This is a very good and simple to operate coffee maker. One button and brewing starts. No clock or extra features you don't need. Makes very hot coffee and keeps it hot. It will not shut off automatically which I like. Just remember to turn it off when you're done.

This BLACK+DECKER coffee maker is straightforward, reliable, and easy to use, exactly what I want before I have had my first cup. The 12-cup capacity works well for families, offices, or anyone who considers one cup merely an introduction. The non-drip carafe pours cleanly, the removable filter basket makes cleanup easier, and the Vortex showerhead helps distribute water evenly over the grounds. A practical machine without complicated controls, because coffee should wake you up, not require a training course.

This coffee maker was purchased to replace a Mr. Coffee that was in use for about 10 years. It is very basic, and does make good coffee. I agree with other reviewers that the system to grab a cup while brewing does not work very well. The problem lies, I think, in the fact that the basket is not engineered to be held in place well enough when the spring is depressed. Even taking the glass carafe out when brewing is done will show this. Instead of the spring engagement stopping the flow of coffee, it causes the basket to rise. I tried making sure that the lid is securely latched, etc. and it did not make a difference. Otherwise, there does not appear to be any leakage. The coffee is not too hot, which is a plus for me. Setup was pretty easy, actually. I also wish that the water reservoir was removable, but this is an inexpensive unit. All in all, it is a pretty basic coffee maker and does the job in a very simple fashion.

The first unit I received had a broken lid hinge. I suspect it was a transportation issue. It was very cold outside and plastic gets brittle. Also, it wasn't inside an outer box like most stuff from Amazon. I returned the unit for credit on a new one. The new one came promptly and WAS inside another box. It is in great shape and makes great coffee for a drip model. I like that the top lid locks in place. Also, the switch is a real switch and isn't the electronic type that turns off after on hour or so. I have already forgotten to turn it off overnight and it ran dry but I will gladly put up with that just so I can have a hot cup waiting for me. After a month I judge this to be a champion basic coffee maker.

Purchased as a gift for my brother and he was happy. Didn't take up a lot of counter space while making lots of brewed coffee (I think 12 cups). He read all of the instructions on how to prepare the coffee pot for use and made coffee the next morning and everyone was happy. Great buy for the price and will use this vendor again. Easy to clean and brewed coffee was hot.

Works well when making 8 cups or less. When making a full pot (12 cups) the water flows with so much force that grounds overflow into the carafe. I make very mild coffee so I am sure I am not over filling the filter. Works well enough for the price, just watch for grounds when making a full pot.

Coffee pot only lasted about a year. This morning, I noticed something weird. The switch was on, the coffee was hot, but the light was off. The button got jammed and now the coffee pot won't turn off or on... So while it's cheap, it doesn't have longevity.... Don't recommend unless you are okay replacing it once a year. Fyi... Warranty isn't a year either...

I've owned fancy coffee making machines with confusing displays at a high cost and will never go back. These simple Black+Decker coffee machines are perfect. They're also durable and don't have the malfunctioning problems like these "fancy" coffee machines that are over-designed with technological components that fail far too soon. I've seen these simple coffee machines last longer than the Keurig's and Cusinart machines in office spaces where multiple people have to operate the machine to make their coffee. The price is dirt cheap but you get an old school reliable coffee making machine that not only does the job perfectly every time, but is simple to operate and lasts. I not only highly recommend this product but also the Black+Decker coffee grinder as well. Imagine spending $200 on a Cuisinart coffee machine that doesn't even burr your coffee beans, but then you could buy this coffee machine and their coffee grinder and pay less than half the price and less hassle. I swear by this coffee machine and highly recommend it.

This coffee maker is exactly what I was looking for. I don’t need fancy features like a timer or programmable settings. Just add a paper filter, ground coffee, water, and flip the switch. That’s it!
