This cable tester works great. I like the simplistic design and solid construction. I like that it's built by a trusted brand in the live sound industry.

This really is worth it's price. I build and repair my own cables. Testing them is a priority. This tells me instantly if they work or not. 100% Accurate!

This tester really speeds up diagnosing bad audio cables. No more messing with a multimeter checking continuity. The only complaint I have is the green LED lights are very bright.

Easy to use.. but very bright lights! A useful tool to diagnose problems. I especially like the probes.

This product was essential for testing plugs and jacks. Surprisingly the number of bad musical jacks whether for amps, instruments, or microphones is no longer an issue with this tester. The price is competitive and worth every penny. Great job, thank you.

This is a great and portable wire tester for anyone into AV! Also, the company has quite a righteous sense of humor right! While this item is made with tuff metals and well constructed and it does test cables I was hoping for something else, which I don’t even know exists? I was hoping to use this cable tester to see if my speaker wire run had any damage to it or bad connections within the 7.2.4 network. Unfortunately, to test that using this meter you have to have the beginning and end of the speaker wire terminals. It sure would be nice to know if my speaker wire runs were damaged or not and if so which ones as my AVR output transistors just blew up🙂

I first saw this tester in a college studio I used to work at and I knew I wanted one of these for myself as soon as I could get one. As someone who works with a lot of home studio gear often and needs to occasionally diagnose problems, this tester has saved me a tremendous amount of time troubleshooting. Instead of testing cables with a multimeter like I used to, I can just plug the cables into this tester and quickly find where the problem is. The tester is also very sturdy, so if you need to take this with you somewhere you can be assured it will stand up to whatever conditions it is thrown into and not be worried about damaging it. The LED switches are bright and easy to see, and the selector switch also conveniently lets you test the continuity of individual pins to precisely diagnose any problems any kind of audio or video cable that you will typically find in a studio/home studio environment. This is a very worthwhile investment for those that regularly work with audio and video cables. Highly recommend, would buy a million times over!!

Solidly built and logically laid out, the Mackie Cable Tester gives you an easy way to test a wide variety of cable types (RCA, 1/4 and 1/8-inch TS/TSR, XLR, Speakon, MIDI/Din), and solve mysteries when you're not exactly sure what kind of cable you have (stereo vs. mono, for example) or suspect a faulty plug. Pop each end of your cable into one of the two identical side connections, then use the dial and the lights to cycle through the pins of the cable you've plugged into the two sides to see what you've got. The banana-plug/probe continuity tester is also a nice addition. More detailed instructions for the unit would be helpful, but it's a great tool for anyone who's frequently hooking up different audio components in the non-Bluetooth parts of the world.
