Well worth the effort... AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE
Let me start off by saying that it has been a rollercoaster ride with this mattress. Okay, so why the 5 stars, you ask? Well, I will tell you why. When it arrived, everything was great. It was packaged well. Vacuumed sealed so tight I didn't think it would ever unroll right. I gave it the full 72 hours to inflate. That's when the problems occurred. At 75 hours, the mattress had barely inflated to 8 inches. For reference, I bought the 10-inch. And I know sometimes that the measurements can be a bit off, so I considered it my fault for being such a cheap arse and not forking out for the 12 or 14. My reasoning: I was gonna get a topper at some point and I don't want to be like Princess and tf-ng Pea in a room with a low ceiling. I waited another day. Measured again. No sign of movement. I tried to contact the seller and, well anyone who has tried doing anything on Amazon knows how wonderful that is. Instead of giving me the seller, it sent me ring around the rosy with processing a return. I cannot tell you how many times I made it clear that I did NOT want to send it back and I did NOT want a refund. I only wanted help in trying to resolve this issue myself. I felt it was something that could be fixed. If it came to it, then we could talk about credits or refunds. This went on for over an hour. I finally managed somehow to be taken to the manufacturer's website and, once again went through the drama of "No, I don't want to return it and I don't want a refund. I just want help." I finally reached a human being at some point. A person by the name of Maverick contacted me and suggested I set the mattress on the floor and roll around or walk on it a bit. Apparently, sometimes the memory foam doesn't want to decompress all the way. These actions tend to help. I wrote back to him every time there was movement. 9 inches. 9.5 inches. I was so excited the day after my roommate slept on it that it got all the way up to 10 inches inflated! I immediately fired off a note to Maverick to let him know and to thank him for the suggestions. He was patient and told me exactly what needed to be done and why. It never even occurred to me that sometimes memory foam just "be that way" and you have to sort of give it a boost. All that said, I've been sleeping on it now for about a month. It's probably the most firm memory foam I've ever owned, and I probably could have done well with one a bit squishier, but this is fine. I got exactly what I ordered. I'm not gonna complain about that. I don't see any evidence of fiberglass, as mentioned in another review. Of course, I don't ever intent to remove the protective cover and will instead have one on top of it at some point. It being several inches more shallow than other mattresses I've owned, let me just tell you know... it puts them to shame! My previous mattress, same brand, was a 12-inch and not nearly as firm. It had edge issues where you'd fall to the floor if you weren't careful. I don't see that being an issue with this one. It's fairly sturdy sitting on the edge and I imagine that if I had access to the corners they would be the same #sleighbed. And my previous mattress, you could feel the metal slats underneath every freaking time you turned. It was awful. I had to put sheets of plywood down to keep from being gored in the night. With this mattress though?? I don't feel a dang thing. Granted the slats on this bed are wooden and not metal, even when I pounce on the bed, I don't feel a thing - just snuggliness. I'm waiting for my bed to break if I do that again though - for reference, I'm about 345lbs. Do you have any idea what that does to a bed if you just pounce on it like a lion on the Serengeti? Apparently, nothing (knock on wood). The mattress absorbs the impact. I would be confident with dropping an egg from a skyscraper onto this mattress. That is how awesome it is. It didn't have any sort of weird odor when I removed it from its wrapping. The only thing that sort of made it difficult to get any help was that the date of manufacture was missing from the tag when I was trying to get assistance from the manufacturer. If anyone has to deal with that, just take a picture of the tag anyway to prove that it is blank. It'll help you out in the long run. If I'm ever in the market for a mattress again any time soon, I am definitely purchasing this one - as long as it's available. I can sleep at night. It doesn't aggravate my low back pain or even my hip pain. I'm actually grateful it isn't as squishy as I would like because then my problem would be never wanting to get out of bed. Heck, even with my weight (when lying down) I barely sink into the mattress. And at least now I can wake up in the morning and go about my day without feeling as though my body has been hit by a truck and all I want to do is stay in bed. Very happy with this purchase!

