Needs foil tape to seal the seams
The insulation expands when unwound, there are a couple high spots with extra fiberglass, but it can be trimmed off. The instructions said to overlap by .5 inch, which is not correct, when using the wraparound method with this thickness. It must be a butt joint. If I were to overlap it, the only way is to compress it, which is unacceptable, as insulation needs to be uncompressed to be effective. If you must, you can use foil tape to seal the seams. The 25 ft roll, when using the wraparound method, will yield 10 ft. You will get a bit longer in a straight run if you sandwich the pipe between two cut pieces. I had to cut it into 4 sections, there were 2 straight runs, with the water meter in between thatโs in an elliptical loop. The length I needed was about 13 ft, got 10 out of it. It reached from the floor to ceiling, which is about 7 ft, with the rest used in the water meterโs loop. The rest of the 3 ft into the warmer portion of my basement was between joists that already have insulation installed, I tugged the exposed pipe into the pre-existing insulation. For me it worked out. If you have more than 10 feet, get 2 rolls. Itโs an economical way to insulate the pipe, the other method is to use rubber insulation, donโt use foam insulation with heat tape, it might melt the foam. I checked the big box store, and it was priced almost 2x. The insulations trap and spread the heat evenly, it saves more electricity, as the heating cable would shut off at a preset higher temperature. The insulation will aid in reaching that temperature faster. You must seal the butt joints with foil tape, to create an airtight seal. This prevents condensation and wet insulation, which leads to lower R-value and corrosion. It would have been a five star product if it had the correct installation instruction and foil tape for the joints or built-in butt strips.

Everyone said to get it
Iโm just going to assume this is good because I bought it for a project and never ended up needing it but I know that a lot of people told me to get it so Iโm going to assume that itโs a great product. I do know itโs very cheap. I never even opened it so itโs just sitting here. Maybe I will need it next winter.

Pipe insulating wrap
With crazy cold weather here in Florida, I covered my pump and wrapped exposed pipes with insulation wrap, easy to install & eliminates worry about pipes freezing.

Not bad but foil separates easily
Not a bad roll for the money, but the foil part tends to separate from the insulation quite easily. I used this to wrap some pipes in Florida during our first hard freeze in decades. It worked well for that temporary purpose.

Value and great pipe coverage
Makes a great pipe wrap and relatively easy to use. Only downside is size is it unwraps when installing which makes somewhat inconvenient
