In Me, Myself & Irene , Jim Carrey plays Charlie Baileygates, a cop for the finest police force in the world (Rhode Island's). In denial about his wife's affair, he's a nice guy who goes around trying to do the right thing but is taken advantage of every step of the way. Instead of confronting people, he takes the abuse, balls it up and hides it in the pit of his stomach. His psyche can only take so much, though and soon his alter-ego Hank pops out to do every libidinous thing Charlie would never do. It's a great premise for a Jim Carrey film. Unfortunately, it's not a great Jim Carrey film. Famous for the lowbrow, shock comedies like Dumb and Dumber , Kingpin and There's Something About Mary , here the Farrelly brothers get lost in a series of lazy gags and an even lazier plot about some evil golf development and the woman, Irene (Renée Zellweger), who needs to be protected because she knows something about it. Some of the jokes hit (there's a bathroom scene that's 10 times funnier than the hair-gel gag in There's Something About Mary ), but many more miss. There are some great concepts (his three sons are hip-hop geniuses) that don't go anywhere (they swear a lot). It's like the movie itself has a split personality--funny ideas trapped in a less-than-funny film. -- Andy Spletzer, desertcart.com Mild-mannered police officer Charlie Baileygates (Jim Carrey) is given the job of taking the beautiful Irene P. White (Renee Zellweger) upstate to face false criminal charges. Trouble is, Charlie suffers from Split Personality Disorder and wherever he goes, so does his foul-mouthed, super-aggressive alter-ego Hank. When an attempt is made on Irene's life, she, Charlie and Hank are forced to go on the run, with Charlie and Hank fighting over her affections and the true criminals, the Rhode Island state troopers, and Charlie's three black sons all following in hot pursuit. Madcap comedy from the makers of 'There's Something About Mary' and 'Kingpin'. Review: Hilarious and underrated Jim Carrey classic - 'Me, Myself & Irene' is one of those films that perfectly showcases Jim Carrey at his absolute best. His performance as Charlie/Hank is both hilarious and surprisingly impressive, switching between personalities so effortlessly. The film is packed with outrageous comedy, classic slapstick moments, and that slightly edgy humour the Farrelly Brothers are known for. It might not be for everyone, but if you enjoy bold, over-the-top comedy, it absolutely delivers. There’s also a bit of heart underneath all the chaos, which makes it more than just a silly comedy. The supporting cast does a great job too, especially the kids, who add some of the funniest moments in the film. Overall, a really funny, slightly wild comedy that still holds up today. Definitely worth watching if you’re a fan of Jim Carrey or early 2000s comedy. Review: Worth a revisit! - Brilliant film great soundtrack!

Classic over the top Jim Carrey comedy
A classic over the top performance by Jim Carrey and the supporting cast are phenomenal in this and make it such a great comedy. Absolute bonkers story, but at the same time the madness makes it great.

Funny film
So funny. A good natured film with peoples awkward prejudices thrown in your face, in a good humoured way. I sat down to watch with various people. Some of the humour was very rude including a sex toy in one scene. So it might be awkward watching with the local priest, grandma etc.

Psycho Jim at his finest
Such an overlooked classic from Mr. Carey definitely a film for grown ups or cool kids :) It's still just as funny to me now as it was when I saw it in the theatre. A dark and hilarious take on mental health through the lense of the madman Jim, if you think you'll like this then you will so have fun :P