BUY this mattress if your hips hurt
UPDATE 16 Months: We still love our beds. We have two of them. Even as heavy people we don't have any spots that have weird sink holes. My back and body have never felt better thanks to these mattresses. I suggest these to all of my friends, family, and clients and everyone has been thankful for the recommendation. You are getting a great quality bed that is safe to sleep on for very little money. Sleep is super important at our house and I wish we would have gotten these earlier. We cosleep with our children and these mattresses are perfect for that. Our infant has slept in this bed since about 20 minutes after birth with no issues. Our daughter loves it and doesn't like going to sleep at grandmas anymore because her bed isn't comfortable enough. UPDATE 6 Months: I love this bed still. We have two. I can't imagine life without them. They are wonderful. I sleep so well and I am 42 weeks along and 120lbs overweight. They are both 12 inches now and don't have any weird spots where we lay. First review:This is only day two with the mattress. I will update later for a better review. I am pregnant and was in the worst pain. My back and hips hurt so bad. I couldn't sleep. Walking hurt. Sitting hurt. After one night on this mattress I felt so much better. Now after two days I feel like I have a brand new body. I even rode comfortably in the car for two hours today without pain and I usually can't go that long. This is a great mattress for people with back and hip pain(mine is mostly from being overweight). It did smell a bit funny when we opened it. I put a nice mattress cover on it and it hides the smell pretty well. It isn't as bad smelling as a memory foam pillow I bought once. Now two days later the smell is way less when I move the cover. We bought two of these mattresses. One in each room. So far I would absolutely suggest this mattress. It still isn't 12 inches but it says that it may take a week when its cold. I will update once the smell is gone and the mattress is 12 inches so you know how long they both took. oh! I sleep on my back, stomach, and both sides and all are comfortable. Its not too firm or too soft. It came out of the box perfect with no rips, tears, or stains. Update day 11. I still love them. We bought two and they aren't the same. One inflated more and is firmer. The other is still around 9/10 inches and it is much softer. I like it better. The smell is still there when I take the covers off but it isn't bad. If I left them uncovered for a day it would really help but I can't risk it with kids and dogs in the house. I wake up each morning feeling like I have someone else's body. I wish I would have bought this bed years ago. The edges are lower on all sides of both beds, if you sleep close to the edge you will sort of be rolled towards the ground so try to stay a few inches in. Its really cold here right now so it may just need a bit more time to fully inflate. Personally I hope the one stays where it is at because its much softer.

VERY satisfied and saved HUNDREDS (maybe thousands).
The mattress ended up being about what we had expected. More firm than a traditional spring mattress, but softer than others we have either slept on or tested out in a store. We, like most, were tempted in spending much more money from either a store or a bigger name brand online, but overall are very satisfied with our purchase. We also purchased the normal Zinus frame, which went together easily and has been doing a good job for us so far. Packaging. It was easier than expected and the box wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be. It was easy enough to open, get the mattress out (that was nicely packed) and into our bedroom for opening. At some point during the process, we must have torn a small hole in the plastic bag and we could hear air starting to get in. Thankfully, we were able to get the mattress on the frame and the plastic off before too much expansion happened. Set up/Expansion. We slept on the mattress the first night we set it up after about 6-7 hours of expansion. We felt like it was around 11", so we wanted to try it out. After sleeping on it over this past week, it has grown to 12" all the way around. We slid some cardboard (from the shipping box) under the mattress and on the frame to prevent the foam from leaking through the slots. It's worked great so far! Smell. I hesitate to actually say this, but my wife swore for the first couple of days it smelled like Peanut M&M's. She has a weird sense of smell, but it did have a smell, although not bad or overpowering at all. After a week we don't notice anything at all. Firmness. We decided with this mattress in particular because it was supposed to be softer than others. We're glad we got this one, because it is still more firm than we are used to. After a few adjustments to how we sleep, we both find the bed very comfortable and it is great. Movement/Support. Although we haven't tried the wine glass test shown on older commercials, we have tested seeing if we can tell if the other is getting in or out of bed. For the most part, we can't tell. Like almost all foam mattresses, if you are too close to the sides, you will find there isn't a lot of support. I sleep pretty close to the sides and haven't had any issues. Overall impression. I am VERY satisfied with our purchase. Not only did we save HUNDREDS (if not thousands) of dollars, it was delivered quickly and easily. We haven't had to deal with customer support, but hopefully between Amazon and Zinus we could resolve any issues if they were to come up.

