These are great for a few keys and an ID card. Definitely worth the convenience. Hooked to my belt loop the line extends far enough to reach a locked door knob and open it easily without digging in my pocket while my hands are full. I have ordered others in the past that were more expensive, but also heavier duty. The retractable line is roughly 2ft long with a steel core and the casing is durable plastic with a metal clip. At about half the price of other brands, you get 2 of these. I figured it was worth a try. If you use something like this regularly, you already know these items are prone to wear and need to be replaced. As an industrial mechanic who works on heavy machinery, I use a retractable key ring to carry access badges and keys daily. They typically last around 2 years before the cable shows signs of fraying or the retractor fails or gets jammed.

Solid construction. An issue with "other" badge holders is that the spin wheel is weak and breaks easily due to the metal braided wire being too heavy. However THIS badge holder has a very strong spin wheel!! The belt clip is also strong. I don't get the feeling that this is going to give out anytime soon. It should be noted that if you are fragile/weak in hand strength, you might not like this one so much. It's not hard to pull by any means, but it's also not like pulling thread over ice. It needs to have the resistance that it has though, or else it would break due to the metal wire. Should I go through these two, I will most likely be buying another set. These are very nice.

I got this for my work keys since I have to unlock a lock door and got tired of having to find my keys or unhook my keys from my belt. I was iffy about the hook since it looks kind of think but so far so good. Maybe it's my lack of strength but the opening does take some really pushing to get the latch to push back to unhook. It's advertised as heavy duty do I guess that's the whole reason for it being harder to push back. I do worry for the ID badge look. I hope it'll last in the long run but time will tell. Will update if anything changes sooner than later.

This is an S Tier badge reel for sure! Bought this in January 2025 (currently April 2026) and it holds strong. Compared to other badge reels that my coworkers have, the steel cable sticks together better than the cheapo ones with just the string. Save the hassle and potential of losing your valuables by buying this, and you will thank me later 😁

It’s not too light weight but I like it a lot. Works really well.

Work great to hold my ID card, strong and heavy duty, color is preferred not flashy, weight is prefect doesn’t weight down my pants like others

If you are using this for an occasional swipe of a card, its probably going to be just fine. If you use it like I do, 100 swipes a day at least (busy restaurant), its going to give you problems. They've added a coating to the wire that tears and bunches up after repeated use, causing it to stick with cord hanging or stick inside sonyiu can't pull it out. I had to pull it all the way out, strip the coating off and then add a silicone lubricant to the wire. Works good now and doesn't stick.
