These things are SLICK!
I used these Blumotion Hinge Adapters for compact door hinges on my Merrilat-brand cabinets. While these hinge-adapter bumpers are not specifically advertised as being universal I read a lot of other reviews from other customers who used them for other cabinets with non-blumotion hinges and since they said these worked well for them I took the chance. And am I ever glad I did -they work WONDERFULLY. Installation was a real snap using a flexible shaft bit extension. You REALLY need one of those to put these in correctly or else you are not going to be able to get your drill or driver in at the correct angle and the crooked screw is going to make the bumper sit askew. What you want looks just like this: [...] or you can buy it locally at your friendly home or hardware store. You'll also need a drill bit that fits a 1/4" bit extension since you want to pre-drill the hole or risk cracking and ruining the wood on your cabinet. A set like this is what you want: [...] you can buy something like that locally as well but you will need a drill that can make the pilot hole that will fit in the 1/4" socket of the flexible extension so it will drill into the cabinet face straight or you will also have crooked bumper. The easiest way to mark where you want to drill this hole is to hold the bumper up to the cabinet in the corner and use a scratch awl through it to bop a small divot in the wood with a hammer. Then you can use the flexible bit with the correct sized drill to make your pilot hole. The tool you want is a scratch awl like this one: [...] -once again this tool can be bought locally. Using this method you can mark the hole, drill it, and then screw in the bumper all in about a minute flat and get on to the next cabinet door. I opened up all my bags and determined which part I needed and put them into a small container to bring them with me as I moved from door to door. After adjusting the first door I knew exactly how many turns I had to adjust the adjustment screw and did all of them at the same time. From that point it was an assembly line and I knocked each door out in under a minute. The whole job only took an hour or so to do every cabinet in the house -including clean-up. Pros: *All-metal housing makes for a strong and durable mount even though it only uses one screw. It's built to jam into the corner and if you are careful to drill a good pilot hole it will fit in there like it came with the cabinet. *The kit comes to do both the compact door hinges with overlap and the without overlap: The plastic spacer and longer screw are for those doors that have no overlap around the outside face opening. *These are so easy to put up if you follow my instructions above. You only need a drill, a flexible bit extension, a hex-drive drill bit set, a scratch awl, a hammer, and a #1 phillips-head hex bit. A phillips screwdriver is needed to adjust the tension -but doesn't everyone have one of those? Optionally, a 90-degree phillips screwdriver is really handy to get that last bit of torque on the screw so you don't have to worry about stripping the screw-head (the flex-extension is a bit hard to get pressure on the screw) or over-tightening it. But if you don't have one of those a regular phillips screwdriver will work if you need to get the screw a little tighter than you can get with the flexy shaft. Cons: *You have to buy these things in a set of 10 to get a good deal. They are a little more expensive than the other brands but after reading about how the others would break or get loose because they were plasticy I figured it was worth it to only have to do the job once. These are high-quality items so you are just going to have to pay a Finn each for them or go with the cheapos and take your chances. These things are great and easy to install if you have the right tools (see above.) They work OH SO NICE -and have a lot of adjustment to account for how large your door is or how much spring your hinges have pulling them closed. Really large doors like those for full-height pantries might need two of these per door. The adjustment can be made pretty stiff but the door might want to twist if it is 4+ feet long and only has one of these on the top and not one on the bottom. For regular sized upper or lower cabinet doors just one bumper at the top corner is needed. Just buy some and put them in. I wish I had put these in YEARS ago -no more slamming doors! You won't be sorry.

Great product and customer service
Works great and I think will save our cabinet doors from cracking. I got these because one of our cabinet doors cracked from being slammed. These are easy to install (although a bit of a knuckle scraper with the screw driver) and easy to adjust the closing speed. Customer service was great too. They initially shorted me 2 devices of the 15 I ordered and sent the additional ones immediately after I called them, no questions asked. Would recommend.

Yes, they work!
I was tired of the sound of slamming cabinet doors in the kitchen because of the "self-slamming hinges". I went in search of retrofit hinges that wouldn't need a lot of redrilling or refitting, and I ran across this little gadget. It seemed too good to be true, but with so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. When they arrived (I bought a 15-pack), I took one out and pressed on the grey plunger with my thumb. I was skeptical. Way too hard to press. I didn't think there was any way my self-slamming kitchen cabinet doors were going to be able to work with these. I installed one on the out-of-the-way door above the refrigerator so the hole wouldn't be visible if I had to remove it. My fears were quickly eased. After holding the device in place, I used an awl to mark where the screw would go in the cabinet frame. I drilled a small pilot hole and drove in the screw (I used a flexible shaft on my drill for both drilling the pilot hole and driving the screw so I could be parallel to the top of the cabinet). Easy-peasy. About five minutes for each door. Be sure your current cabinet hinges are self-closing (mine were more like "self-slamming"). This won't work with a regular hinge since it requires the force of the self-closing hinge to provide pressure on the soft-close plunger. Installing 14 of these took about an hour and a half. Installs on both left- or right-hinging doors. It's been a few weeks since I installed them, and I still get a kick out of trying to intentionally slam one of my kitchen cabinets closed, only to have it quickly stop and slowly close the last couple of inches. Unfortunately, my bathroom vanities all have soft-close hinges, so I don't get to install any more of these. A great device at a great price, and much less expensive (and easier!) than replacing all the cabinet hinges. I couldn't be happier.

