So cool!
I got this as a gift for my husband. It’s incredibly easy to convert and upload videos, the video quality is great. Sound is meh, but it’s the tiniest speaker ever. I put a couple seasons of my husband favorite tv show on it so he could have it on his desk at work. He loves it! All his co-workers want one too!

This thing is so cool and such a joy
Around the late 90’s or early 00’s my friend’s mom had a small battery powered TV that we brought with us on a road trip. It barely worked and the battery didn’t last long BUT I just thought it was so cool. This memory prompted me to look up small televisions on Amazon to see how much technology has advanced since that long ago road trip. That’s when the MiniTV popped up! After a bit of research I ordered one and I could not be happier. It just oozes the sort of comfy, warm, and nostalgic vibe that I love. Like grandma’s old TV that she still uses. Except this thing is packed with awesome features. The dials work on the tv and the little remote is fully functional. The picture is clear and crisp with good sound output considering the size. It comes pre-loaded with some stuff on it (my favorite is tue Gumby channel or the fireplace channel) but with a usb-c port on the back you can connect it to your Windows or Mac and use their app to upload your own videos on the TV. You can also stream some services like Netflix to the tv screen when the cable is still connected to your computer. I really enjoy showing it off to people when they come over, everyone is always really impressed when I show them how functional it actually is. Also, it has a pretty good battery-life. Obviously this isn’t something most people are going to want to use as their primary tv or streaming device to watch all the time. This is sort of a niche thing that is meant to be a cool thing to show off to people or to have in the background when you’re just chilling. I personally like falling asleep with it playing on my nightstand or streaming a favorite movie or show while I’m relaxing or doing something in my room. If this is the kind of cool little thing you like to collect or have around your house then I can’t recommend it enough. It’s very well made and clearly created with care and quality- not churned out by the thousands in some far-away factory. For around $50 this is an awesome product and more than worth the price for the quality and the enjoyment it has given me.

A gorgeous miniaturized TV
I recently purchased the TinyTV 2 as a gift and decided to add a personal touch by doing some paintwork and loading a few videos. This customization enhanced the already charming, miniature design of the TinyTV 2, which cleverly mimics the style of old-fashioned TV boxes in a functional, scaled-down version. While it's not a traditional TV since it plays preloaded videos, the capability to watch videos with sound on such a tiny device is quite remarkable. The video and color display quality of the TinyTV 2 is notably impressive. Even with a small internal speaker, the sound output is decent and sufficiently clear for its compact size. When it comes to pricing, the TinyTV 2 leans towards the higher side, particularly if you consider the cost of individual components like the screen and the RP2040 microcontroller. But what you're paying for is not just the parts but the entire design and experience of a miniaturized TV. Tinycircuits has developed an app for video conversion that performs admirably. It handled all the video formats I tried and offered enough options for final tweaks. However, there are some limitations. The app is available only for Windows and Mac, which posed a slight inconvenience for me as a Linux user. Although it runs acceptably via Wine, a dedicated Linux version or at least a command-line interface tool would be a significant improvement. The app appears to be a front for FFmpeg, yet this is only briefly mentioned in the forums. Clearer documentation or guidance from Tinycircuits on using FFmpeg directly for video conversion would be beneficial. For enthusiasts of miniaturized gadgets, the TinyTV 2 is undoubtedly a delightful discovery. Originally bought as a gift, its charm and functionality have left me seriously considering getting one for personal use.

Fun novelty
As others have noted, TinyTV 2 is a cute, functional "TV". No, it doesn't pick up aerial channels but plays stored video loaded via a USB-C connection. "Channels" are the different video files. Very simple to use. The free app which converts your video to the proper formatting is straightforward and does not require installation. Just run it. The small remote works very well. Just remember that it's IR, so you must be pointed at the front of the screen. The TV knobs work as expected. My knock is really on me. I was caught assuming it had the same feature set as the original TinyTV which had a TV mode (videos play constantly on each "channel", looping when finished) and a Video Player mode allowing videos to be played from the beginning. This version only has the TV mode. Regarding the volume, a quiet area is required but it is easily heard in such an environment. Small size does have limitations. Perhaps Bluetooth could be added?

