I had been hearing about the release of this amp from various forums and decided to experiment with it with a couple of speakers that I have acquired I’ve the last 6 years I or so. I’m a bargain hunter at heart. On one end, I have a pair of Klipsch LaScala’s from the early 1980’s that I resurrected from the dead. They were in horrible shape and came from a church that used them as their auditorium PA. They are know for their efficiency and usually have synergies with tube amps. On the other end, I have the electrostatic Martin Logan ESL’s, which sound completely different, are very detailed and have a reputation of being challenging to drive, although the newer Martin Logan’s don’t have this problem as much. I have been using a 90 watt per channel tube integrated amp and was really looking for an amp that was much cleaner and imparted less distortion, which a tube amp for the most part is built to do. The tube amp sounds great but it seems to blur the sound a bit, if that makes sense. With the LaScala’s, the V3 power was way more needed to drive them. It didn’t sound harsh or brittle and in fact, was completely quiet with the volume knob maxed. My tube amp imparts a slight hiss at the tweeter that is audible from my sitting position. The V3, checked all the boxes and did everything well. The highs and mids were nice and balanced and the biggest difference was with the low end. I have 2 SVS SB1000 subs and the V3 really provided nice and controlled texture to the bass region, something that was lacking in my tube amp. I won’t go as far as using the magical language to describe the sound that many audiophiles use but as this is a subjective review, what I can say is that the amp did its job and at this price, it really is a no-brainer for people that even are wanting to use this will quality speakers. Martin Logan ESL’s Challenge: These speakers are known to have dynamic impedance swings, with ohms that often dip, making them a tough act for many amplifiers. But the Fosi V3 didn’t strain at all. It provided consistent power, ensuring the ESL’s remained articulate and expressive. Much better than my tube integrated. The dips in ohms which could cause some amplifiers to falter, only showcased the stability of the V3. Very surprising for the low cost. Again, what can I say…these small inexpensive amps have improved to the point where they are an incredible value. Conclusion: The Fosi Audio V3 isn’t just a budget amplifier. It’s an amplifier that can be used with expensive speakers. For anyone hesitant to use the Fosi in similar use cases, give it a try. For the price, there’s very little to lose.

Don't believe the 300 watt claims of the manufacturer. (I don't know why they just don't rate the amp with RMS real world specs). Still the Fosi Audio V3 is an excellent amplifier when paired with the optional 48V power supply, although it increases the cost. With the supplied stock power supply, the amp can deliver about 30 watts of real power and with the 48V power supply it can deliver about 80 watts of unadulterated bliss. The sound is clean with absolutely no hiss. You can tailor the sound by easily replacing the socketed OpAmps inside the amp, just make sure you insert them with the proper polarity. OpAmps can range from several to over a hundred dollars for a set. Better OpAMps can give you better depth and a wider sound stage as well as a mellower sound. Remember this is a no frills amplifier with only pair of inputs, it is basically a volume knob and nothing else. But this is perfect when used as a desktop amplifier to drive a pair of desktop speakers. In this mode of operation, you do not need the optional power supply since most desktop speakers are quite efficient and do not need much power. The 48V provides a more heft to the sound with the added power. It can easily deliver enough power to drive most speakers. With either power supply, the amp seems capable of driving even 4-ohm loads without distortion which most modern amps fail to do. Some Pros: * Cheap but great value * Compact size * Very efficient * Swappable OpAmps * High quality components: Elna capacitors, WIMA Output capacitors, Sumida inductors and NCC Capacitors Some cons: * Fosi used to supply the amp with the copper volume knob as well as the black one but it is now an added option. * The amp goes to sleep rather quickly after the input signal is cut. It takes about six seconds for it to come alive when signal is restored. * There is only one pair of RCA inputs * No Bluetooth capability * No subwoofer output

I don’t know if burning the V3 in would change my perception but I used more than 72 hours. This amp has the precision to make a great home studio monitor amp. Plenty of detail but lacking in warmth or low end. A subwoofer would be mandatory. I’m comparing this to a goodwill find Denon DRA 397. The clarity is similar with the Fosi punching harder in high mids and although having stellar detail it doesn’t have a warm smooth side. With the supplied 32V power supply it doesn’t get even close as loud as the Denon. It’s loud but only with knob all the way up. I see this as an amp useful for my small home studio projects, but not the most pleasing choice for day to day enjoyment. Update: I’m now using this in a bi-amp situation to power my Paradigm Titanium tweeters and an Emotiva A2 mini to power my Heco woofers. After upgrading the Fosi with Sparkos op-amps the high end is STUNNING. Silky smooth highs with all the transparency and air these tweeters could ever produce. Blended with the other amp and woofers I’m getting results that blow away anything in the price range of what I spent, or have ever spent. I’ve used everything from vintage Kenwood to a ‘90s Music Hall amp. (I suppose the MH could outclass the Emotiva technically, but I’m not hearing it). This combination is simply amazing. If you’re only using the Fosi I highly recommend you upgrade to the Sparkos op-amps. That’s my ears talking, not relying on some bench test graphs that might imply they don’t change anything. They might not change output measurements but they sure change the quality of what you hear. That’s my 5 decades of listening speaking, including 4 in music production.

