Fascinating and endearing
I watched this whole series when it was on first years ago. Loved it then and I bought the whole series to watch and was not disappointed.Very easy and thought provoking still.Hopefully some off the environmental issues in some of the episodes have been improved since this was made, such as crop spraying with dangerous chemicals etc.Hilly is my favourite character, her love for the environment and animals she rescues and cares for amazing.Pauline Collins and John Alderton are exceptionally great, as are all the stories and characters.I highly recommend this to watch if you loved the darling buds of may and the softness and love in both these series. Wonderful nostalgic viewing.

SO GOOD TO WATCH AGAIN!
Great seeing this series again, took me back to the late eighties when everything still seemed simpler and before the brink of all that the internet would come to do. Now everyone moves to the country but it was the noticeable start of it then. John Alderton is brilliant, a rounded character of right and sometimes wrong, and Pauline Collins too, they are believable and natural, in fact all the characters are very good and I recognise many younger actors in it, that I now see today. Looking at all the concern and marching re climate change now, this series was the first I remember starting to think about how we use the land, treat animals and care about what our children will inherit. The stories are good and it is such a shame they made so few. Watched them all again so soon. Fantastic to see it again, it's barely dated, get a cuppa or maybe some chocolate and curl up to just be ENTERTAINED with a bit of food for thought. So relaxing. I always loved the fabulous intro pictures and the music too - so very good to see it again!

Its still forever green.
I've read some other reviews which try to apply a modern, up-to date perspective on this series. "Dated" and "Slow Paced" seem to be a common theme. What the hell do people expect from a series first shown 30 years ago? Mobile phone zombies, lap tops, gender neutrality, car chases, shootings, stabbings and spectacular Hollywood style explosions? Sorry to disappoint, but no big Hollywood stars are in it.That should bring it up to date then. Enough of that. It was a great series then and it still is and the message it conveys regarding environmental issues are even more relevant today. I would have given it 5 stars but for the fact that it gives the average town or city dweller a very romantic idea that rural life is. Having lived in the countryside all my life I can say it really isn't like that. I wish it was .I don't know everyone where I live and they don't work in the area either. No one does and I live in one of the locations where Forever Green was filmed at the time, always have, always will. (the series was filmed in several locations from Buckinghamshire to Somerset and other places in between) Nice thought if it was filmed in just one place but film work is all illusion). But watch it for what it is. Its a refreshing change from watching the usual depressing weekday dross like EastEnders or Emmerdale that I wouldn't advise anyone to watch if they are feeling even slightly suicidal. Do bear in mind that the series was filmed in the screen format at the time. On a modern widescreen TV the picture WILL NOT fill your screen unless you have something the I don't know about.

Excellent series
A programme of excellent quality, written beautifully with wonderful storylines that deliver first class viewing entertainment. The cast containing the ever superb John Alderton and his tremendous wife Pauline Collins takes us through the adventures of the Boult family striving to cope with the asthmatic condition of their daughter Freddi, (Daisy Bates) and how their traumatic circumstances are transformed after some amazing news arrives that takes them on to a new life in the countryside and an adventure involving some truly magic moments. If you enjoy easy watching, quality storylines, whistful country life, and enjoyment from start to finish, then I recommend you buy this series, it's one of those first rate series you wish would never end. 18 brilliant episodes, worth every penny.

Forever Watchable
What a wonderful television series this was. Husband and wife team John Alderton and Pauline Collins are perfect as the leads and each episode draws you into the unfolding dramas that make this series highly watchable and enjoyable. If you are unaware of the story, it is about a family who move to the country to a house that was left to them by a woman who was nursed by Pauline Collins. The house is a rustic tumbled down cottage that they immediately fall in love with. In each episode the story unfolds and takes you on a journey of rustic charm and the problems surrounding life in the countryside. The acting is lovely and all the characters are believable and mostly likeable.A series to watch again and again.

Wonderful, heart warming and has beautiful scenery. Had never heard of this series in the US, so took a chance. BUY this!! Reminds me a little of "The Darling Buds of May". Same good-feel kind of series. And it is a great value.

Great show! So happy to have found the DVD set!
The DVD set of Forever Green was delivered early! It did require a special DVD player for Region 2, but it did state that in the description. The DVD player was ordered and the DVDโs play great! Thank you!

This series is a treasure
I love everything about this old British series. Well written, acted and filmed. It tells important things for us all to think about it for the good of our planet. It was worth getting an all region DVD player so we could watch it.