These things are GREAT - with a nearly complete home reno
These things are GREAT - with a nearly complete home reno, I now have 30 cabinet doors with soft-close. But there are some things to consider. These come with the spacer which I found I had to use in a few places (due to door hinge crowding). The included spacer is SUPER - it literally snaps onto the pneumatic device so it's easy to handle on the install. BUT here's the thing with these devices. You need a near zero-clearance drill - well, TIGHT clearance - to pilot the holes. I have such a device (flexible shaft with hex drive), but if you don't have such a device you're not going to be able to snug them up into the corner. If that's an issue for you, choose one of the other style of devices that allows a diagonal screw pilot-hole and then you can drill those holes with about any hand-drill (I installed two such diagonal pilot-hole devices in the home so I've seen it both ways). Still I love these particular devices and the tightness of access when drilling is the only reason I did not select five-star rating - they are easily adjustable and work great with narrow (lightweight) doors (11.5" x 44") and just as well with bigger doors (20.5" x 24"). Oh, there was one other rather odd thing. In the bag of devices I rec'd some had only the short screw, some and only the long screw, and some had both screws ??? It all worked out for me as I had various placement issues and the combination fit my needs.

Silence is golden
This is an outstanding product! I purchased 20 of these soft closers to install on cherry cabinets which have Blum self-closing hinges. Despite having felt bumper dots on all corners, the doors always closed loudly. These closers made an instant difference. They were quick and easy to install -- thanks largely to fellow Amazon reviewers for their installation instructions and tips. When installing, depending upon your cabinets, you will use either the short screws or longer screws that are included with the closers. Mine required the shorter screws, and my one relatively minor disappointment with these is: I really wish that the seller had included an extra screw, as I dropped or misplaced one. I will have to go to a hardware store to purchase a right-sized screw.

Great Product and inexpensive to boot!
These are very well made and work like a charm. I love that there is an adjustment for the strength of resistance on the close. I originally bought an 8 pack to see if I liked them and then ordered 25 more. Two complaints however: 1) I agree with other reviewers that the screws provided by the seller are junk. I was continuing to strip the heads, even with a pilot hole. I replaced them with 2 inch drywall screws and with an 1/8 pilot hole there were no more stripped heads. Super easy to install and the spacers are a must. 2) They came with no instructions. It took me a while to figure out how to use the spacers but once I did they work great. Since I had no idea where to mount them on the cabinet door frame I called the company. They said it really doesnโt matter. I found that mounting them in the corner didnโt allow room for my drill so rather than messing with a flex bit on my drill I just installed them a little below the upper corner so I had room to drill and screw. No problem. Just consider that they slightly reduce access to your cabinet so consider that when you decide on placement so you donโt hit the mechanism when you pull things out of the cabinet. I asked the company why they donโt include directions with the item and they said they do. Apparently Amazon buys them in bulk and sends the number you order in a plastic bag with no instructions.

The only ones that actually worked for my cabinets
These are a bit bulkier than other ones out there, however none of the other ones I tried worked and these worked perfectly. I am super happy with this purchase and would recommend them.

Decent hinge adapters with a couple stupid flaws.
I purchased these add ons because blum was supposed to be the best of the bunch. They're not bad and they dampen the doors fairly well, but they have design flaw that Grass and Softclose don't. With the other brands you put the screw in at 35-45 degree angle and it pulls the hinge adapter tight into the corner. These are straight horizontal screw holes that are spaced less than 1" from the top, meaning that the chuck of a drill won't get truly straight/flat when trying to put the screws in, causing the adapter to slightly angle down. They still work ok from what I can tell, but its sort of annoying since I paid a premium for the "best" ones. The other thing that irritates me is that the damping doesn't seem to be consistent across all the 25 i bought. I was able to adjust them all to be even, it was just sort of a tedious task. Also, there are one or two that seem to pop and crack when you open the door. Overall they're pretty good, and I'll continue to use them since all the cabinetry in my house is builder grade oak that I want to replace in a few years anyway, so these and new hardware are just small/cheap upgrades for the time being. Also as a note - The first set of 25 I purchased from BCTC Product deals was shipped to me in sandwich bags missing all the short screws. I was really irritated since those are the ones I actually need so I returned and purchased from Quality Knobs and Hardware, and they were all perfectly intact in their factory bags with both screws and the spacer.

Fabulous.
Relatively easy to install - just need an electric drill to make a pilot hole and a screwdriver to fit the adapter - otherwise all parts supplied. I struggled a little with fitting one of the right-hand widgets and it sits at an angle compared with its left-hand neighbour but still works very well. Time will tell how long they last but thanks to God, so far so great. I have attached a video to show the difference between closing these cabinets with the Blumotion fitted, and the last one when I ran out of widgets!

Classy upgrade
Works perfectly with vestibule closet as doors tended to slam easily. These are lighter doors so the Adjustable tension screw is handy for a perfect closure. Not too fast or slow. Used the plastic adapter as door is inside the closure, fits perfectly. Good quality heavy metal.

Life is much quieter now
These slow closers are fantastic! We thought we were going to have to replace all our kitchen cabinets until my husband found these. We read all the other reviews and went with this make and not the cheaper plastic ones. We are glad we did. They are perfect. Easy to install, no removing old hardware just adding these on the inside. Life is much quieter now. These are worth the money.
