DC Whetstone

Forgot my previous knife sharpener when moving house and that cost three times as much so naturally I was a little dubious about how this tool would perform but it's actually better, the best sharpening tool I've had. Very quick, very easy to use and works on blunt knives as well as those just needing a little polish. It's much easier to use than a Japanese water stone and works very well on Japanese hardened steel. It's also pocket size and comes in a fetching leather pouch.

Have used all types of stones, yes there are more serious systems, but for a small effective carry anywhere sharpening stone it’s amazing. Great diamond grit on one side, finer grit ceramic on the other, and the back of the sheath is a strop! 3 in 1 awesome and very good. Lots of vids online how to use if unsure.

This is a useful little tool, but it is little, 25 x 75 mm. It's designed for travelling light and that should be considered as you can get the slightly larger DC4 at 32 x 100 it can make quite a difference. Having said that, if the small size is what you are after this will do a good job if you practice using it. The small size means light weight and that means it wont stay still on it's own as you use it. Some people have griped that the leather holder would be more useful if it had a belt loop. It is a nice quality leather holder and may might find it more useful if it had a belt loop. That factor doesn't bother me. I use a cutoff from a bicycle inner tube as a ranger band around my knife sheath. The DC3 is mall and light enough to tuck into that and be fairly unobtrusive. I also tuck in a few pannel pin nails. The nails can be used to hold the DC3 in place on a log or anything wooden. This makes it a lot easier to use it once it's held stable. You can use both hands to hold the knife steady while you run it over this small sharpening surface. I haven't had a great deal of use out of it yet but I've been happy with it's performance so far. I've seen complaints of the two sections delaminating, but seen no indication with mine so far. I will consider 5 stars if it keeps performing in the long term.

I've lots of sharpeners by spyderco, lansky etc - this is my favourite small sharpener, and a but of green strop wax on the back of the leather case adds a third sharpening surface (small strop that works well)

This arrived today and my Mora knife is now much sharper. For the first set of strokes, it was rough as described by others and on the instructions, but it soon started to smooth off. I cant imagine I'll get anywhere near as sharp as a proper set of water stones, but for a few quid and the size of a cigarette lighter its almost perfect. I would with hindsight have bought the slightly larger and heavier DC4, but this is exactly as described and does a great job.

One of the best and very lightweight sharpening stone. Good quality and adequate price good for mainly maintain the blade sharp but still for a good sharp is better a different system

nice and small fits almost anywhere you want to store it and does not weigh much at all so far its the best one to keep on you all day every day .if it ever wears out i will buy it all over again ,with in mins i have a razer edge on 2 knifes ..thank you who ever recommended it to me

I use the diamond face to repair blade edges, and the other side to sharpen. Perfect as a carry-along (can use a full-size Whetstone at home)

Amazing sharpener, I carry it daily in combo with my knife. Never have to worry about a dull blade and it disappears into my pocket. I also load up the back of the sheath with JENDE 1 micron diamond emulsion for stropping. (Not the green stuff)

Werkt voor mij perfect voor Scandi grind: Na uren gekliederd met een wetstone is dit voor mij een verademing. Ik heb mbv YouTube en oefenen mijn manier gevonden om met deze steen te werken. Ook erg gemakkelijk mee te nemen voor onderweg. Een aanrader dus.

So handy, so effective, so small. If you use knives and need to keep em sharp this thing is perfect. I've tried them all, and the Falkniven ones are the best.