All the stars
So, my son said that he wanted this for his 9th birthday. Apparently, they're all into mini things because I had to buy a bunch of other tiny crap but the TV is actually cool. Yes, you have to read the instructions which I didn't do the first time and I just tried to put some videos on it and it didn't work but after I read the instructions everything was fine. I have several of our movies burned on to my computer so it was no problem getting them on to the little TV. I think I was able to get about seven movies total and overall the thing is cute and fun but again it's just a novelty. It's not something that he uses day to day it's just a fun little tchotchke for him but he loves it and that's all that matters.

It's a fun toy, conversation starter.
Bought this on a whim for my office. It's tiny! And a great conversation starter. You use their software to convert your video then upload to the Tiny TV using a USB cable. The converter software is easy to use. I converted MP4 videos to the Tiny TV format and uploaded it without any problems. Volume is low which is understandable. The rotating knobs on the front of the 'TV' actually work. One changes the 'channel' while the other one controls volume. The remote control is also tiny! It works just like a TV remote ... change channel, control volume, turn TV on/off. The only problem.... mine stopped working only after a week. I took it apart to see if I can repair it and discovered soldering point on the battery connector detached. I was able to repair it but shouldn't have to have gone to that point. The Tiny TV itself is works fine, screen is bright and viewable (assuming your eyes are still good... LOL) and battery seems to last long between charges. I let it run for about 40 minutes before I turned it off. Overall, it's a fun toy sitting at my desk next to the computer.

Could use better instructions
I got a few of these as white elephant gifts after seeing it on NYT's Wirecutter. I thought it was cute and nostalgic, so I got one for myself as well. There are practically no instructions on how to upload my own videos. The tv comes with a few retro looking "programs" preloaded, but I really wanted to upload my own stuff, and there was no mention of how when I scanned the QR code. I went to the site where there is more information, but all it said was that if my computer didn't recognize the accessory, to use a different cable that's not just for charging. However, my computer did recognize the accessory, but then there's nothing else after. Also, I didn't think the remote worked, but the "instructions" address that. However the explanation is so vague and I'm still not sure how to make it active. It's very cute and fun little gift but beyond playing just the preloaded video (I like the yule log best), I can't figure out how to use it properly yet.

The Cutest Thing Ever
It just arrived and I only had moments to play with it. But the tv has working knobs which I used in order to change the channels and adjust the volume. There are some preloaded items already on the device and about 4-6 channels. They even added the channel number on the screen. I know it's silly but the idea of this tiny tv just tickles my fancy. The picture is perfect and clear. A magnifying glass is not necessary to view anything on the tv either. I didn't get a chance to try the remote but I can only assume they work fine since the buttons on the remote are certainly bigger than the knobs actually on the tv. The knobs do not 'click' over by the way. For some of us old enough to have lived with an older tv the knobs usually made a noise when they were turned and you could feel the knob actually changing the channels. I'm sure it could be done but your talking about adding another feature on a device that your trying to keep small. Plus, anyone turning the channels by hand may not want the additional difficulty of changing the channel in that manner on a knob that is pretty small to begin with. The sound is also perfectly fine. I was afraid that it would sound would be more of an issue but I was willing to ignore it for the novelty of the idea. But the sound is fine. I wouldn't attempt to try to listen to it if you had a lot of background noise ongoing at the same time, then you might have an issue. As I was flipping the channels the only item I recognized was Gumby on one of the channels. I did not immediately recognize anything else. Also note that when the tv is turned on and off via the button on the top of the set that the video continues to play where you left off instead of starting from the beginning. I highly recommend this item. Even if the items that are preloaded are not to your taste you can download other items. I can only assume that they will automatically shrink to fit the screen. I haven't had the time to read the information that can with the set or check out their website. I just wish they had other options to chose from other than miniature gaming.

Mega cool !