WEEK 1 UPDATE: 4 stars!
8/31/17 | My initial impression of this mattress: 3 stars. I will update after sleeping on a while. I purchased the Zinus 12" Gel Infused mattress in size King. I got this mattress over a week ago, and immediately took it out and followed the directions for allowing it to expand. I let it sit in my guest room on the floor untouched for several days before I was ready to move it into place. It did grow to 12" tall, however some of the sides and corners are lumpy or not fully expanded. It also filled that room with a terrible chemical smell for about the first three days. I'm super glad I wasn't ready to use it right away because I would not have wanted to breathe in that smell all night long - can you say "headache." My first impression of the mattress is that it is of decent quality and pretty heavy duty. The mattress is covered with a really nice jacquard cover that looks very nice. I covered mine with a mattress protector right away to hopefully preserve it as long as posssible. Last night was our first night sleeping on the mattress, and it is MUCH HARDER than I had anticipated. I read from Zinus that this mattress is supposed to be a 6 on a scale of 1-10, 1 being the plushest, 10 being the firmest. A medium-firm mattress is what we seemed to gravitate toward when we try out mattresses in-store, so I thought we would be safe with this one. I'm not sure if it will take a week to break-in, I'm hoping it just needs a few days time to get a little softer, because it's just much too hard to me. I would hesitate to run and jump on this mattress for fear that it would hurt, that's how hard it is. I fear that with this company, no two mattresses are manufactured the same? Because how can so many people claim this mattress to be "soft"? It's just so far away from being anything close to "soft" in my opinion. It does seem to be good for the back, however. My boyfriend is about 215 lbs. and has frequent back pain from lifting weights, and he did comment how much better his back felt waking up this morning. I am 120 lbs. and have a lot of lower back and neck pain, and my back actually feels fine, but my neck is aching this morning. I will update that after giving it a weeks time. Some of our other issues were that we both sleep very hot and very restless. We needed something that stayed much cooler throughout the night and didn't transfer motion. This has seemed to check both of those boxes for us, which I'm really happy about. It slept noticeably cooler than the pillow-top we had been sleeping on, and neither of us felt the other moving around all night. Now if only it would soften up a little, I would give it 4 or 5 stars. Will update soon! 9/7/17 | WEEK 1 UPDATE: decided to give it 4 stars, overall. It doesn't seem to be "breaking in," but I suppose that would mean that the mattress is already breaking down, and would actually be a bad thing. I am, however, getting used to the firmness of it, and actually feel like I'm getting a great nights sleep. Additionally, my back pain is completely gone, and with it, many other little aches and pains I used to have CONSTANTLY. It's not placebo effect, because I absolutely hated this thing the first few nights. I have honestly noticed how much better I feel entirely, which has made me a happy consumer. I'm still debating if I should add a topper to it, but I'm afraid that will increase my back pain again. I'll let you know. I am still blown away at how cool this mattress sleeps, as well. My sheets get just warm enough to keep me at a comfortable room-temp throughout the night, but I don't wake up drenched in sweat anymore because of the oven that would form between my sheets with my old mattress. It's really comfortable, probably the most comfortable I've ever slept on, in respect to temperature and breathability. I'm keeping one star off because I just cannot imagine what a 7-10 on the firmness scale would feel like as compared to this one... I mean, would that mattress have to be made of cinder blocks? My gosh.

Great Value Memory Foam Mattress – Comfortable and Easy Setup
It arrived compressed in a small box and expanded into a full queen-size mattress without any issues. It fits my room perfectly, and the 6-inch thickness is more than enough for comfortable use. The mattress is lightweight, so it was easy to move and set up. It feels soft and comfortable, likely memory foam (not 100% sure on the exact material), but it definitely provides good support for everyday use. Overall, very good value for money and a solid choice if you want an affordable, comfortable mattress that’s easy to handle.

