Secrets to Feeding Dogs for Optimum Cellular Health and Longevity Revealed in Groundbreaking New Book Vibrant health begins in the cells. Learn how to transform your dog's cellular health with the power of nutrigenomics in this ground-breaking new book. Nutrigenomics (a combination of the words nutrition and genome) is the study of how the foods we and our pets eat "speak" to our cells to regulate gene expression, which in turn plays a huge role in determining whether a person or animal will live a life of vibrant health, or one plagued by illness. Scientists now know that while we can't change the genes we are born with, we can change how those genes behave, which is exactly what authors W. Jean Dodds, DVM and Diana Laverdure show us how to do in their newest book, Canine Nutrigenomics: The New Science of Feeding Your Dog for Optimum Health from Dogwise Publishing. Read Canine Nutrigenomics and discover: How to tell which foods create optimum gene expression and vibrant health at the cellular level and which foods lead to chronic disease. The amazing healing power of functional foods. The "Three Keys" to easily creating a foundation diet for your dog based on the principles of nutrigenomics. How to use functional ingredients to treat, manage and even reverse a wide variety of chronic canine health conditions. The 10 "canine functional superfoods" and how they can supercharge your dog's health by optimizing his gene expression. The signs of a food intolerance/sensitivity and how to stop it in its tracks. And much more! You can't change your dog's genes, but you can change how those genes behave when you read Canine Nutrigenomics: The New Science of Feeding Your Dog for Optimum Health! Your dog's diet "speaks" to his cells! Nutrigenomics is the new science of how diet affects gene expression at the cellular level, creating vibrant health or chronic disease. Optimum health begins in the cells-and this book shows you how to achieve it for your dog! Review: The goto book of 21st century... - If there is a book for dog parents to really want to do what is best by their dog, this is it. It is backed up with real research data. It is understandable and is massively knowledgeable. So, even if you have a vet that is old school trained and does not understand what your asking, this is the knowledge for them too. Feeding your dog healthy for longevity is all in here, including breeding and health issues. Hopefully dogs will be living longer in the near future, I'm a passionate dog owner who wants best for our beloved companions and I've learned a lot from reading this. Having a dog with food intolerance and weak immune, I already knew certain information but this book has been thoroughly put together and has helped us. Review: This is the book to change your dog's health! - I rarely write reviews, so this shows how impressed I am with this book! I have a biochemistry degree so loved the fact the book is based on good, solid science and research. However, it's also very easy to read. Although I deal with the health of people, and see how changing diet changes health on a daily basis, I was less confident about what was needed for a dog's diet. This book has exactly that information. If your dog has any health issues ... or has yet to develop them, I thoroughly recommend this to open your eyes to what you're feeding your dog now and to do better for the future. The majority of dog's health problems, as with people, comes from diet.

Fantastic, Best move I made for my dog and for me!!
I'm not one for leaving feedback but I think this book really does deserve it. For the past year my dog has had so many health problems and its been nothing but trips back and forth to the vets which has been costing me a fortune and nothing but stress for my dog. I wanted to look at improving my dogs health with a new diet and came across this book, which has helped me understand my dogs condition IBD. Its taken the vets nearly a year to work out what was wrong with my dog and with the help of this book I have learned more about his condition, What is actually in shop bought dog food and has helped me put him on a better diet and I have seen such brilliant results. I have one happy and healthy dog.

WOW Thought I was an experienced raw food feeder but have learned so much from this book. It's excellent
What a book! Excellent information and well written. Although I will need to read it several times, from first reading I have enough information to change my dogs diet for the better. On second time reading, the more technical parts are sinking in. It's one of those books you will keep going back to without being bored.

Brilliant
This is a must have for professional, student and pet lovers. It is well written a good balance for those with a science background and those who don't. It gives you all the info you need, about raw and commercial pet foods. It allows you to make your own mind up. I am pleased purchased this.

Excellent Publication
A brilliant book. Pretty scientific so not for the faint- hearted, but absolutely fascinating. Thought I was doing the best for my dogs but will never feed the same rubbish again. Shocking, the harmful effects of some commercial dog foods.

