Hello. Was this easy to fit please? Do you have to take the top of the machine off to get at the inner lock? I'm quite handy but no expert!

Yes, you need to take the top off the machine, is isolate the machine from the electricity supply before you go any further. Then remove the fixings for the control display (and unclip it and put it on top of the drum out of the way), the remove the front panel fixing screws, and the 4 screws that hold the front panel to the drum front (these are inside the door aperture). slightly pull the side panels away from the front panel (there are a couple of plastic locating lugs on each side). Then carefully pull the top edge of the front panel away. This gives you just enough room to get your hand in and disconnect the wiring connections. The interlock snaps out of place if you pull the back of the interlock away from the front of the machine. Assembly is as above in reverse order.

Affordable replacement

Relatively Simple DIY fix

Update: Just reduced to 4 stars as the new catch has popped out of the holding slot after just 5 days of use. Now having to add some contact glue in the hope of keeping it in place. Maybe I'm just unlucky! Old part had a broken spring, so took a chance on this at under £9. Fairly simple to swap out once you have removed the top and control panel, although as my arms and hands are on the large side I also had to unfasten the front panel to get into the part. Remember to take some quick photos of the wiring if you have to unplug any, which is likely as Indesit dont leave a lot of slack! once all thats done the hardest bit is getting the old part out, as its junk I would suggest rotating it to save time. Took me about 35 mins start to finish and I'm no pro. These are fairly simple parts so I am not expecting there to be any issues with longevity.

Value for money

Price £12.49. Other well known suppliers of spare parts, prices range the from £26 to £46. Delivered and fitted within 24 hours. Tumble dryer now working. If you are replacing the switch in an Indesit IDV 75 ignore u-tube. You will have to remove the top and side panel. Lots of screws, including those under the side panel. Even then it is extremely fiddely manoeuvring the new switch into place.
