Great product ideal size for family dinners
Yep, these ain't cheap but if your serious about your cooking and enjoy your time in the kitchen whisking up your favorite recipe you should consider investing in high quality cookware. For years I hesitated and settled for good quality imitations such as the Emeril's cookware but finally decided to treat myself to the real thing and find out if they are worth the high prices. Yes they certainty do. No hot spots, better results at lower heat, tight lids that allow even lower heats due to fantastic heat retention (just use a higher initial temperature put the lid on and reduce to low/medium and you get a better result than having to use med/high on other less efficient wares) I got the same satisfaction than when I decided to buy chef quality knives ... Once you cut and dice with a "real pro knife" you know why it cost $250. I think of these pots as an investment and a heirloom to pass on to my kids. These things are so well built that you know they will last forever (proper care of course) I read reviews stating that you will do just as good with the classic trii-ply stainless but these are truly a step ahead. How can two layers of aluminum not be better than one? It keeps a uniform heat over the entire surface and sides at lower temperatures, perfect for braising, slow cooking, stews etc and also quickly searing and pan frying without hot spots trying to shuffle the food around so that each gets a shot at it ... With these the heat is uniform all around, just don't crowed the pieces during the searing process. Yep I did pay a small fortune for a custom hand picked set but these are worth every penny. Btw don't get drawn into buying the "sets" you don't really save much except if you really need the huge 8 and 12 qt stock pots and prefer frying pans over skillets. I selected the 11 and 13 inch skillets with lids, the 1.5 and 3 qt sauce pans, the 3qt casserole steamer combo, the 4 qt sauté pan, the 6 qt deep sauté pot and 6 qt fry basket. That's the equivalent of 16 pieces for the price of their advertised 14 piece set. FYI I keep my Emeril's 6 qt stock pot that I will use for deep frying on my induction portable burner (it has a copper core and I won't suffer if it gets stained with grease frying at higher temperatures) I prefer skillets and after researching realized that the 13 inch can also be used as a paella pan as they are similar except for the handle. Word of caution, these are heavy, best suited for men or strong women not afraid to handle them.

Great piece of cookware. Excellent on induction cooktops.
This is the first All-Clad D5 item I have purchased, as well as the first one with the non-polished finish. I am very impressed with it so far. The first thing i did was boil water to see how evenly it heated it on high heat. My induction cooktop is very good at providing even heat across the whole bottom of the pan, so I am able to see if there are any hotspots developing as bubbles start forming on the bottom as the water approaches boiling point. With this saucepan, the heat was almost completely evenly distributed across the entire pan, with almost no variation or hotspots. The next thing I did was to preheat it on medium heat to see how well it would sear a steak, which it did perfectly. Every bit of the surface had a consistent sear to it with no darker or lighter areas that would result from uneven heat distribution. Making sauce was also an easy task. It simmered nicely and was very responsive to changes in temperature, responding almost instantly. Cleaning is easy in the dishwasher or by hand. All clad makes a powdered cleaner, but liquid Barkeeper’s Friend works extremely well on stubborn areas and is what I use if I dont put it in the dishwasher. The only thing I caution users about is not to use too firm a sponge or scouring pad, as the surface can scuff if too much pressure is used. I am very happy with this purchase and will likely make further purchases. Also, I just wanted to quickly address a review I saw on here. The person said they returned this because the “D“was capitalized in D5, and it said “Made in USA”, not “Handcrafted in USA”. Mine says this as well, but the D3 stock pot I purchased at All-Clad’s factory sale also has the D in upper case and says “Made in USA”, so it seems to be their norm now.

Well Crafted
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. That is how I think of this 3 qt all-clad saucepan. It is so well crafted and finished. If a person has strength or wrist problems it may be better to get a D3 rather than D5 pan. But it does have a helper handle which makes it seem much lighter. Stainless is much more durable than non stick and if properly used and cleaned it will last generations and still look very good. I know this from a set from another company that I have had for 60 years. Good quality lasts. This pan cooks evenly and because it is so well insulated cooking time is decreased. Worth the investment especially over non stick.

