CAP Barbell Rubber Olympic Bumper Plate | Multiple Options/Colors

Ok, so everybody knows Cap for making very decent gym related products with very friendly pricing. picked up a set of 15’s. weighing them, they are spot on and are nice quality for home gym use. these get the job done, look good, but cannot be compared to commercial grade and you shouldnt expect them to. this kind of sounds bad but it isn’t, these plates really are great, i just dont think they would hold up to dozens of people using, dropping and abusing them all day every day in a commercial gym setting. they wont be used like that in a home gym. i almost took a star off for one reason. the plates come nicely packaged in a box with foam surrounding the vox corbers and each plate in a plastic bag. when i opened the box i was immediately hit with a strong rubber and oil smell and could see the plates were covered in an oily film through the bag. i wiped them down with paper towels and then a microfiber cloth with windex and they were still a little greasy feeling. this film will eventually evaporate out, but there is quite a noticeable smell in my garage gym. having had cap plates before this film and smell dissapates over the coming days, but i never saw so much of this oil on their plates before. just a bit of inconvenience but in the end the plates function as i would expect them. in the pic i submitted for this review i am using an adapter on the plate to fit my open trap which uses standard 1 inch plates.

Good price and so far no quality issues. As others commented there is a strong odor when first unpacking. It does go away. It also seems oily, again, when first unpacking. I washed with dawn soap and it was no longer an issue. So while the harsh remarks on the odor and oilyiness are valid I found washing with dawn and giving it a day or 2 it is no more an issue then any other plastic weight.

Simple 15lb plates, nothing special, they feel nice and stay on the barbell nicely, should fit most or all barbells, ive used these on (25lb-45lb) barbells. Sturdy, obviously not gonna break or anything and would much rather use these than metal plates. They overall look good and feel good.

Great bumper plates, I bought the pair of (2) 55lb plates and loaded them both on my scale, and they are exactly 110lbs for both of them, I was pleasantly surprised, I was expecting a little bit of a discrepancy in weight due to the low price compared to other brands, but lo and behold the weight accuracy is spot on. The finish is smooth and soft, they did come a little oily and smelly of chemical, but I cleaned them with a kitchen napkin and let them air dry all night and that solved the problem. The hole size is 2", just right for my ritfit Olympic barbell, they are 3-5/16" thick. Great buy!

Being used to steel plates, these are comically large. I honestly thought they made a mistake and sent me 35's when I opened the box. But no just giant, smelly 25 lb plates. Overall I'm very satisfied tho. They're high quality, sit nicely on my bar and seem well balanced. Will definitely be buying more. Although I'm a little worried that the 35's won't fit thru my front door 😂

These are excellent plates. I have a set of the more expensive brand ones, but realized I needed additional plate weights. The quality of these is really good, and they are holding up just as well as the pricey plates. I have purchased these in 10, 15 and 25 pounds, but wouldn't hesitate to purchase heavier ones. They do smell really bad coming out of the box, so be aware you'll have to air them out. It fades in about a week.

Wish I would have actually READ the reviews instead of just looking at the stars given. I'm sure they are great plates..BUT they are covered in greasy whatever it is.. turning my hands black when touched. If you read other reviews you'll see that with MULTIPLE washes it will get less or come off - jury is still out on that one?? And this is ON TOP OF the SMELL. Look, I workout because I care about my health. Not interested in chemical fumes coming from rubber while I do so. Anyway, learned a lesson AGAIN... read reviews...

Olympic plates can be expensive, so I was surprised to see a pair going for $36. Yes, they're only 15 lbs apiece, but that makes my 45 lb Olympic bar 75 lbs. Quite enough for this 80 year old. The plate are solid and strong and slip over the bar nicely.

It is what it is, looks great comes oiled I guess for when stored it keep it in good condition so while it down. 👍

Great bumpers to be honest. No damage, weight is within spec. Just give them a good wipe before you use them as they are a bit greasy from manufacturing.