I’ve spent some time with the Fosi Audio V3 paired with the 36V stock power supply, and while it’s an impressive performer for the price, it’s clear that this amp is capable of more - and deserves more. Out of the box, the V3 offers solid clarity, good soundstage, and tight control over the low end. It’s a clean, neutral-sounding amp with plenty of detail, and it drives efficient speakers well at moderate volumes. But there’s a noticeable ceiling on dynamics and fullness when using the 36V supply. The sound lacks a bit of headroom and warmth - especially if you’re coming from a more musical amp like a Tripath-based model or something with a bit more current behind it. After hearing what others have experienced with the 48V power supply, I’m convinced that’s the way to go. Users consistently report more impact, better bass, improved dynamics, and a general liveliness that the 36V setup just doesn’t deliver. Yes, the 48V supply costs extra - sometimes as much as the amp itself - but in this case, the upgrade is absolutely worth it if you want the V3 to perform at its full potential. If you’re budget-conscious, the 36V setup still makes a fine minimalist rig for desktops or secondary systems. But if you’re chasing performance and musicality, bite the bullet and get the 48V supply. This little amp punches way above its weight - when you feed it right.

I've been using this amp for a little over a month with my desktop PC and audio interface. Sounds good and clean. Simple, small, and nicely built. Plenty of power with the included PSU. It's powering a pair of old Klipsch KG .5's (50 watts RMS, 90 dB sensitivity, 60Hz-20kHz). I usually keep the volume around 10 or 11 o'clock at most, which is plenty loud in my small room. Don't think I've ever turned it past halfway. That leaves plenty of headroom in my case. I tested the noise floor by turning the volume to max while nothing was playing and heard absolutely zero hiss. Very impressive. My only complaints are the lack of a true sub pre-out and the light thumping noise it makes when turned on. Otherwise this is an awesome amp and I'm impressed with how far Class D has come. It's a killer deal for the price.

OMG. I've been a making music for more 20 years, I was a mastering engineer for 10 years, and I designed and built speakers as well as studio. This little amp really really impressed me. That's a fantastic amp at any price range. The snares are tight, distortion is incredibly low. It makes my EKTA Mkii sing.

I was in the pro audio industry for 40 years and since I retired have built a quite few DIY preamps, amplifiers and headphone amps, my favorites being mostly Pass Labs circuit designs gifted to the DIY community. I got the Fosi V3 after reading about it on the Audio Science Review Forum. I know from experience that a clean design can reveal subtle differences in opamps at the front end, so the socketed ICs really appealed to me. Out of the box this amp sounded pretty good, perhaps a bit "hard" but still quite acceptable with nothing exaggerated. I've participated in some opamp "shootouts" and evaluated well over a dozen different opamps in both the Pass M2X amp and the Colburn Whammy headphone amp. So when I swapped out the stock NE5532P opamps for some OPA1612A devices (my favorite opamp) I got a big smile of satisfaction. Smooth and musical. Pretty good for class D! The swap out is not totally intuitive. Remove the rear and bottom screws and the amp card will slide out just enough to access the IC sockets. Unfortunately the sockets are very tight, requiring a lot of careful and gentle rocking and tugging on the original chips to work them free. There are some extraction tools available but I didn't have one. Maybe Fosi, if you are reading this, could include one as a bonus in the future. One drawback to the OPA1612A is that it is only available in the SOIC SMD package. So it requires being soldered to a SOIC to DIP adapter board. A fine tip, temp controlled solder station and optical magnifier are pretty much necessities. There are caps crowding the IC sockets so either adapters with the same footprint as the socket or a larger adapter stacked on an empty socket to get it just above the caps is required. I went the later route. There are plenty of 8 pin DIP ICs, not requiring adapters, that sound good to my ears and might outperform the NE5532P. The RC4580 is a bipolar input opamp that has a following, along with the LM833N which has its fans. You could try the OPA1656ID or the OPA2134PA, both very good FET input opamps. Unfortunately there isn't any room in the chassis for a discreet opamp like the Burson V6 Classic but then you would be installing an opamp that costs almost as much as the V3 amplifier itself.

If you pair this amp (which is the size of your palm) with a Chromecast Audio, (not even the size of a sand dollar) and then, oh, say, an old, much-loved pair of NHT Super Zeroes... ...you're going to be very, very happy for the following reasons: It's three components with clean sound. They're so tiny and easy to hook up, they're beach-week portable. None of them look portable. They don't ruin the room. A guest might not notice them until they're played. The sound for the cost is absurd. A renewed Chromecast Audio is currently 45, the Fosi V3 is 80, and Those Speakers You Still Have are sitting unused. It's great for podcasts. Not good. Great. It's a small room joy for music. Any kind, I'm not kidding. And you're only using this in a small room. A sideboard in a bedroom. That kind of thing. Because you're not caught up with What Else Can It Do. Which is the root of all unhappiness. Those two previous items are important, because it means YOU DON'T HAVE TO UPGRADE THE POWER SUPPLY, or pretend this is 300 watts a channel, or watch a Dune-length video insisting it's only 50 watts per channel, therefore... No. Stop. It gets Divorce Loud with what comes standard. While sounding clean. If it doesn't sound clean, that's your speakers, not this amp. Get something small and sleek and cheap from Q Acoustics, Jamo, Kanto, Micca, or NHT. Because you want to be happy, right? Buy this amp.

