I don't think I've ever felt so strongly about an author' FEARNE COTTON ' A portrait of female ambition in all its raw and divine glory, Carrie Soto will stay with you long after the last page is turned' ERIN KELLY Taylor Jenkins-Reid, Sunday Times bestseller, April 2023 Review: TJR never disappoints! - There’s something magical about the way TJR writes her books which is why I knew I’d love and enjoy reading every single page of this one too. I’m not much into sports but something about the way this was written had me anticipating to see what would happen in every match. I love the bond between Carrie and her father and although they were both not perfect in any way, their love for tennis and each other had me bawling my eyes out a few times. I also love how Carrie’s agent, Gwen, could see past the defenses Carrie builds around herself and how she stood by her through thick and thin. Also, love the way the relationship between Carrie and Bowe developed and how all these people were there for her to encourage and support her when she lost the one person who had always been there for her. Lastly, I love how, towards the end, Carrie came to realise the love she has for the sport, the one thing her dad had always wanted for her- to have fun while playing. Review: great read - best one yet

mersmirising audiobook! loved it
There’s something compelling about watching a woman refuse to be anything less than extraordinary - and that’s exactly what this story delivers. ✨ 🔅“𝘞𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘯.”🔅 Carrie is a force of nature: ambitious, ruthless, blunt, cold - almost emotionally impenetrable, except when it comes to tennis. She doesn’t try to be likable. She doesn’t soften her edges. She just 𝘪𝘴. Her journey from childhood to the world stage was gripping and impossible to look away from. Watching her fight, fall, rise, and fight again was mesmerizing.😍 And then there’s Javier Soto, the quiet heart of the story. 🤍 What a father. He understood Carrie - her fire, her pride, even her silences - and stood beside her without ever trying to change her. His presence brought warmth to an otherwise fierce narrative. I loved him. TJR’s writing feels simple on the surface but lands with emotional precision. Her characters are messy, flawed, sometimes frustrating and deeply human. There were moments I understood Carrie completely and others when I wanted to yell at her. That tension made it feel real. Yes, it’s about tennis. A lot of tennis. But it’s also about ambition, obsession, and the cost of greatness. It’s about what it takes to chase a dream - and what you’re willing to sacrifice for it. 🔥 And at its heart, it’s about a father-daughter relationship - about acceptance, understanding, and loving someone exactly as they are. This was only my second audiobook, and I still remember how completely it absorbed me. 🎧 At a time when audiobooks weren’t really my thing, this one made me rethink everything. However, while I admired so much about this book and felt deeply connected to its characters, the ending didn’t quite land for me the way the rest of the story did. It’s not that I hated it… I just don’t know if it gave me what I was hoping for.

The most engrossing and entertaining book
The downside of perfectionism is that you are so used to getting it right, you completely collapse when you get it wrong".-Taylor Jenkins Reid This book is the most engrossing and entertaining book I have read this year. It's a story about a Legendary athlete Carrie Soto attempting a comeback. Carrie Soto is such a magnificent character she's determined, confident and self-aware knows her worth and what a brilliant tennis player. She has been coached by her father so there's an essence of the authentic and wholesome father-daughter relationship in the story. Then there's Bowe Huntley who is also a tennis player both Carrie and Bowe start practicing together for their matches and then their bond takes a turn towards love so there's a beautiful relationship that starts from here 😍❤️ I loved reading about them . TJR writes such incredible and immersive narratives with such realistic and well developed characters that keep the readers glued to the book. I enjoyed reading this book so much. I loved the writing style everything in this book was just marvelous. If you're a TJR fan or someone who loves reading historical fiction then this book is for you.🫶 RATING-4.5🌟🌟🌟🌟✨/5

A fierce, unforgettable read
Some books you enjoy. Some books you admire. And then some books completely take over your brain — Carrie Soto Is Back was that for me. I started the audiobook and about 10% in I knew I needed to physically see the words on the page. I ordered the book immediately and ended up doing this perfect combo of listening and reading, which honestly made the experience even more immersive, especially the news and match commentary sections. As someone completely obsessed with tennis, I could not put this book down. What I loved most is that this isn’t just a comeback story about records and legacy. It’s about identity, joy, grief, and learning how to be a person when the thing you’ve built your entire life around starts to shift. Carrie is intense, driven, prickly, and unapologetic, and I loved her from the very beginning. Watching her slowly let go of the noise and rediscover the pure love of playing, especially during Wimbledon, was one of those moments where you can feel everything finally clicking. Her relationship with her father, Javier, completely wrecked me. It’s sweet and complicated and formative in a way that shapes how Carrie moves through every other relationship in her life. His death was truly heartbreaking and not something I saw coming, and the way it forces Carrie to grow — not just as a player but as a human being — felt very true to who she was. Even moments like Nicki calling to say she would drop out of the US Open too showed how rivalry can exist alongside deep understanding and respect. I also really loved the slow, steady romance between Carrie and Bowe. It never felt like the center of the story, but it added so much warmth and grounding. The dynamic of Javier quietly recognizing what was happening before Carrie was ready to fully admit it, and Carrie still wanting to protect that relationship and sneak around in a way, felt quiet and genuine. The character arcs across the board felt earned. Not everyone gets the fairytale ending or the trophy, but they evolve. They choose new paths. They find meaning beyond winning. I loved that not everything wrapped up perfectly, but everyone still grew.

Beautiful from start to finish - especiallyl the last sentence had me
One of her best books so far, even if you don't really agree with the FMC or her ways, you get to know and understand her deeply and are just rooting for her the entire book. End the last sentence of this book is just masterclass. Truly beautiful from start to finish with (as usual) important messages along the way.
