A very handy reference tome for anyone wanting to understand and attempt making clinker planked small boats. My interest is as a model boat builder, where I wanted to fully appreciate the method and order of construction in order to perform it at scale.

A good book on the subject. As Martin spent some years in Australia there are odd references that are pertinent for me, being an Australian reader.

Disappointing, lacks any real detail on clinker boatbuilding and is padded out by lots of history, tools, workshop requirements etc.

Very well illustrated. Writer is quite informative.

Great Pictures, beyond that: Useless! Not a book for someone interested in learning basic construction or for that matter, anything beyond.
