Review: Good historical stuff... - As a descendant of a Polish flyer from WW2 my father and I often talked about this time period in the "rest" of Europe while we were messing around in the UK with powdered wigs and so on. This was a desperate time in the SE of Europe and this story and 2 other associated tales depict what might have happened if the Turks had got to the rest of Europe if they had got past Vienna. Apart from that, a good price and very speedy delivery considering from whence it came. Thanks Review: Confusing details about this DVD - A pity that the details for this were rather confusing, the DVD being advertised as Region: Whole World, but actually it is Region 1 only, So, as I want to see the last part of a very good trilogy, I have kept it and watched it via the PC! Not ideal but at least it is available., The film, obviously the oldest of the trilogy, is OK, just wish that there was a better copy available

Historical adventure
This is a good piece of entertainment, which I enjoyed when I watched it. But when I was through, I found myself wondering at the plot. I am not going to spoil the plot, but I did not understand the ending (not in a Usual Suspects, admiring the complexity, sort of way, but in a "why" sort of way). And when I thought about it, it occurred to me that, because this film is condensed from a TV series, a lot of the plot is missing, and so the actions of the characters remain unmotivated. The quality of the print is also sometimes noticeably poor. Having said that, it is a good costume adventure, with heroic heroes and villainous villains. It is subtitled from Polish.

Aufwendig gedrehter Historienfim
Ich kann die DVD nur empfehlen, auch die anderen Teile der Trilogie. Leider gibt es diese DVD nur auf polnisch, ist aber kein Problem, wenn man das Buch dazu gelesen hat.

Pretty intense!
Once you watch "Potop" AKA "The Deluge", you might get hooked on Polish Historic Epics. This one doesn't disappoint. It gives us a huge dose of Pan Wolodyjowski, a delightful character. The dueling and horsemanship aren't as strong as Potop perhaps. But the storyline is intense.

Hooray for Hussars!
I found it interesting and I enjoyed it, but you might want to be Polish or be a fan of Polish Lithuanian history before buying it yourself. It is not a mass market sort of production that it was well done and supported finely.
