Asvine V126 Vacuum Filling Fountain Pen, Matte Black Acrylic Fine Nib, Large-Capacity Pen with Gift Case

This isn’t my first 823 clone. I purchased one about a year or so ago and it was vastly inferior. You can tell as soon as you hold the pen. The resin used in this one feels of higher quality compared to the other clone. It does not feel as nice as the 823, but that is now nearly a $400 dollar pen. That one feels more luxurious, softer in a way that once you handle it in comparison, you’ll know. The filling mechanism works well. On my first vacuum fill I got approximately half a barrel. That’s a good amount. The nib writes smoothly and wet. I was worried about that as an “in house” nib is usually an unknown gamble. Well, the gamble paid off. I have the F nib. Design wise, the threading on the cap is lined up to where the nib will be displayed in the center of the cap. It’ll either fall directly across from the clip or directly under it, depending on where you start twisting it close. That’s great attention to detail, and I can’t confirm if it was luck of the draw or if it was intended. (I have the more expensive Asvine vacuum filler and it is slightly off center.) The weight is is good. It’s well balanced and has enough heft to feel expensive. The grip is a nice size and shape, similar to the Pilot version. Overall, once filled with ink, this pen looks and writes great. My only concerns, and they haven't been realized yet, is how it will hold up over time. Will the resin get scratched up easily? Will it start getting duller or yellowing? Will the vacuum mechanism fail? I don’t know and I can’t hold any of that against it, since it hasn’t happened yet.

I had been eyeing this pen for a while now unable to pick a nib size 😅. I finally told myself to get the Fine knowing I had plenty of EF pens. I will say it’s definitely more of a western nib sizing and it is a wet writer. This nib glides like an ice rink with Diamine ink and it gave me a sold 0.5mm line width. It’s been awhile since I’ve used something this smooth so I am still undecided on if I like it or not. My overall impression of the pen itself is that it’s great for its value. The matte black color is stunning and the black trim makes it such a sleek pen! When I first opened the pen I did give the nib a wash as I noted that the coating was preventing ink to flow properly for a dip test. After the nib was cleaned it wrote wonderfully smooth. The tines were not tight on this particular model as I’ve experienced in past Asvine nibs. I was happily surprised though that you can get some line variation with this nib if it’s something you care for but I wouldn’t push the nib for it. The vacuum filler is a breeze to use and it does allow for a full fill. The standard first fill only filled about half way so I opted for a full fill to test the functionality of the pen. No leaks noted but I do question the durability of the end cap piece being plastic up against metal threads how long that will last. I guess only time will tell to determine how truly durable it can be. Overnight the nib stayed wet with no hard starts when attempting to write with it which I do like especially since it doesn’t seem to have a seal in the pen cap. I would recommend this pen to someone wanting to try a Vac filler on a lower budget.

This pen should check a lot of my boxes. Blue? Check. Matte finish? Check. Sturdy construction (mostly)? Check. It has a huge ink capacity and feels solid in the hand. It even posts decently. The problem - and it's a big one - is that it's just not a great writer. It's nice and smooth and wet when it wants to be, but then it will just have little stuttering hard-starts, missing the beginning of lines so much that I get frustrated trying to write with it. (And before you ask, yes, I write with the vacuum valve open, so there *should* be a good supply of ink getting to the nib.) So many people seem to swear by these, so you must stand a pretty good chance of getting a good one. I just didn't though. This was my first Asvine pen, and I'm not eager to try more if this is the writing experience I can expect. EDIT, 2025 So after basically writing this pen off, I did some work on it - I took the nib out, did some adjustments to bring the tines to a more reasonable level of separation (they were too far apart, if I remember right), then made sure everything was aligned properly. And now, after these adjustments, it's a pretty decent writer - very smooth, no more skips and hard-starts. While I added a 4th star, I can't give if 5 stars because I shouldn't have needed to do all this in order to have the thing write consistently.

