I recently purchased the 2024 RAINPOINT Sprinkler Timer (metal version), and I couldn't be more impressed! Setup was quick and intuitive, thanks to the large, easy-to-read LCD display that clearly shows all the important details—watering time, frequency, and even battery level. The metal construction feels extremely durable, and the brass swivel inlet ensures a tight, leak-free connection. One of my favorite features is the rain delay option, which automatically pauses watering for up to 72 hours when rain is forecasted—great for conserving water and protecting plants from overwatering. The manual mode is equally handy for those spur-of-the-moment watering needs, and it doesn’t interfere with the programmed schedule. I also appreciate the low-battery alert, which helps prevent any surprise interruptions. It’s reassuring to know the valve closes automatically if the battery runs low. After a few weeks of use, my garden has never looked better, and I spend far less time managing it. At under $35, this is an excellent value—reliable, efficient, and built to last. Highly recommend for any home gardener looking to automate their watering routine!

If you don’t have underground sprinkling, if you need something on a timer. This is what you need. I love this thing.

This worked really well and was easy to program. It didn’t leak and fit our garden hose to our orchard perfectly. However, it’s been a year of use and the manual button no longer works. Plus the time is 8 hours behind but we can no longer set the time. We replaced the batteries to see if that’s why it wasn’t working but no dice. We had purchased two, one for the orchard and one for the garden for a trip and ended up putting the garden one in for the orchard since they trip was a year ago and we manually turn on garden water now. Hopefully it’s a faulty one although I suppose $30 for an auto water system for a year is ok? Not sure if I’d buy again for longevity but worked decently for the 15 months we used it.

Update: customer service reached out to me quickly after I wrote this review, offering to send me a new more durable device, free of charge. I haven’t installed it yet, as the sun will likely damage the new one as well but I didn’t have issues with the timer itself prior to it breaking. Any company willing to reach out on their own to ensure a happy customer is worth praising! Just 3 days after the return window closed (so we had it for just about 1 month), I found the timer cracked. It’s very apparent that it was heat related, and as most residential hose spouts do - the side of the house gets a lot of sun. This area isn’t accessible, so there’s nothing and no one who could’ve physically damaged it. What a waste of money!

Easy to install and setup, works exactly as expected. I've been using this timer to water my herb garden for over a year now. The only critique I have is that I had the unit fail, leaking water through, however Rainpoint stood by their product and replaced it with no hassle, so I can say they have excellent customer service. Remember to check the batteries!

I went through the procedure to activate the device. Then I tried a test by turning on the water a little and got soaked. It had to be returned. UPDATE: the company that sells this sprinkler controller, reissued me another unit and we are very pleased with the results. I am thankful for their fantastic commitment to customer service and the belief they have in this wonderful product.

This time stopped worked in less than a couple of weeks of actual use. The Rainpoint webpage gives a 404 Error for the support page - so it is no longer functioning. Don’t buy this!

The instructions, build quality and longevity is why we decided to purchase additional units from this manufacturer. The first step is to follow the instructions. Testing the check valve as detailed not only in the instructions but additionally on the outside of the box should give one an idea of the importance of this step. The build quality is top notch. From the brass connector to the super tight battery housing and tight switches...previous units have held up for over two years in the hot Louisiana sun. The battery life is off the charts. Setup is uncomplicated and easy. The quality of the washers and filter also have stood the test of time. I am sure there will always be a 1% failure rate on production like all things, but the ones we have that have been used from new to three years in the hot tropical climate have been 100%.
