Bullet Puller

I have about 150 rounds of 6.5-06 ammo that had been reloaded with questionable powder amounts. I started looking for a method to remove the bullet and fix the issue. I saw this inertia device on sale for a very reasonable price. I thought that if it didn't work I could then spend a lot more on a collet style tool. Bottom line, this device worked like a charm. I did take one reviewer's advice and placed a thin layer of corrugated material, like a cereal box, on my concrete shop floor as a surface to hit. I started out kind of gingerly just to test the ruggedness of the tool but quickly determined that you must use very firm blows and keep the striking face as flat as possible. Most bullets came out after 8-12 blows. I had some (10-12) old military 30-06 brass from WWII. That stuff is tough, so I saved it till the last figuring I didn't want to destroy the tool too quickly. It took 20-30 blows for those cartridges. All done and the tool is fine no noticeable damage, save a little bit of wear marking on the striking face. I'm very happy with the results.

Works well and is very durable but I hope you can swing a hammer. So far I've broke down 12 30-06 rounds. Took a good bit longer than I expected and I split my 2x4 in half and continued with each piece. As I said it works but you better be able to swing a hammer.

I teach a reloading class, and part of that class is to demonstrate how to safely disassemble cartridges (the ones that might have been improperly assembled). So, this tool gets used a LOT. My previous one broke (Lexan plastic finally gave up from all the pounding), and I had used it so much that I wsn't going to try to ask the manufacturer to replace it. So, bought an exact replacement to what I previously had, and expect that this one will last for years and years and years, just like the previous one did. So, buy with confidence. A great price for a great tool. BTW, a couple of tips for using the tool: 1) Always use the correct size collet (they give you a whole set of different sizes when you buy the tool) for the cartridge you are going to disassemble. 2) The rounded part of the collet goes towards the plastic nut. If you install the collet backwards, you will rip the lip off the collet. Rounded part towards the plastic nut. 3) No need to over tighten the plastic nut. However, you don't want it loose either. Just snug is fine. 4) Do not whack this tool on any metal objects. I strongly suggest that you use this tool on the end of a piece of 2X4. If you hit it on metal, the plastic will shatter, and you could get injured. The end grain of a 2X4 properly absorbs the impact, allowing he tool to work properly. 5) Always wear safety glasses during the use of this and all tools. The tool may be replaceable, but your eyes are not.

It works as advertised. Great price. Get one in case you ever need it. Worth it the first time I used it.

Even with my heavy crimped 44 Magnum cartridges this puller works great. A good rap or two on a heavy piece of wooden 4 x 4 and the cartridge will come apart safely. Way better price than others. I am happy with this purchase
