TiVo VOX™ Remote for TiVo BOLT

Works great with a Tivo Bolt model that arrived from Tivo as a refurb unit with the previous generation remote control. I'm now using both remotes with the Tivo Bolt... old school has no voice button. This new model has the voice button and works great! Love it. No complaints! For those that are complaining about the voice feature, don't talk to your Tivo. I find the voice feature great for channel changing, as I haven't memorized all the numbers of the frequently watched channels (especially for the wife, like HGTV, TLC, Discovery, Fox News, BBC, etc.). I believe the Tivo voice feature is better than the Amazon Echo voice feature, as my Echo is always getting it wrong, but Tivo gets the simple words right. I do find the Amazon TV voice-enabled remote better than Echo and Tivo, as voice searches on Amazon TV set the gold standard. A few of the buttons on the new remote are slightly different than the previous generation, and it's definitely worth the upgrade. Subtle details, like the indent on the back button, so you can feel it and know that's the right button versus TV Input and other nearby options. Tivo, if you're reading this, please make a back-lit remote, and sell it online as the sequel to this remote.

One of my two Tivo Bolt remotes started acting up, so I replaced it with this since it was $10 less expensive when I ordered. The VR requires only an radio wave (not IR) connection on the Bolt devices, but it came with a USB cord and plug in device which they claim will make it work with the Romeo (sp?) Still the same great format as the regular remote, with a couple of extra buttons, like a Netflix button. Only slightly rearranged, so not too annoying. The VR works, but not perfectly. It froze my Tivo when I asked for Amazon, but worked with Prime Video--I haven't tried just asking for Amazon again. And it only works with some functions, so for example you can't ask it to go to standby--Tivo just wants to make it difficult for its customers to go to standby--something that should be a button! Anyway, I'd probably not buy this for the VR function, but if it's the same price or less than the regular remove, go for it!

WoW, Amazing, this remote was totaly worth the whole software upgrade (Tivo Experience) Not only can you say what show you want to watch but it will also bring up the channel. All you have to say is the Channel # or say what channel, HGTV or ESPN, etc. Pairing was easy and fast. If your that one person that has to write a negative review on setup, that means YOU did it wrong. I have had no issues with picture quality. Remember you must upgrade to the new Software first (which takes up to 3 days to do from the time of request), eventually it with come automatically, but for now you must request this with Tivo, It will not automatically happen. By the way none of the buttons are lighted, just like the old remotes, so don't be surprised. Don't worry you do not have to purchase new Tivo Boxes in order to use the new features, just upgrade the software and remote. The rewind and fast forward are also much faster now. Update 11/21/2017: Just activated my second remote, and it works flawlessly. Now moving on to the Mini's with the Remote with USB Dongle.

This remote is exactly as described and works very well however be warned, if you like your TIVO guide menu the classic way then you should buy the classic remote w/o voice recognition. This remote REQUIRES that you upgrade your settings to the newest TIVO setup and you CANNOT reverse it and go back once it's done. I am not a fan of the new look as the channel guide lineup looks exactly like the cable company channel guide which I hate and is the biggest reason I loved TIVO because their channel lineup was different, if I could go back I would not upgrade my settings and would pass on this remote in favor of keeping the classic TIVO look.

Ordered this a couple times as first one I got had backlights...and none of the reordered did? I eventually found and ordered one that has the backlight. Had few issues getting my refunds and had to call customer service a couple times so knocked off a star for that!

I love this remote, it's amazing! I had the smaller remote that slides open with keyboard on it, but it finally died (possible with me dropping it?... duh.. ;-) ) . I loved that remote because it was small enough to press any button on it while holding in your hand. The regular p-nut remoted, like the one my wife likes, is too long. You have to shift your hand down the remote if you want to get to the CLEAR button. I use that often to clear the on-screen display info when I get to where I want to go (I'm too impatient to wait 3 seconds for it to clear. ha.) :-) So anyway... this fits perfect in my hand. It's just the right size with the buttons in all the right places. I love the backlight as well. Just pick it up and the light makes your remote glow... and without draining the battery. It's perfect! I don't have the TIVO VOX so the only button I don't use and can't use is voice control, but that doesn't matter to me one bit. It works perfectly with my Tivo HDXL :-)

The original Tivo remote had an annoying backlight that came on at will. All hours of day and night. Eventually, the remote started to ooze and I think the source of the oozing was the "not needed" backlight and it ruined the remote. This replacement is a more traditional remote with no backlight... It works much better for me. Thank you.

I have been a TiVo bolt user since it came out and love the DVR. Just upgraded to the new experience and it works flawlessly. Hooked up the new Vox remote this morning with no problems. I did have to manually set up the remote and then have to manually pair to my Samsung TV again for TV volume power controls literally took less than 3 minutes. I agree with the reviews that suggest you try the new experience first because it is quite different but in all honesty absolutely similar to menus of Netflix and Amazon Prime. Tried the microphone this morning on about 12 different search request and all 12 came back with positive results. I would not hesitate to purchase the New Deal acts remote and upgrade to the new TiVo experience.
