The Exploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology Junior Notebooking Journal is much like themExploring Creation with Human Anatomy and Physiology Notebooking Journal, but is designed for younger students or those with limited writing skills. All the lines are primary writing lines (a dashed line between two solid lines), and there are far fewer than in the original journal. This Junior Notebooking Journal is perfect for: Younger students that have not yet mastered handwriting Older students that are delayed in handwriting mastery Older students with learning disabilities Students that are new to written narration Each lesson in the junior journal begins with two fun coloring pages for the student to color while he listens to the reading of the text. The coloring pages reinforce the lesson's content and match the learning exercises with visible body organs on children doing every day activities. These pages are followed by a template designed to encourage creative expression. The children can illustrate what they have learned and write a sentence or two about the topic. Next, the student is given the opportunity to work with and learn the key vocabulary words presented in the text. Included are puzzle piece cut-out and match vocabulary activities, lift the flap vocabulary activities, partially filled-in crosswords (only two crosswords in the junior journal compared with one for each lesson in the other notebooking journals), and many more. These learning activities give the student another opportunity to see and think about the most important vocabulary words found in the lesson, increasing his retention of both the important terms and the subject matter of the text. As well as vocabulary work, the student has a choice between print copywork, cursive, or both. The Scriptures used for copywork are shorter than in the original notebooking journal, and the font is larger. Further, when a notebooking activity requires the student to label a diagram, a template is provided. Pointers to each part of the organ that needs to be labeled are included as well as the correct number of spaces the student needs to write the word correctly. The first letter of each word has been filled in for extra help. Templates to complete all the notebooking assignments, the Personal Person Project with transparencies for the organs, project record keeping, Scientific Speculation Sheets and, of course, the same beautiful, full-colored miniature books found in the original notebooking journals are included in the junior journal. There are some higher level activities missing from the junior journal, but they are replaced with cut and paste activities that bring the subject to life. What's missing? The lengthy and technical Vocabulary Crosswords The What Do You Remember? written review questions The Final Review These junior journals will be perfect for the beginning writer or the child who is not yet writing well. Every child writes at a different age, so age is not the best factor when determining whether to purchase a regular notebooking journal or the junior journal. The best determining factor is whether or not the child feels comfortable writing paragraphs. If not, the junior journal is a great tool to help the child begin incorporating writing into his learning. Perfect for younger elementary students or those students with limited writing skills. Review: Great for the homeschool science mom! - As a homeschool mom I have struggled finding a science curriculum that all my kids love given the wide range of ages. This Junior book has helped my youngest stay included while learning and having fun. Review: Value - Great book for our homeschool.

Great addition to the Series!
We actually bought both the regular notebooking journal as well as this Junior version for my two kids. I thought the regular one would be too difficult for my 2nd grader so I got him the Junior and gave the regular one to my 5th grader. The only thing we have a problem with is that the Junior workbook has a bunch of coloring pages that my boy doesn't really care for. But then his sister would have liked those at his age so it may just be the preference of my boy. He wants more of the crossword puzzles like what regular notebook has but easier for him. I copied one out of her notebook and he found it too difficult. He just isn't a coloring page kind of kid. He does like and all the labeling and writing pages as well as the minibooks that you get to put together and glue in. Overall the book is great for our needs and I know I wouldn't have taken the time to put together such great pages to go along with our study if they weren't already there for us. So I think the notebook is a great addition to the program! I hope they have notebooks for all the series.

Use with autistic son and it works well- pictures included
I use this with my autistic 11 year old. It is the junior notebook, writing is a challenge for our son. This notebook is a perfect compliment to the textbook which I also purchased and reviewed. I thought the lessons would be too tough at first and wondered if the notebook would bring discouragement, it does sometimes. There is a writing passage for each lesson that is not necessary, it is to practice handwriting. This notebook has two coloring pages at the beginning of each lesson that is just filler but the pictures do go with the lessons. We enjoy the mini books at the end to cut out and fill in. You could take all the mini books and make a lapbook with them using folders. We do that and he likes it. I guide him though some parts but mainly he is doing it all himself. He is at a 3rd-4th grade reading level. Pictures of him using it included.

excellent workbook
i homeschool my 1st grade son and he loves this journal. i wasn't going to buy it b/c i didn't think it was necessary. i also hesitated b/c another reviewer mentioned the idea that boys might not like the coloring involved. i am so happy i bought this journal anyway. firstly, it lays out your lesson plans for you which makes teaching a breeze. secondly, my son actually asks to do science b/c he likes to color and draw while i read to him. it's such a cool way to work. i really can't believe how enthusiastic he is about working in this journal. This is a very helpful notebook
I used Apologia's Botany book, last year with a co-op group. We used our own note books , and though we still learned alot, it required alot more work. When I planned my curriculum for this school year, I decided I would use the company's notebook. I am so happy I did too, it's such a time saver. This book is beautifully made & has everything I need for my youngest child to go through the year. I don't have to pre-make anything either, which is another plus. Thank you for such a wonderful product, it's such a blessing.

Awesome! Love it already!
I can't wait to start using this curriculum! Just got it in the mail for my 2nd grader and I absolutely love the layout of the notebooks. They go right along with the text book. With the space provided for diagrams, notes, etc.. the children can be as detailed or vague as needed. Also purchased the regular notebook for my 6tgh grader and it's perfect! Goes right along with the text, and has more note taking and activities than little brothers, but they sync really well.
