Review: do you want jam on it? - This "best of" compilation is spread over two CDs which could mean a lot of filler tracks but not in this case - quite the reverse. I was truly surprised by the quality and variety of the songs on offer here - both those from the 60s and the 70s. Yes I loved their hits, most of which are here, but the other stuff was somewhat of a revelation. There is an enormous range on offer here, from quiet introspection to rocky blues, all performed with vitality and talent. For me personally it was a chance to rediscover a song I remembered from the 60s, but have never been able to place, it turns out the song was "Wait for Me Maryanne". It only got to no 30 according to the sleeve notes - most unjust. Which brings me to another point, if you get the chance buy the CD rather than the download as you well get a beautifully presented product with an illuminating and enjoyable booklet - complete with photographs. This package has obviously been put together with a lot of love and care. If you have an interest in the music of the late 60s and early 70s I would suggest you may find this a rewarding purchase. For me, its been one of the best musical discoveries I have made in a long time. I have really enjoyed listening to the music of The Marmalade - what a great and possibly underrated group they were. Maybe their commercial success in terms of hit singles obscured the extent of their musical talent, if so this package should put the record straight.

Good Music Excellent price.
Music is very subjective, so any assessment has to be personal taste. My wife liked marmalade many years ago and this album has rekindled that memory. This double album provides as far as I can see just about all their best music. If you liked Marmalde you will like this. A good price for a lot of quality music, some happy and some introspective music, a great balance. Very varied style and good musical content. An excellent album to buy.

Generosity
The history of a band with over 40 songs on 2 lavishly packaged CDs and very honest liner notes from Junior Campbell. The CD covers the late 60's and early 70s. The band's clutch of early 70s hits starting with 'reflections of my life' and ending in 1972 with 'radancer' are arguably forgotten gems. Sure, you'll find these tracks listed as mainly top 10 achievements in the Guiness hits book, but when was the last time you heard 'Rainbow', 'Cousin Norman ' and the lovely 'my little one' on the radio? Even the B sides (featured here) are very good. Salvo records have done us all proud with this release and the sound quality is awesome. Dip in and have a listen, CD 1 is 60s and CD 2 is 1970s. On a good day , they knocked the spots off 'the moody blues'. Dean Ford is a better singer than Justin Hayward (and I love Hayward's voice). Listen to 'rainbow ' as a case in point. The Marmalade shone brightly for a short while. Losing Junior Campbell and then having his replacement move on to form a band called 'Blue' were notable bumps in the road. Even if you like no more than a dozen tracks of the 45 on offer...it's still good value at a tenner. Generosity it is.

Still Sounding Good Today
Superb selection of songs from a most underrated band. The Marmalade were my favourite band as a child. It was a totally different world then. We did not have easy access to music i. e. downloads etc. So as a young child it was Top of the Pops where I heard my music. As a consequence it was only the singles from The Marmalade that I new. What an eye opener this collection is. Brilliant musicians, superb vocals and harmonies great music and lyrics. I realise now they were much more than a singles band. Listening to the songs especially the singles has brought great memories back but hey how quickly the years pass. Thankfully we can still obtain their music which stands the test of time.

Just how good we're Marmalade
This is a classic album., I didn't realise just how good Dean Ford and Junior Campbell were as writer's and artists until I listened to all of these tracks. One track "Mama" could have been Crosby, Stills and Nash at there finest. On listening to this album I now realise I had missed something special in what was a golden era of music. .

CDs from the original “The Marmalade” band
I like almost every song in this album, and listen to them weekly. I re-discovered this band about a year ago and was very happy that I can purchase their CD on Amazon. I also like that the literature brochure includes some writing from Junior Campbell and Dean Ford. Shipping was faster than expected, thank you!

Nostalgie

Great Music
I had never heard of Marmalade until a few weeks ago. I was listening to Pandora and a song came on that caught my attention. I walked over to the TV to see who it was and saw that it was I See the Rain by Marmalade. I wanted to find more information so I logged-on to Amazon and discovered they had a string of albums from the mid-sixties to mid-seventies. I ordered this album and it hasn't left my cd player since. I like that the cds are split between '60s and '70s. Great songs on both. I hear elements of Beatles, CSN, Byrds, San Francisco psychedelia, Dylan, Bee Gees and more. Solid songs, nice guitar work and killer harmonies. I wish I'd heard of them in the sixties.
