Katy When Katy falls off her swing and breaks her spine, her whole life is turned topsy-turvy... Before her accident, Katy and her step-mother weren’t exactly the best of friends, but the accident means that Izzie (Katy’s step-mother) has to give up her job, and both of them being at home all day helps each of them to more friendly towards each other. When Katy goes back to school, which is not very nice at the beginning because she has to use a wheel chair because her legs are paralysed, but then in a PE lesson she gets a chance to do sports in her wheel chair, and she realises that everything isn’t so bad after all... If you have read What Katy did, then you will enjoy Katy a lot. Katy is very similar to What Katy did, but Katy is based in our time. Both books are similar but different at the same time e.g. In What Katy did it’s cousin Helen that comes to visit, but in Katy it’s Helen; one of their dad’s patients. The main character is Katy, she is an adventurous and lively 11 year old who lives with her father, her step-mother, and her 5 brothers and sisters: Clover, Elsie, Dorry, Jonnie, and Phil. I think you should read Katy because it’s an interesting and exciting novel, full of happiness, and sadness. I could not stop reading Katy because I always wanting to know what happens next. I recommend if you want to read Katy you should read What Katy did either after or before. I was counting down the days until Katy came out because I really love the author: Jacqueline Wilson’s books (I have read all of her books!) and because I had read Katy because I have read What Katy did and was looking forward to find out about Katy. Jacqueline Wilson has written over a hundred books! I really like her books because they are: happy, sad, exciting, and interesting. I hope you will read Katy and enjoy it like I did!

I originally read this book when I was 12 and now I’m 22, I read this book so much that it’s practically fallen apart. It’s really inspired me to go to art college, I’ve always wanted to lean towards more adult art (like dexter who’s 26.) and he’s kinda inspired me to follow his path.

This book was a spin off from what Katy did but was a much easer read in respects, when boisterous tomboy Katy learns how to live when your not normal. It starts as a sad story about hers and her little sister clovers mum who got unwell and died and a hatred of Izzy the step mum and the hardships of coping with younger siblings. She grows to telling about her school life her closet friend and her deadly enemy cecy and Eva and the boy who she competes for with her enemy Eva, Ryan. However she is left on her own due to her behaviour she falls and breaks her back and the question in my mind was will she cope? This book follows her life tales and how she manages. I doubt she would of without Helen her friend whom who had first hand knowledge in how she felt and although it is not such a happy ending it is a lot more realistic than her getting up and walking again By the way this is the person who read it This is not my account 😊😉

Katy is AMAZING and it was such a joy to read it and to think about how hard it is to be disabled people and how you should look after them so I would like to recommend this book to everyone who loves to read 😀😀😀😀

Really touching book - an actual tear jerker in our house. Covers the main character Katy’s final days at primary school and first term at secondary school so is a great book for year 6 children (10 and 11 year olds) to read or listen to. The story is a reworking of What Katy Did which updates the original story cleverly, retaining the charm of the original but bringing more realism to Katy’s disability. Gives the game away about who fills stockings so not for children who believe in Father Christmas.

I absolutely love this book from the moment I got it I didn't take my eyes of it I read it at school,home even in the car.It is about a young 11 year old girl called Katy whose mum died when she was young so she has a stepmother called Izzie .Shes always getting into mischief and one day she has terrible accident ... I'm only halfway through this fantastic book and i'm already loving it . I have never read the original version but I know the author (Jacqueline Wilson ) has . Even though I am younger then 12 I would recommend it for this age as it has a lot of depressing moments in it. Why I gave this a 5 star rating? It is humerus. It is interesting.You cant stop when your reading .Also I would say it takes a weeks time to read . So if you decide to buy this book then You wont regret it.

Once I started reading this book, I simply couldn't stop! I'd read for hours and hours every day and I wouldn't leave my Kindle alone at all! Katy's accident was so unexpected and heartbreaking but I really loved the way she managed to cope with her disability, especially at school. I felt so sorry for her when the news was first revealed that Katy had broken her back and I could almost feel her pain but without Helen's help Katy would have never been so brave and courageous. I also loved how Katy began making friends with her onced hated sister, Elsie. This is truly such a lovely story and I recommend it to everyone. Jacqueline Wilson did a fantastic modern version of 'What Katy Did' by Susan Coolidge and should be very proud of herself!

I chose this rating because I find this book gives me the power to experience and understand how some can feel and cope I like it because it helps me to read more because I love reading good novels but what Katy did bores me a little so this book really !helped me! It brought tears to my eyes for feeling sorry for Katy but looking up to her bravery at the same time! It is such a fantastic book and I think Jacqueline Wilson puts exactly the right pieces of the book to form a perfect book! It also gives me a chance to relate to Katy and become part of the story understand the story, and really get into the book recommended to 9-13

The start made me feel like “Oh my days, why is Katy so annoying - messing around making pancakes and stuff?” And then midway through during her recovery and HS and Izzie being nice to her, it was so touching, and it made me so intrigued to know more. The end was fabulous. It turned out that even a disabled girl/boy could do such wonderful things. I really like this book and What Katy Did (original). These books have to be worldwide and everyone should read these marvellous masterpieces of books.

The book is exciting and adicctive but its VERY sad I nearly cried :, ( I recomend it for old children or even teenagers. Age from : 10 +

I love this book! I like Katy a lot and her siblings too. I also love how she learns to cope with being in a wheelchair. This is particularly hard because she loves skateboarding/basketball/running etc. I would reccomend this to 8 - 15 yr olds. Its also good because the originall book may be a bit old fashioned so kids cant understand the words, but this uses relatively easy words so they can enjoy a classic in easier and a less intimidating format. ***** stars

omg this is one of the best heart touching books i have ever read by Jacqueline Wilson. i loved it a lot. its worth buying this book.!!!