This is my first vacuum filler pen, and so far, I love it. :) It's nice to see a vacuum filler that won't break the bank. Before this, I've preferred to eyedropper my pens, when I could, but vacuum filling is more convenient and far less likely to be messy. Its form is very similar to the Pilot Custom 823, but at a fraction of the price. The nib isn't scratch, but it has just enough bite to let you know you're using a fountain pen instead of a ballpoint or rollerball. I would say the feedback is a little lighter than a well-used pencil. The writing experience itself has been flawless so far. I've had it about a week, and it's never had a false start. As soon as you put pen to paper, it's ready to go, smooth as silk. Right now I'm using blue Iroshizuku ink. The pen seems to like it just fine. It's well-balanced, and doesn't feel heavy in the hand, but it's heavy enough to feel substantial. It's apparently possible to eyedropper the V126, but it involves using O-rings and silicone grease, so I haven't done it. The ink capacity of this pen is such that I wouldn't really feel a need. There's only one thing I can really ding it for: I would've liked a metal clip that was either gold or silver colored. The other colors for this pen have clips that are a bit more elegant than the matte black of this one. That's not enough of an issue that I'd take a point off for it, though.

Pen looks and feels amazing. Vacuum fill worked flawless. Started writing with it got half of one word then dried and skipped. Opened the plunger it wrote super thick lines then stopped working then would write super thick then skip lines nib is a fine tip but writes like a Bold. Wish it worked flawless but I think I have a defective nib or feed. My other no name amazon FP works flawless everytime all the time. This pen was disappointing.

Love the feel of the pen as far as texture goes and the look is nice too. The main downside is the nib is terrible. It barely writes correctly in any orientation (or with any ink) and it's also scratchy. I've checked it with a loop and it's aligned and no noticeable defects I can detect. It doesn't have the baby bottom smoothness that can be corrected with a 2000 or 3000 grit abrasive either so I just don't use the pen or complain to myself when I do. I know it's a copy/clone of the Pilot 823 vacuum fill as is the Wing Sun 699. The Wing Sun is also a much better pen due mainly to the nib. I own all of these and if you want the best bang for your buck, the Wing Sun with a gold nib is just as nice as the Pilot 823 and $200 less. The Asvine V126 is a distant last place. For the same price as the Asvine V126 I much prefer the TWSBI ECO line as their nibs have always been more usable without the nib issues. And if you want to go up a little more in price you can find better nibs on many other pens. The reason I didn't just swap this nib out was it's a color matched nib.

I have slowly been amounting quite the collection of fountain pens. I pens from just about every price range ($10 - $300)... and I just keep coming back to write with this one. For starters, the box and overall packaging for this pen is quite nice. Honestly, it's right up there with the Pilot Vanishing Point... The pen itself feels quite nice in the hands. It has a decent wait (but not so much as to be taxing for longer writing sessions), has a little bit of texture (from the matte finish), and has a nice saturated smokey color. The nib writes very smoothly across a multitude of paper qualities. As this is my first vacuum style fountain pen, I am unable to comment on the overall performance... but can say that I can fill the pen to ~75% capacity after compressing the chamber a few times. You can easily get through quite a few lines of writing without opening the 'seal.' You can definitely tell if you have forgotten this step with longer writing as it will start to fade bit by bit. However, when you open the ink chamber, this pen lays down a nice wet line. So, when you combine that with a fantastic ink capacity, you get a fantastic pen! All in all... I am so happy with this pen. As I stated above, it has quickly become one of my go-to pens for my workday. I would absolutely buy another one (or two) if they had other color options w/o the 'gold' nib... that's just not my style. However, I highly recommend this pen as it is great for beginners or even hobbyist.

Pen is perfect but I should have ordered it with EF nib. I ordered a replacement nib and swap was super easy, easier than I thought it would be.

It's a amazing fountain pen that works well, feel smooth and looks beautiful. The first one I got didn't flow very nice so I had to exchange it. The new one is perfect. But for this reason -1 star. I don't think this will be a common issue and I would buy this pen again. Be aware that the fine is still almost like a medium. If your looking for real fine writing for for the EF.

Writes smoothly with 30 year old Parker Penman Ebony ink. Flows even better with a much newer bottle of Parker Quink Blue. The vacuum fill is a brilliant idea that works well. I see no flaws in workmanship, plus you can order a maintenance kit and a set of 3 different nibs for a remarkably reasonable price. The Asvine fine nib is not as fine as my 1969 Parker 45 but finer than my 1992 Parker Duofold Centennial medium nib. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a workhorse, easy-to-fill pen.
