A very useful bit of kit for the home.
Got this as A Christmas present but tried it out myself. This has a dual voltage range, so low voltages can be detected. My own doesn't have this facility. I know from experience this is an extremely useful bit of kit for detecting mains voltage. Just place the tip near a plug, wire or socket and the tip lights up red. Way better than using the old style "screwdriver" neon testers. Four stars as I've not used this for any length of time.

This is ok, doesnt give a very acurate reading. I would get a higher quality or priced voltage tester.

Sensitivity overcome with digital readout
Whilst the device can pick up power 2feet away from reality (as others have said) it does have a numerical readout on the top which helps to pinpoint the power signal more accurately. The higher the number the closer you are to the power cable.

Indispensable pour tout bricoleeur
Petit testeur de tensions alternatives pour détecter la présence de tension alternative sans avoir à se connecter aux fils. Évite de percer accidentellement sur des fils encastrés, seule condition, la ligne à détecter doit être alimentée. Permet aussi de détecter où est coupé un fil électrique. Très pratique pour un prix raisonnable, je recommande cet achat.