Expanded Perfectly - Reviewed 6 Months Later
I have had the same mattress for the past 5 years, and it came to me already five years old. I admit, as a night owl I didn't consider that I might have a more challenging time going to sleep at night because my bed was uncomfortable. I got a mattress topper for Christmas, and it helped a bit, but I didn't notice a huge difference. When my friend mentioned she'd bought a new mattress under similar circumstances, I began searching for a new one immediately. As a student, I obviously cannot really afford to drop $1000 on those fancy mattresses people kept recommending. The Zinus mattress caught my eye because A) it was recommended on just about every site I looked for "High-quality, affordable mattresses," and B) I have a 2-year-old Zinus bedframe that I love and has served me so well. I've had the mattress for a few days now and although it arrived a bit too firm for my liking, it has since softened. Granted, I spent some time walking on it to break it down faster. I expect the mattress to become even softer as it continues to modify to my body shape. Mattress preferences are extremely subjective, but for a 120-pound female, this mattress feels heavenly to me. I've been so excited about how it feels that I'm spending a lot of time in my bed and trying to go to bed earlier. I'm biased toward the brand but I will modify this review if I notice the quality of the mattress degrading. It’s been six months since I purchased this mattress and it has been such a game changer. It’s so comfy that it’s sent me down a rabbit hole of getting new, equally as comfy bedding to accommodate it. My bed is my favorite place in the world right now. I think for me this seemed like one of those too good to be true things because a mattress in a box is a weird concept for sure, but I’ve not had a single issue with it in the time I’ve had it. To anybody on the fence, there’s so many mattresses out there that purport to be one thing or another or the best in the business and the truth is it’s so subjective. But I don’t think the expense of a product has to equate to its quality. The $1000 mattresses aren’t necessarily better sometimes. This mattress was affordable and has proven itself. I’m very happy with the purchase

It is worth it for sure
I have back issues and I’ve had this mattress for a few days now. It expanded to size within a couple hours of opening, and is so comfortable. I’ve been sleeping great and wake up pain free. I used to have the old model in plush but I am glad I went with the medium firm. I was considering splurging to get the lumbar+ version but I am glad I didn’t. P.S. I didn’t get any discount or free product for writing (: Hope this helps!