Ho acquistato il Fosi Audio V3 con molta curiosità dopo aver provato diversi amplificatori di classe D (tra cui Aijima) sono rimasto colpito sin dal dal primo ascolto. Sono un appassionato hifi da circa 35 anni, utilizzo anche amplificatori Mc Hintosh, ma ero davvero curioso di provare un oggetto così piccolo ed economico un grado di mettere in discussione le convinzioni dell'audiofilo più conservatore. Stiamo parlando infatti di un amplificatore senza fronzoli e colorazioni, con la sola manopola del volume, ma che assolve egregiamente al suo compito: SUONARE BENE! Naturalmente il tutto va inserito in un contesto adeguato che ritengo sia essere un ambiente di piccole o medie dimensioni oppure, come nel mio caso, un sistema audio da PC con monitor. Ho realizzato un impianto con il DAC Topping E50, Fosi Audio V3 e le ottime Cabasse Surf (piccole ma testarde con un efficenza di 85 Db su 8 Ohm) devo dire che sono più che soddisfatto del risultato ottenuto, testato con diversi generi musicali il suono risulta abbastanza lineare ma non privo di dettagli e dinamica; bassi rotondi e mai invadenti, alti molto dettagliati e puliti, le voci che spiccano per naturalezza. Insomma un piccolo gioiello che sicuramente vale molto più di quello che costa e che ti lascerà a bocca aperta ! Riguardo la potenza dichiarata di 300 W per canale va considerata con un alimentatore da 48V 10A per un impedenza di 4 Ohm, nella maggior parte dei casi invece, ovvero con l'alimentatore di serie da 32V 5A, tiriamo fuori una potenza di circa 50-65 W rms per canale su 8 Ohm, una potenza di tutto rispetto soprattutto perchè priva di distorsioni al massimo volume. La manopola del volume ha un controllo di tipo logaritmico, per cui bisogna girare parecchio prima di avere un buon volume di ascolto ma non abbiate paura di farlo; il grosso della potenza è nascosto nella parte finale. Sulla componentistica interna vi rimando ad altre recensioni più dettagliate, ma sicuramente l'ottimo TPA3255 (già presente su Aijima A07 e Fosi Audio BT20A) assieme ai celeberrimi Op amp NE5532 costituiscono ormai un abbinamento collaudato, ma il Fosi Audio V3 si differenza dai suoi rivali per l'utilizzo di una componentistica interna di alta qualità, in particolare condensatori ed induttori Giapponesi e Tedeschi. (potete trovare ulteriori dettagli sul sito ufficiale) e vi assicuro che la differenza con gli altri amplificatori si sente, e si sente davvero bene:) Degno di nota anche l'originale sistema di dissipazione del calore posto al di sotto del chip e collegato a tutto lo chassis; un sistema davvero molto efficiente che difficilmente manderà l'amplificatore in protezione. Molto interessante inoltre la possibilità di sostituire gli Op amp con un altro modello, sul sito Fosi Audio potete trovare alcuni consigli tra cui gli Sparkos SS3602, MUSES02, OPA2604AP, OPA2134PA ecc... (la lista è davvero lunga) facilmente sostituibili perchè gli NE5532 sono montati ad incastro su un adattatore DIP8. Personalmente, preso dall'entusiasmo del nuovo prodotto, sto testando il Fosi AUdio V3 con i nuovi Op amp ORACLE II-02, il risultato è davvero entusiasmante, ne scaturisce un suono non migliore di quello prodotto dagli NE5532, ma sicuramente diverso, più caldo, molto più simile agli amplificatori tradizionali o, se preferite, ad un valvolare. Insomma il Fosi Audio V3 rappresenta davvero un grande balzo in avanti per l'azienza sperando che continui su questa strada; un prodotto chenon ha paragoni nella sua fascia di prezzo e che per come suona vale almeno 5 volte di più. STRACONSIGLIATO !!!

The Fosi V3 Stereo Amplifiers are the most value of money stereo amplifiers available in the market right now. I was thinking of going for a Class AB Analog with Toroidal Setup, but this is much better in terms of efficiency, small footprint, ease of use, and output - Crystal Clear, lot of power for 6-8 ohms drivers. Both of them run at 32V 10A Power Supply and can get plenty loud without too much load dependency (Peaking) in my use case. This can be a true workhorse if you're using a dedicated 42V PSU. These can run all day without any hassle. Class D with a good implementation looks like this. Only missing PFFB which is available in the Mono Version which eliminates the load dependency issue.
