I got this for my wood chisels. I have some very expensive chisels with wooden handles and would never put a steel hammer to them. This works great. It's got just enough weight to it to give me the power I need. The finish to it I can tell it is a quality tool and the grain is very tight. I would recommend this.

Good mallet. Only needs light sanding to smooth it out, especially if you’re going to apply any kind of finish. As to its suitability and/or durability it all depends on your style and method of use. If you’re taking light taps on all wood handled chisels while carving it should last you a lifetime. If, however, you’re whanging away on a chisel with a metal hoop on it while mortising hickory, then, not so much.

First of all, This is exactly the kind of Mallet I was hoping for. It is the right size and weight. (11.75 inches, 309.9 grams) It feels good in the hand. The handle and the head fit perfectly together. The handle is long enough so you can hold it all the out or choke up closer to the head wherever you need it. It came requiring some sanding and finishing. This was perfect because I wanted to do my own finishing. I dampened the unfinished mallet with water which made the fibers stand up. I took some fine sand paper and sanded the mallet smooth. I then let it dry thoroughly and applied some paste wax which I rubbed it off and applied a second coat and rubbed it off. I then rubbed the entire mallet with some 0000 Steel Wool. The new mallet now has a beautiful smooth amber finish. I then tested the new mallet with a chisel on some scrap red oak. The results were perfect. This GREBSTK Wooden Mallet is a good choice.

I'm old and went to a polytechnic high school and I swear I'm supposed to hit a wood chisel with a wooden mallet. Unfortunately there's only one store in Portland, Oregon that seems to sell them and I went online before I made it to the store. Of course shipping, getting a replacement, etc, too so long that I bought a mallet at Woodcrafters and now I have two of these rare mallets. The first one I got from Amazon was painted gold and felt light. The paint made my hand smell metallic. I returned it. This replacement is, well, a wooden mallet. Works for hitting a wood chisel. Seems fine to me.

Got a new countertop ice maker and found that the nuggets stick together when put in a bag for freezer storage. Other model reviews kept noting the handles loosened from the heads, but this one noted it stayed put. And it does! Not too big, nice construction, and decent price.

It is a nicely made mallet of solid beechwood. I would buy it again.

Gut. Sehr schön verarbeitet. Über die Langlebigkeit kann ich momentan noch nichts schreiben... man wird sehen.....aber ich denke das wird schon passen. Es ist kein Vorschlaghammer.....immer mit Gefühl arbeiten.....dann hält das Material auch länger. Update Nach längerem Gebrauch...... top Kann ich mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen
