- Mixing Audio

This book is excellent. If you want to truly understand mixing, this is one of the best resources you can buy. I was hesitant at first because I already watch a lot of YouTube content and assumed a book might be a waste of time. I was wrong. The way this book explains concepts is incredibly clear and practical. Within the first 30 pages, it completely changed how I think about mixing—and I’ve been mixing for over 5 years. It covers fundamentals and deeper concepts in a way that actually sticks and translates directly to better mixes. Highly recommended for both beginners and experienced engineers!

The Bible of audio production. The information is detailed and informative, with plenty of online examples and practice mixes available.

Essential reading if you're getting into mixing, great to have around to review over time. Practically everything in it is spot-on - stuff I've learned myself over the last few decades. Great discussion and detail on dynamics and dynamics processing (i.e. compression and the like). Downside is it's not entirely updated - a lot of old graphics. Some of the terminology is UK specific and can be annoying (like "sequencer" for "DAW" - that one drives me nuts).

So far, I absolutely love this book!! It is just what I was looking for. If you want to understand all the ways to manipulate and edit sound, this is THE book!! I've only just started, but so far, it is "da bomb"!! Will be back later with more, but so far, it's excellent!! A nice thick book at over 1" (about 1 1/2"s) thick. I can see that it's going to be my audio mixing bible.

The book was required for my Mixing and Mastering class at Oregon State University. It is organized well and covers advanced concepts. I am going to keep it for reference throughout my new career in music technology and production. #realdawnsly

This book is promising something it doesn’t deliver. Published in 2023 and claiming to have over 2,000 audio samples related to the content of the book. Those 2,000 files are not available. The link in the book is to the previous edition, don’t align to the table of contents and are missing all of the content after chapter 8. If you buy this book like I did, relying on the audio files to compliment the book material, you’ll be disappointed. It’s too bad, because the content in the book is excellent and provides a solid foundation for audio mixing and signal manipulation. Yet the author never delivered on what is represented on this book overview and in the book itself. The audio content does not exist. I’ve been in contact with the publisher for over a year, getting periodic updates that the content will be “coming soon” and it never does. Three years after publishing is way too long. If you buy this book, you’ll have to rely on the book content standalone, and maybe that’s ok for you, but it was not what was advertised.