SERIOUS!! Fiberglass warning!
We bought this mattress Dec 2017, had no other problems except it was kinda uncomfortable from the beginning. The morning after the first night i slept on it, it had a permanent body impression. You also feel like you're sliding down a hill to the middle of bed when two people are sleeping on it. So yes, i have been putting up with this mattress for years. Then spring of 2022 i was so uncomfortable from the saggy mattress that i flipped it over and put my sheet on the backside. Since my body was hurting from the sagginess, the hard firm backside was amazing for a few days. So after i put the sheet on i started noticing shinny things on it. I didn't think anything of it. i thought it was elastic breaking down in my sheet..lol but there was no elastic in it. I completely brushed it off, didn't think anything of it. My kids start to complain of itching and break out with rashes and eczema. They had eczema as babies so i thought oh great its back but that's not normal for them to both have it after not having it for years. I have never had eczema but recently discovered it on my fingers and elbow. I've also started having eye irritations and eye twitching. Back to the story, after about a week i flip the mattress back over to the front. My youngest spills her milk on it so i took the cover off, you know because there's a zipper and thought it was washable. In the meantime i put a sheet over it and go to bed without the cover. From the time i took the cover off to wash it, it was already to late and had no idea. The cover was kind of a pain to get off so i wasn't in a hurry to put it back on. A few days go by and i have already folded lots of laundry on my bed and all put away. Then i decide to put the cover back on and later on we're watching a movie on my bed and i got a flashlight out to find something in the dark. I notice shinny things all over my kids blankets and clothes! Then noticed my bed is absolutely covered in it. Did some research and found out my bed came with fiberglass in it. Fiberglass in my closet, all over my clothes i hung up. Fiberglass on every single blanket in my house. Fiberglass on my couch and rugs. Fiber glass was on my curtains and the box spring. We threw away every piece of clothing and rugs in my house. Threw the mattress away and all of our curtains in our room. It was in the air a long time before we ever noticed it. I put winter clothes away in a bag in Feb and the clothes were covered. Fiberglass was coming out of it before i ever flipped the mattress or took the cover off. It was in every nook and cranny in my house. Our home we bulit is 5000 sq ft. So we bought a couple outfits before we threw everything away and made a safe space in the garage for clean clothes. We contacted lawyers already working on the case and we're told to take pics of everything. Its really hard to take a pic of the glass even with a flashlight. So the best thing to do is take a video while moving the light around. I've taken so many videos and just start to cry. It has been so hard cleaning it, i just wanted to demolish it and rebuild( it has taken a toll on my mental health). Also, we have been so careful not to contaminate our new clothes and blankets but they ended up still getting glass on them. We bought many tape rollers, you can get in pet section at Menards. We have a head lamp that has helped tremendously! Don't vacuum the floor right away just use the the roller because the vacuum will blow it in the air and that can be frustrating after you've already cleaned dresser 5 times before. A handheld cordless vacuum has helped a lot but wont pick up the tiny fibers. I sprayed water on a paper towel to get the tiny fibers. I had to get ladder to clean the fan and crown molding window trim. We bought a huge plastic cover from amazon for the box spring. So there's still glass on it but its concealed in the bag until we buy a new one. We took the dresser drawers out and vacuumed on the inside. I cleaned the dresser completely before i thought about doing that but I'm glad i did because the inside was completely covered with glass! I really am going to have to clean every sq of the house! It's been almost a month and I'm just now confident my room is finally clean. I'll find a few here and there but use the tape to pick it up. My kids rooms did have glass but not as bad as mine. All of their clothes in the drawers and hanging up had to be thrown away. We have thrown away thousands of dollars in material things, I know they can be replaced but somethings have memories and are special. I had to throw away hand made baby clothes my deceased Aunt made my daughter(those things cannot be replaced.) Ive also started having heart pains because of the stress from it all. From the time i wake up till i go to bed is so stressful. How long is it going to take before its completely out of our lives? I use to complain of folding laundry and now it really sucks because i have to do it with a headlamp and tape. Since i have found out about the glass, my eye has slowly started to improve with the twitching, probably bc I'm not laying my face in it anymore. My kids aren't itching anymore but i still do have eczema. Hope this helps someone and if i could go back, i would have thrown it away before ever opening it.

Great guest mattress
TLDR: Great mattress considering its thickness. Good support. Adequate combination of firmness and softness. I had a very good experience with another 14 inch mattress from Zinus before (I had to give it up because of moving), so when I needed a thinner guest mattress I thought I should give this one a try. I have been sleeping on it every night for the past 2 weeks and I haven't had any back pain issues so far. It is firmer than my old 14 inch Zinus mattress. Nevertheless, it still does a good job considering it is much thinner and has no springs. The memory foam is comfy and helps with my comfort as I'm a side sleeper. It inflated within a couple of hours, but I let it rest for 48 hours just to be on the safe side. It was in its full thickness after 12 hours though ( I didn't notice any visible change after that). It didn't have any bad/plastic smell either. Pros: * Right balance of firmness and comfort * Fits under my queen bed easily * Detachable and washable cover Cons: * Slightly firmer than what I like, but it is not a deal breaker Verdict: If you have space under one of your beds and want to host a guest, do not hesitate to get this mattress. They'll love it!

Excellent mattress
I had a recent heart surgery so my brother came to visit for two weeks to help me out. Rather than have him sleep on the sofa or a camping cot, I ordered one of these mattresses. It arrived in two days, self-inflated quickly and was very easy to set up for my guest. He slept on it for two weeks and said it was very comfortable and great for sleeping.