Missleading Title - dubious references, very poorly done Ms Dodd!
I'm genuinely puzzled by this book and even more puzzled by it's positive reviews. I was referred to this title as an additional reading suggestion for a canine nutrition study assignment. The first thing I did was look up the definition of Nutrigenomics (because I didn't know it), once I understood that I looked for findings in this field to help me understand the current status of this area of science. Here's what I found the field of scientific research into Nutrigenomics is in it's infancy. Think about it - truely functional nutrition applicable to the individual is a long way off. This is in human research so is even further off in canine terms. This field is fascinating and promises much in uniquely tailored medicine as well as nutrition, but much is still unknown. The authors repeatedly frame their dietry recommendations under a 'Nutrigenomic' framework implying that the answers are already here in relation to canine nutrition. This just isn't the case. PLEASE CHECK the references, some are purely to talks or articles made by Jean Dodds this is not proper evidence based referencing, this is making a statement and then backing that statement with 'because I said so'! The extracts specifically referencing scientific commentary on Nutrigenomics and animal health speak to the potential of the field and it's possible future impact on comapnion animal nutrition. They do not support the specific dietry recommendations made in the book despite the authors inferring that they do. There is nothing inherently wrong with much of the broader dietry advice given BUT it should not be presented as proven Nutrigenomicly functional foods as this research is yet to be done yet alone scientifically proven. This is very missleading. Some of the dietry advice is downright weird one grain of pollen per day for your dog anyone? (ah but that's from Joseph Mercola so that's OK then! Sunbed Scam anyone! Look him up folks) There are myths repeated in this patently unscientific work too, such as seasonal allergies such as hayfever can be cured by consuming locally produced honey. Another reference is to a book about Nutrigenomics for perfect younger skin. Really??!!! To be fair the authors term their recommendations the 'basal diet' so is a broad base for most dogs rather than an individually tailored one. This is a direct contradiction of what nutrigenomic functional nutrition is, or more accurately hopes to be! I'm amazed so many previous reveiwers refer to this being a science heavy publication. Unless their understanding of science is a large reference appendix? I do understand though why this book enjoys some popularity as in an ever confusing scene in relation to companion animal nutrition people are looking for answers. This book would seem at first glance to provide this but for the reasons given above I would seriously caution anyone relying on this as evidence based advice. For a much more balanced approach to these questions I would highly recommend Dog Food Logic by Linda P Case.

Very understandable but bit overwellming for begginers
A little bit overwellming for beginners, although is well cientifically documented, just a bit disapointed because is not so easy to count callories, specially if you are an amateur like me in this new world of natural and raw food for our dogs.

Clear, excellent, evidence-based guidance
Excellent book, and a much-needed addition to this field. It is clearly written, with heaps of information based on sound evidence and analysis of the latest research. There's so much opinion in the field of 'what you should feed your dog' and not enough unbiased, factual information has been available. Until now. The writers do an excellent job of laying out what is known and what the findings suggest, in an unbiased manner. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to check what I am doing now, and confirm where I was doing things right, as well as make notes about things that I will change, because I feed a home-based and primarily raw diet. Unlike too many others with extreme biases at either end of the spectrum (such as "you should only ever feed dogs a prey model diet! All commercial diets are poison! No, you should feed the best commercial cooked food! Raw will give your dogs diseases!" and so on) this book avoids the hysteria, and presents the facts and the evidence. A lot of what they have to say about many of the commercial kibble does not make for comfortable reading at all. But it does need to be known more widely. The best thing is that no matter what main diet you choose, they offer plenty of advice on what you can add/subtract/modify in order to offer your dog the best possible chance of good health, and explain why it matters and how it works. There is also much guidance on feeding for special conditions, including arthritis, diabetes or cancer. The only things that detracted a bit for me is that it is wholly USA based, so all brands mentioned are only those in the USA. Plus, I could have done with a bit less information on the lab test available, especially in a book. It felt a little bit like pushing one's own barrow and sat a bit uncomfortably for me - particularly since I'm in another far away country. But these gripes aside, brilliant book. One I'll reread several times, I suspect. I'm already recommending it to others and quoting bits.
