets. Not difficult at all to assemble. Came with cards and tokens for the game, as he is an expansion, but I have no use for them. He's made of plastic, so durability is no problem. Don't know if he is worth the money for someone who wants to put him on a shelf, he is about 2 inches tall.

Really cool
The Wookiee warriors are an awesome special forces for the rebel faction. There great overcing difficult terrain and close quarters combat. They are also easy to assemble. Only thing with painting them I found was decorating their armour. 100% would recommend especially if you play the rebels faction.
