I got this set from a friend who had never painted in her life. She didn’t feel confident and gave the set to me. I have never used gouache, but loved the colors! I’m used to oils and watercolor so this was a bit of a switch, but when I’ll get used to very quickly, I really liked it. I feel it’s great quality. Several people ever remarked about the fact that it only came with three brushes. Most paint sets come with one brush! I really liked the brushes as well. Clean them very well because they don’t clean as easily as watercolor, but not difficult either. I did not know that gouach paints need to be sealed. So keep that in mind when purchasing. Get some wax or spray…. Just read about the different options. The 4 ounce jar of wax is about $12. Krylon clear spray is about $16 but will last a long time.

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT, yes it only comes with three brushes but the pigment is unmatched, I love how it dries not too fast and not too slow, and the opacity can be built up depending on water amount. It looks so vibrant like the studio ghibli scenes, and works great on thicker paper!!!!

I like those paints for the variety of colors there are, it's really nice in this way. The colors are also very pretty and there's a good variety of them. I am not sure about the quality of the paint itself as it's my first time trying gouache, but I like the fact that I can paint like with watercolors, and then add some thicker layers on top of them. My one gripe is with the box. It leaves the paints out without protection when you fully open them, so unfortunately you have to either let the paint dry out and re-wet them to make them work again, or try to have them closed all the time, which can be difficult. I tried it by keeping the film lids on mostly and re-taping them with masking tape, and recently by having had tiny lids 3D printed out from a design someone online made. The re-taping method didn't work perfectly well, some paints still dried despite me trying to make them not do that. Tiny lids work better but because the box is not made with them in mind, the paints now sit a bit awkwardly in there. It's better than letting them dry out but I would really like if HIMI improved the box and the paints by making the box bigger slightly and giving us actual lids for the paints instead of the little film.

Fabulous!!!!!!! When I try to post it asks if this “toy” is appropriate for children 1-11. I don’t understand why this question was asked, as this is not a toy! I’m an adult and use these paints in my business. I’ve never been asked that question in a review before.

I enjoy using HIMI gouache. This was my third purchase of the box sets. Opening the individual cups is a pain but worth the effort. It works well on almost any type of paper that isn't too thin. I purchased the HIMI spray which works well to keep paints moist and mold free. Using a watercolor blending medium allows this gouache to blend nicely for skies and water. There are two negatives, the box of 48 doesn't close as tightly as the box of 36. The box of 48 has two snap closures while the 36 box has snap closures on all four sides. A large plastic ziplock bag solves that problem. The second problem is with the whites. They aren't as opaque as more expensive brands. The white cups can be filled with another brand. Over all, I'd recommend it. It's my go-to for painting.

So I wanted to try a new type of paint I am new to watercolor. This has been my must used set. I love the creamy texture how little you really need to get a full color. It is great money saver since you get so many colors. Super easy to use, great paint quality, the large size worked great for me.

Although this giant kit is definitely a bit pricier than the other smaller gouache kits that you can get. I definitely do like having the bigger one. As someone that has just started off with gosh it’s been an absolute breeze working with such a large pallet because i spend less time mixing colors. I’ve tried multiple styles now and have really never needed to ever mix my paints because there are over 112 colors. It is so easy to shade match from an irl picture. Love gouach.

Very smooth, from almost pasty opaque to transparent washes, and the colours are excellent.

These paint pots do not come sealed like others I have purchased. They are leaking all over, this was supposed to be a gift but I cannot gift it as it is super messy and spilling everywhere. I am very disappointed
