This is NOT for you if you are not comfortable completely tearing down your laptop. That being said, this keyboard was a perfect fit for my Dell E7470 and saved me a huge headache as my keyboard died and I was unable to open the encrypted system drive.

Perfect fit, backlight works. No issues with connector length like some other brands. Laptop works like brand new. Only minor issue is the cap of that rubber pointer nipple thing on keyboard falls off too easily. Ended up having to superglue it to stay on.

Keyboard works ok but the backlit is not real bright. and the center pointer (blue) does not stay on.

Imagine my dismay after installing this in my Dell Latitude 7480 and finding the backlight does not work. And as others have reported, the joystick button fell off in the first ten minutes of use. It's not the simplest R&R but a small Phillips screwdriver is the only tool needed. Maybe a small flat blade for stubborn items. You'll remove the battery, hard drive (M.2 SSD in mine, easy), several FPC ZIF connections (flip up the black latches) and several small plug connectors to get to the motherboard out. Don't forget to remove the Smart Card - even if it's a dummy, and disconnect the Wi-Fi antenna leads. These are U.FL connectors so pull straight up. Then you'll have access to the keyboard, which is hiding under a panel secured by about 20 M2x2mm screws. Yes, those are tiny. Pro tip: work on a clean surface under good lighting. Group screws with removed parts as the motherboard has different length screws in different places (some are marked on the mobo). On the plus side, it's a nice looking keyboard, clear markings, and works great barring the joystick button that could easily be glued on. I'd have kept it and been happy if it was backlit like my old one, but this one got returned; although I can't say whether it was misrepresented or simply defective.