Fantastic Induction Cookware. D5 worth $$ vs D3
After reading all kinds of reviews on lots of sites, I ordered one each of the All Clad 3 qt D3 and D5 pots from Amazon to compare for myself knowing that I would have to pay shipping to return one or the other. It was a test well worth the shipping $$. The D5 was by far the best for me no matter the difference in price and I will continue to buy only the D5. 1. The D5 is a much more balanced pot especially with the extra handle. The Long handle is also set at a slightly flatter angle which helps with the balance and lifting, particularly since I am a short person. I could not tell the D5 was heavier than the D3 as some site stated. 2. The pouring lip on the D5 is less sharp than on the D3 (I didn't like the D3 lip at all) and makes it easier to pour the food where you want it and not down the side of the pot. 3. I like the D5 Brushed Steel better than the shiny silver D3 although the lids on both are shiny. It also seems to water spot less. The D5 went in to and out of the Dishwasher in great style and I use/wash them several times a week. I am not new to stainless steel cookware and realize that some foods may require a little extra cleaning if anything has stuck to the bottom or around the rivets attaching the handles but this has only happened once with a stew and came off easily with a plastic scrubby. 4. Some reviewers said the D5 heats a little slower, but I did not find this the case. With the extra layers, the D5 does seem to spread the heat more evenly and I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked for making my favorite fudge. I have always used my Stainless Steel pressure cooker pot to make fudge, but I found it sometimes burned the butter on the bottom because of ridges in the pot bottom. No such problem here with the smooth flat bottom. 5. This pot will be used on my new Bosch induction cooktop....when we finally get it off the living room floor and installed. (Farm family and the farm work comes first. LOL) All tests were done on my Farberware induction hot plate and I expect even better results on the Bosch. 6. I do wish the smaller pots were less expensive. I purchased the 3qt on Amazon at the same price as other sites, but NONE of them have the 1.5 or 2 qt at a decent price compared to the 3qt. Guess I will add to my collection over time. Bottom line: I am sold on the All Clad D5 line and will be buying more.

Used like new and definitely looks new!
Couldn’t believe I was able to get this pot for used like new discounted price. It did not disappoint when it arrived. Looking sparkly and brand spanking new. Maybe it had some scratches on the bottom of it but, it’s a pot. Let’s be honest it’ll acquire a lot more where that came from over time. And I can use the special stainless steel pot cleaner to make it as sparkly and scratch free as when it was first made. Excellent product in excellent looking condition. Oh and we already have one this was our second so we could make two batches of pasta at once for our family. It’s all clad stainless steel so it definitely has some heft and does weigh a bit but, I like that because I know it’ll be able to stand up to getting beat up and still look like new. Heats up evenly and very fast on our induction cooktop. Would recommend!

All-Clad D5 Stainless Steel 3Qt. Saucepan
This is my dream saucepan. I am upgrading from 18 year old T-fal pans and I had to get All-Clad! All-Clad is highly coveted and used by professional chefs for a reason. Ina Garten uses All-Clad so enough said! The pans have excellent heat retention and they heat up quickly and evenly even on medium heat. No high heat required unless you're boiling water. They are easy to clean with soap and water. For tough stains or rainbow stains use Bar Keepers Friend. The pans are advertised as dishwasher safe, but there's no way I would put this pan in the dishwasher. I like washing it by hand to keep it looking brand new and also so I can admire it as I wash it. This pan is too beautiful to hide away in a cabinet. It stays on the stove. The 3 qt size is big enough to boil veggies or pasta, heat up soup, cook a pot of beans or oatmeal. I absolutely love it and recently also got the 1.5 qt pan. I will be adding more to my All-Clad collection soon. TIP: Bring water to a boil before adding salt to the pan to avoid pitting. Happy cooking!

Great Quality
Excellent quality, but so heavy it is not my go to for cooking.

Phenomenal heat control - great quality
All Clad is simply the best. If all you're doing is dumping a 98 cent can of crappy stew into a cheap pot and then cranking the heat up until it's half burned and then scarfing it down with a warm beer - then you don't need an All Clad pot. (Just cooking lessons). But if you care about the consistency of a tricky sauce you're making as a side dish, then quality like this is where the extra money pays off. If you control the heat properly you control the consistency of the results. If you LOVE cooking - and not just re-heating - then you'll LOVE All-Clad. Happy Cooking, as Chef Pepin would say.

Solid Pan That Actually Cooks Faster
This is a really solid pan. At first, I was skeptical about the claims of faster cooking—after all, a pot is a pot, right? But I was genuinely surprised when my wife, without knowing anything about the brand or specs, started commenting on how quickly it boiled water, especially for things like pasta. That made me believe the difference was real. It’s the first time I’ve spent this much on a saucepan, but honestly, it feels like it’s built to last a lifetime. Given the performance and build quality, I’m planning to stick with this range for future cookware purchases.
