By one-upping the 1989 best-of Best of Rockers 'n' Ballads, Scorpions' 20th Century Masters makes the claim of being the hair metal band's definitive single-disc best-of. It does so by adding "Send Me an Angel" and "Wind of Change," the latter being one of Scorpions' largest and most well-known hits ever. Since these two songs were released after Best of Rockers 'n' Ballads, they don't appear on that best-of. Besides the inclusion of those two latter-day songs, not much else is different. All the big '80s metal anthems are still here: "Rock You Like a Hurricane," "Big City Nights," "No One Like You," "Still Loving You," and so on. Germany's The Scorpions are by far one of the best heavy metal bands of all time.This CD is well worth picking up,with hits like "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and "Winds Of Change" being classics of the genre and sure to induce some heavy duty head-banging.For a fan of metal,this is essential listening.Excellent vocals,awesome guitar solos and a dman tight rhythm section from this truly excellent band.Classic.

A good compilation if you are looking for only the hits
In 2001 Mercury Records presented this "The Best Of Scorpions" as a part of the greatest hits series "20th Century Masters: The Millenium Collection". This compilation attempted to compile by the first time all the greatest hits of the german band in a single-disc. In fact, Mercury got it. Even the compilation sold well. But 12 tracks are very few and a lot of great songs were omitted. Only from the track 5 (the big "Still Loving You") the songs are ordered chronologically. And the last band's album recorded for the label ("Face The Heat") isn't represented here. Usually the tracks are well selected. The booklet is fair. It includes some photos of the band (in colour) and acceptable liner-notes. There is no much information about their discography here. Only the chart positions of the songs. The quality sound is exactly the same of "Deadly Sting: The Mercury Years (1997)". It isn't remastered. In brief, a good compilation if you are looking for only the hits and don't want to spend much money.

Un recopilatorio esencial para fans del rock europe
Me gustan Scorpions desde siempre, y este CD es en mi opinión, un recopilatorio esencial para cualquier aficionado al rock clásico. Encontramos algunos de los temas más representativos del grupo y funciona muy bien como resumen de su trayectoria. La verdad es que echo en falta alguna canción concreta, como “Is There Anybody There?” o “No Pain No Gain”, pero eso ya es una opinión personal y dependerá de los gustos de cada uno. Aun así, la selección incluida es muy sólida y mantiene un equilibrio muy agradable de principio a fin. Es un disco que se disfruta en el coche o en casa, ideal para escuchar con calma, relajarse y recordar viejos tiempos. La calidad de sonido es buena y cumple perfectamente como CD físico para tener siempre a mano. Además, para todos los que disfrutamos coleccionando y recopilando música, me parece uno de esos discos casi obligatorios dentro del rock europeo de todos los tiempos.
