Would a king size mattress fit a double bed better

No, a larger mattress laying over a smaller base is dangerous. Every mattress should be bought with the corresponding bed size. There is no benefit or logical reason for placing a king mattress on a double bed base. Whether you buy a Dormeo mattress or any other, please don't buy a larger mattress for a smaller base as you will most likely injure yourself or at very best, find yourself constantly falling off the edge when sitting on sleeping.
